So can we assume they will pick an Olineman at pick 5? I still say they draft a WR.

Quote from: GloryDays on March 26, 2024, 05:34:19 PMNeither... trade back if possible and take Ladd McConkey, plus another high pick or two... much higher value than one of those three imo.

Isn't Ladd a slot receiver? Giants already have slot receivers

Either one is fine with me. Odunze would be my pick if MHJ is gone and it's only him and Nabers available.

Overall WR rankings.

Exactly. Bad drafting is the single most reason the Giants have stunk for so long, imo!

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants at JJ's Pro Day
March 23, 2024, 02:59:09 PM
He sure was ripping it in those videos. Looked good at his Pro Day. He was a 5 Star Recruit so it is not surprising he did well at his pro day. I would assume the Vikings are expecting to trade up for him or another QB. When all is said and done, McCarthy just may be a Giant and I am not sure how I feel about it. Early on I was definitely against it, but with more and more people liking McCarthy it seems, I think I may be starting to fall into that group thinking.

Chris Simms had MHJ ranked 3rd behind Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. Simms also states that many NFL folks feel the same.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 22, 2024, 05:55:33 PMSeems like a pretty routine play for any QB capable of being on an NFL roster.

If JJ McCarthy is a top five caliber pick, which he may well be, is that really the play you'd pick to prove that assertion?

My thoughts as well. Seems like that was the first read and the player was obviously about to be open. Easy read, easythrow and catch. I assure you my 13 year old could make that read and throw.

Good topic that seems many are brushing off with little concern.  IMO, this isn't Tom Brady with the Patriots or Mahomes with the Chiefs. This is Jones with the Giants. No playmakers on offense. Not a single player that a defensive coach has to game plan for. Basically, all can be covered one on one. Maybe Hyatts speed comes into consideration but doubt it. The Giants offense, right now on paper, looks worse than the previous year, where it was brutal to watch. Looks like an upcoming year of an even more inept offense. I am concerned about the offense to say the least.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Rate the Brian Burns trade
March 13, 2024, 08:58:40 AM
Pass rushers are the game changers on defense and good ones aren't easy to obtain nor are they cheap. The Giants needed a dependable pass rusher opposite of Thibs and they got a young player who should only get better. So I give the trade a 5. After all that 2nd rounder they gave up could have been a complete bust.

Adding better talent on defense equals smile on my face.

QB play, Oline play, and WR play go hand in hand.

If you go back over the years, Chris Simms has been pretty spot on when it comes to his QB rankings.

I chose Caleb Williams.

He has multiple years playing at an elite level.
The offensive talent he played with at USC was not NFL worthy like some of the other QBs listed. Yet he still balled out. He elevated their play.
I have seen Williams single handedly win games (See OU Texas).
His throwing ability while escaping pressure is 2nd to none. Although he threw 3 interceptions against Notre Dame, if you watched the game you would see he played a pretty darn good game, considering he was harrassed the whole time. USC Oline got abused all game. Imo, Williams is going to be a star

Quote from: Philosophers on March 01, 2024, 09:39:31 AMSorry but many here keep defending Caleb Williams as being mature.  He is a QB, the most heavily invested position in the NFL.  Teams have to take him apart to ensure he is fine medically and every other way.  This is another red flag to me.  As I have said before, my USC booster friends say to stay away from him.  He has gotten very entitled they have said.

Ha! College boosters saying someone feels entitled? Talk about an Oxymoron 😂
Has anyone heard of any teammate, coach, friend or family member say anything negative about Williams?
