Quote from: Philosophers on April 14, 2024, 10:16:48 AMWhat I am saying is how I think the Giants feel, not how I feel.

I think he is damaged goods both physically and mentally.  Giants failed in protecting him last season so hard to tell what 2023 would have been had he played whole season and gotten sacked say 35 times.  His psyche is affected as he won't gamble on downfield throws.  Now Giants need a new QB.
I think he's broken.

I agree, if you have been following my posts on him. I also have cautious enthusiasm for JJ McCarthy but his book in only in the first chapter.

Quote from: Philosophers on April 14, 2024, 09:14:47 AMI think the Giants feel if they get better OL play especially in pass rush plus get a WR1 and add another RB or TE that a healthy DJ can be a top 12 or maybe top 10 QB and that they can win with that.  I also think they are less concerned than fans are about the injury history and conclude better protection insures against that.  This is the reason they go WR at 6 and maybe RB in round 2 or 3.  If DJ fails, Dabs will be gone and a new coach will then go get another QB in 2025 however the offense will now have a true X WR1, plus a good WanDale and Jalin and a young RB to build around a new rookie QB.
I think they can win games and he was a top twelve QB in 2022. In the right system perhaps he can repeat it. I have my doubts after last season.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 14, 2024, 09:38:31 AMWhy would you try to scout a player from a highlight film?
I don't. It was a discussion we had based on observations from a podcast that you have supported multiple times. They gave a pretty fair evaluation btw.

Quote from: Philosophers on April 14, 2024, 09:08:02 AMWd - it's a multi read offense but if the primary read is open he goes to him.  You cant look at a highlight film of any QB because most throws will likely to first WR.

Why would most throws likely Go to the first WR in a highlight film?

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 14, 2024, 09:03:47 AMI believe I heard once that the NFL informally surveys teams to develop the list.  As for JJ (or any prospect showing up), that is for the benefit of the NFL and their over-the-top TV production.   Players attending the draft have zero impact on the team that drafts them (seeing a player forced to bro-hug Rodger Godell will not help a player on the field)
Hundreds of fans attend the event to support their team. Thousands watch. If you think it means nothing to them to see their first round pick with the team hat on getting called up on stage, and the excitement it generates, as well as the picture going up on the team website and all over twitter, then I just don't see it from your perspective.

Quote from: katkavage on April 13, 2024, 04:00:26 PMI see NE as the best trade partner for Minnesota. Their roster is the worst in the NFL. A rookie QB will struggle like Bryce Young this past year. They have so many holes and need draft capital. Arizona and/or Chargers lose our on the top receivers if they trade back. Don't see them doing that unless it's with the Giants.
Could the Chargers be looking to draft an OT and moving back they can do that with Minn and pick up the 11th and 23rd pick and get an OT and WR?

Quote from: brownelvis54 on April 13, 2024, 03:39:48 PMEd, it will not surprise me if Chicago takes Daniels with the #1 pick. Either way, Washington will take Daniels or Williams.

1-Williams to Chicago

2-Daniels to Washington

3-New England takes McCarthy

4-Arizona takes Harrison Jr

5-Chargers take Nabers

Thats how I see it
So no trade up by any other teams? Minnesota needs a QB and the Raiders too.

He should be there. He's a top ten pick and it's a big deal for that Franchise and their fans. Do you know how they decide on who to invite? Do they ask the top teams to submit a short list of names and come up with a factor?

I see that Tyre Phillips is an UFA still.
