Title: NGT:Emory and Henry offense
Post by: chiller99 on March 30, 2015, 10:14:50 AM
Anyone have any knowledge of this offense or have seen it in use? I did the usual internet search and found it was a pretty interesting concept.Instead of placing all five ineligible players directly in the center of the formation, this departure from the normal type of set sends a lineman out wide.here are a few reasons for this, he becomes a blocker, eligible for a lateral and helps set up an overload against the defense that, in this day and age, would be woefully unprepared for it.

Sounds interesting. I assume it's a legal formation if he's declared, is that correct? What other info do you have on it?

Ed,Im looking into something like this to add as a secondary offense to a high school program as a plan b or possibly a short yardage or extra point play. Coach wants something the backups can run easily, and has to be different than anything we run now so it wont appear we are running up score. This offense is the one the A-11 was based on but the A-11 was banned in quite a few states.

The Emory and Henry has been revived some in past few seasons by Jags,Bengals and Eagles.

I was hoping someone on the site may have seen it on the field and I could ask a few question about it.

Very interesting. Do the 3 players lined up wide on both sides have to have an Offensive Lineman on either side or can they be 6 receivers?

Thats where it gets tricky ,its a regional call for high schools, mainly because a lot of big name schools couldnt find a way to contain the A-11 because receivers could line up anywhere .I think in the NFL the "leaving a player uncovered" may dictate how you line up,the way the Eagles lined up in the link I added is how I saw pros do it.

Not much film available in my search yet but since Im not a draft fan I will keep looking during slow season.Heres a version of Florida using the basics of it.
