Quote from: T200 on February 12, 2024, 09:09:48 AMIt doesn't bother me. I just look forward to the day when Superbowl Monday is a national holiday and I don't have to go in to work.

But... in three years it won't matter to me because I'll be fully retired!  <:-P
Almost 20 years ago, I had a co-worker who always had a Super Bowl party and always took the Monday off. I follwed suit the next year and have taken the Monday off every year. It used to be so I could sleep in a recover from overindulging, but lost the desire to get really wasted a long time ago, so it's just to clean up the next day.

As far as I am aware (and that included a quick Google search, the S2 cognitive test results were never released for Daniel Jones assuming he ever even took the test.
They did not release the score, I swear I read that they just said it was very high and didn't elaborate. I can't seem to find a mention of that either.

That test was so overhyped before the draft that people were criticizing the Texans for draft Stroud.

The Giants claimed that Jones scored very high on the test.

Conclusion: that test is total BS and has no correlation to NFL success unless you're cherry picking Brock Purdy.

I love to see the Cowboys lose, even better to be completely humiliated at home.

The fan meltdowns are delicious

Quote from: Ed Vette on January 06, 2024, 08:28:58 AMI'm sure Daboll does. So does Wink and Kafka. Let's see if there are any Business Decisions.

I want them to lose but I root to win. Sick.

Quote from: Ed Vette on January 02, 2024, 11:04:36 PMAs for Penix, is there any evidence to support that a player with 2 ACL's would be susceptible to a third? He's not runner. I guess you're thinking injury prone.
Penix didn't missed a down in 2 seasons with the Huskies. So injury history? Yes. Injury prone? Not seeing it. BTW, he tore the same ACL twice.

I am concerned about the fact that Penix is a lefty, which makes RT a more important position, and the unconventional, almost side arm throwing motion. But I had my doubts about Phillips Rivers for the same reason, and it seemed to matter little. Penix can sling it all over the field. And he made Indiana a bowl contender when he played there, and he was the primary reason they had any success. The program turned into trash after he left.

I'm starting to warm to the idea of taking Rome Odunze or MHJ if he slips a spot with the first round pick and taking McCarthy or Penix in the second if there's no way to trade up for one of the top three QB.

I know Ed would rather have Nix at that spot.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Fines from the Eagles game

The flags help limit the stuff the NFL wants to legislate out of the game, but the fines do the real heavy lifting. 15 yards may not move the needle in the heat of the moment, but $20k will make the players think twice.

I had a thought when the hit happened that DeVito was flopping for a flag, but he had to pulled out of the game for neurological observation based on his reaction. Maybe that's why he was so salty about it walking off the field, because he wasn't even hurt, he was just acting. It looks like he's telling them he's fine, he was just trying to get a flag, but I'm sure that's an excuse they've heard before. They even had to take his helmet to prevent him from running on to the field.

This is why it's ludicrous to think all injuries are simply the unintended consequence of collisions. Some defensive players don't think they're doing their job unless they're taking someone out of the game

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 16, 2023, 04:37:49 PMIt was a fake gun or something. He may have been arrested but I don't think he was actually criminally charged with anything. He was definitely suspended from the team though at least once. His record was not spotless by any means.
He was pulled over with an assault rifle in the back seat, which was not a crime since FL doesn't require you to have a gun license so there was no arrest. There was an earlier incident with an airsoft gun painted to look like an AR-15. He claimed he bought the real AR-15 because he got into a scuffle with some locals. The whole thing should have been a huge red flag.

Had they not traded back and not taken Parsons, they could have taken Slater to be the RT and possibly Thibs the next season, although who knows what their record would have been with Slater at RT (his season ending injury in LA notwithstanding, it's no guarantee he would have his season cut short if he played for the Giants). If they take Parsons, it's probably Neal in 2022. It was just a bad year to pick OL.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on December 16, 2023, 11:45:02 AMWith all of the talk about doing due diligence on top guys even when they aren't particularly interested in them, that doesn't seem to have happened in Toney's case.  Even though picking a WR was high on their priority list.  It is hard to imagine a scout talking to this guy for ten minutes and not getting him taken off the Giants' board.
The scouts note should all have read, "NOPE". He's a total space cadet.

This story should have been enough to disqualify him, instead it they explained it away and drafted him anyway. This is malpractice.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: "A better team with a worse record"
December 16, 2023, 11:55:31 AM
The team was going to be better based on assumptions like Neal would be better, Jones would be better, Schmitz would make a huge difference, and the two rookie CB were going to make Jackson expendable.

Neal made zero improvement, Schmitz played like a rookie, and Jones turned back into a pumpkin after an outlier year that wasn't even that good on paper. Banks looks better on paper than on the field, and Hawkins isn't a starter.

But it was clear that last season saw a lot of wins that could have gone either way, a missed FG here, a pass made 6 inches deeper there. Their record was a bit of a mirage anyway.
