Big Blue Huddle / Re: Would Arizona trade down?

Quote from: LennG on March 28, 2024, 04:36:30 PMRic. Not everyone is happy, including myself. Since you see no value in drafting a QB ASAP, who is going to man the helm for the Giants? Wow, what a choice between Jones and Lock. Sorry my friend, but anything else besides a QB with any #1 pick is akin to another 5 years of disaster, and I am running out of years to say wait until next year, and then the year after that and continue that logic for how many years now?

Agree 100% with this. The Giants have an advantage with the #6 draft position. Ari or SD don't move all that much, and would still get their desired pick at #6, especially SD. I want JJ. He wins, period, and has skills that Daboll can hone.

Rempe is there to pound defensemen in a potential 7 game, or for how long a series goes. He will also stand in front of the net and act like a large hanging blanket. Don't be surprised if a gets a garbage goal of two unless some wily coach like Cooper sets up a situation where he could get suspended again. Cooper is a master tactician/strategist who knows how to take things to the limit. You don't win multiple Cups without stretching the rules. We have a coach that despite his mild manner of speaking knows what needs to be done. Any, and all hockey etiquette(if there is such a thing) needs to be thrown out by every team. Kudos to this year's eventual Cup winner. They will have survived WW1 like trench warfare.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants scouting QBs hard

Dangling the #6 puts them in a better position than Denver #11, and Minn. #12, #23.

At that site was a mock draft where Denver traded up with the Chargers at 5. They gave up the #12, #136, and next year's #1 for JJ. If the Giants FO likes JJ they would be in a much better position at #6 to move up 1 spot. The Chargers could then take their choice of OL as they would at #5.

I watched Tampa/Boston. The Bolts are just showing their championship mettle. The questions for the Rangers(and other teams) are how much do you want it, and how far are you willing to go the get what you want. I know how far I would go if playing or coaching. There is a game within the game that the fans don't readily see due to the speed, and the camera follows the puck. There are more Cup capable teams this year than I can ever remember. The NHL playoffs i/m/o has always been the best professional tournament. This year should be outstanding. Tampa is two points behind Toronto(game in hand). The Leafs play the Caps tonite who are a point behind Philly, and Wash has two games in hand. Would love to see Tampa jump ahead of Tor. and have them play Florida in RD 1. There will be no softees in this year's tournament.

Quote from: Stringer Bell on March 27, 2024, 11:51:06 AMI expect them to be doing their due diligence on Nabers, of course, but I've also been wondering lately about Daniels.

Saw an article stating there were several picks "locked in" including Williams to Bears, Maye to Pats, MHJ tk Cards, Bowers to Jets, and Verse to Atl.

Not that I believe the article 100%, but I thought it interesting that they had Maye as a lock at 3 but not Daniels as a lock at 2. And then I got to thinking, with all the McCarthy buzz, could the Skins really be deciding between Daniels and JJ? If they shocked everyone and went JJ, that would conceivably leave Daniels available at 6.

Given all the new info we have, what would be your preference for the Giants at 6 if things went Williams, JJ, Maye, MHJ, Nabers?

If the draft went like that i/m/o we would have to outbid the Vikings for pick #5 if Schoen/Daboll want a QB. What added to #6 would do it? The Chargers would still be guaranteed to get the player they want.

Quote from: kingm56 on March 27, 2024, 10:14:50 AMFantastic points; however, I have to disagree.  Your notion is only true for those fortunate enough to live within the market.  For those of us outside the market, paying for YouTube, Prime and Peacock represents half the price of a DirectTV subscriptions.  Even if you're in the market, I also believe paying for all the streaming services is still cheaper than paying for cable, which currently has an average cost of $149.99/mo (with ESPN).

I use Superbox; so, my cost is null....

What is Superbox?

and the announced love for the gold jacket running back had the rest of the league saying go ahead.

My brain hurt when I read the new rule with all it's nuances. The folks who thought of this must have been on shrooms when doing so.

Teach proper tackling techniques. Go low, wrap up, and bring down. If a ballcarrier is fighting for extra yards well then the defender has a rite to bring him down in a manner that's still allowed before they turn the game into two hand touch. The game is caught at the juncture between civility, and the human thirst for the "Roman Coliseum". In fairness the defensive side of the ball should be given something in return.

I want JJ. Enough with Jones, he's a big hit away from retirement because of his neck injuries. JJ knows how to win, period.
#12
They're bringing him into camp to show the other DB's how not to play the CB position.

It must be great to suck at your job, and get paid a lot of money to do it.

The above IS football. Before the owners were sued(poor babies), and changed the game to cover their a$$e$(assets). In some of the film clips flags were properly thrown for hits to the head, most of the tackles did not involve head shots, and would be flagged today. Last season Carter Coughlin was fined for making a beautiful form tackle on a special teams play. A Denver DB who was suspended had a meeting with Goodell where he was told that the DB's are responsible for the safety of WR's. So they need to cover, and provide milk and cookies. Imagine telling Ronnie Lott that. Head shots, and late hits should be absolutely flagged. Timely hard hits below the head should not. Maybe if that were the case tacklers wouldn't use the hip-drop. Madbadger you're right it's lazy, mean spirited, and very risky to the tacklee. More attention should be paid to teaching proper tackling techniques, which does include hard hitting. Football is a collision sport.
