Title: The Big Blue Huddle Podcast
Post by: Ed Vette on September 13, 2016, 07:48:18 AM
I'm happy to announce our first podcast of the Big Blue Huddle. Rich and Brian and I put it together and it's a review of the Cowboys game and a preview of the home opener against the Saints. I also read Matt's game preview of the Saints game on the show because I thought it was very well done. We want you feedback. It's about 45 minutes long.

For future podcasts, I would like to invite one or two member call ins. We hope you enjoy it.

Hi guys. Just a correction on something I said during the podcast. I stated that Devon Kennard was playing defensive tackle during the final Cowboy drive. I double checked: it was O Diggy. My bad: the camera angles made it tough to read the numbers correctly (O Diggy is #58; Kennard #59), and their body types are virtually identical. Sorry for the mix up.

Technical stuff:  Turn down the intro music Ed.  Your voice is drowned out by the music.
Ed.. I can hear you okay but if you could speak into a mike closer to your mouth (an external one maybe?) you might sound more ??? proffesional? formal?...I don't know what the word is but if you could, it would improve your role as a moderator.

I felt that the end of the game was only a very minor kind of nail biter.  It must been that you fellas were keeping the memory of last year's last minute losses in your minds and maybe anticipating the worse...I had already moved on.  I have a lot of faith in Spagnuolo setting up the initial D and then making the adjustments.  And the offensive side is reliable so this performance was a little underwhelming with regard to it being spectacular but they won, it was a typical Giants/Cowboys game and a typical first game of the season.

A key component:  Eli to Beckham, Eli to Donnell, Eli to Cruz, Eli to Shepard.  That's what we have been dreaming of for a while.
Red zone success....that is something new
All the personnel improvements to the defense worked.
The first three rookie draftees played, a UDFA rookie played (Okwara).  Nobody failed the team other than the kicker and Eli and Shepard (once).

My expectation for the next game is that we will win and Brees will not have a lot of luck or good fortune to do what he did last year.  It would be good to score some more points, another TD would be nice.  Yep, 28 to 32 points would be dandy.

Gotta go.  It does take a while to listen and comment.  I have stuff to do.

I thought my voice was much louder than Rich and Brian and was going to move further away. Did anyone else think my voice was too light or unprofessional?

No. I thought your voice was the clearest of the three. You also spoke with a consistent, measured pacing, which is very important, especially for the guys who are calling in and the sound quality is less than ideal.

I would try to figure out a way to make Rich and Brian's voice sound more like yours did, sound wise, actually.

Outstanding stuff guys! I enjoyed the back  and forth views with Brian and Rich. I often listen to big blue kick off on Giants.com. Once they start taking callers I loose interest in rah rah talk. The three of you kept it focused and informative. A great recap for a Giants fan!
