Big Blue Huddle / Russell Wilson
December 28, 2023, 09:34:13 AM
A few years ago when Wilson was on the market I gave my opinion that he was in decline with some push back. There were several who wanted the Giants to sign him.

Now it's very possible that he will be released after this season and look to sign elsewhere for league minimum, while sticking the Broncos for his guaranteed.

Is there anyone here that would like to see the Giants bring him here for 2024 and not draft a QB this upcoming draft?

I don't know what Parris Campbell did to wind up in the Dog House but the Giants sure miss Richie James.

Big Blue Huddle / Locked On Giants Podcast
December 20, 2023, 10:42:10 PM
It's Titled, "NY Giants Approaching A Crossroads".

I have to say that I haven't watched or listened to Ed Valentine much but I clicked on it because I scrolling and saw Pat's face. They touched on a lot of the player personnel, but halfway through they discussed Coaching and the process and it reminded me of so many threads of discussion we had here. He did a nice job hitting on all the key points and Patty complimented him well with her input. I recommend listening in. There's much to chew on.

Big Blue Huddle / DeVito to start again XMas Day
December 18, 2023, 09:56:56 AM
Looks like he's being groomed to be the backup next season under Daniel Jones and Daboll wants him prepared in case he has to start the season.

If he was garbage like some of the itoldyouso QB Gurus we have here, they would be starting Tyrod and discussing a contract extension.

Of course what does Daboll know. He hasn't been posting on a Football Forum for the past 20 years.

"Top NFL Analysts weigh in."

I'm inclined to say he becomes a top notch backup because he doesn't have the long ball, but he can have much success as a starter in the right system. This is why we only saw one attempt to Hyatt on a Deep Post which fell short. Although I felt that if he set up properly he may have been able to lead him. I need to see that he can make those throws before endorsement. I think the Giants draft a QB with more of a cannon and see what happens. A couple of opportunities he didn't go for against GB were routes over 40 yards.

Still I have an open mind and you gotta love the kid and what he brings to the table.

Take the time to watch The Phillips segment blocking Rashan Gary. Some nice work there and quite frankly, he's made some strides and it's in the best interests of the team and Tommy DeVito for him to finish out the season there. Bobby makes a comment about his improvement since he came back from Philadelphia. It was sustained blocks like these that gave TD either time in the pocket or to get yards by taking off. It might have been a different outcome with Neal out there.

Big Blue Huddle / NFT Rule Question
December 07, 2023, 10:40:55 PM
It's 4th down and the Offense punts. It's blocked by the Defense and travels a few yards, bounces and hits players on both sides. How far does the ball have to travel for the kicking team to recover the ball? Or would the rule be it only has to hit the receiving team once and the ball can be recovered?

Big Blue Huddle / Evan Neal Article
December 07, 2023, 12:55:41 PM
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Evan Neal believes he was literally born to play tackle in the NFL.
"To be honest, in my opinion, as soon as I stepped out of the womb, I stepped out an offensive tackle," Neal said. "And that's how I feel."...

Big Blue Huddle / NYG 2024 Free Agents
December 01, 2023, 12:33:57 PM
A lot of these players are approaching 30. Out of the 23 I would try to sign eight.

Simmons (his market value is nowhere near that high)
Barkley (I'd offer no more than 8mm)
Jackson (he's still got a few years on him)
McKinney (he's a valuable knucklehead)
Bredeson (as a backup)
McCloud (unsung player)
Cam Brown (specials)
Carter Coughlin (good value as a backup and special teams player)

If not he sure as $hit should be.

Huge Pac-12 Championship Game. It's Nix vs Penix with Daniels and McCarthy in the mix for who might be available when the Giants pick and the Heisman at stake.

One common statement made by many fans was that it was a mistake to pay Daniel Jones. Some at the time and many more after his poor performances this season and the injuries, one of which ended his season.

If they chose to move on...

Would they have traded up for Anthony Richardson? I don't think there was any way they could have gotten Young or Stroud. Would they have picked Levis or would they have signed an FA or started Tyrod Taylor and then put off drafting a QB.

How would any of those decisions have changed the course of this season and the future of the team?

All hypothetical and the answers subjective but did Schoen make the best decision at the time?

"We'll take the best player available. If the best player available for our team is at a certain position, we'll take it. I mean, we won't shy away from it," Schoen said. "That's a ways away, the draft in April. We're still working through all that. We have to come up with a plan, like I said, just for the offseason right now. Tommy [DeVito] is the only one that's under contract, so we'll look at all different avenues there."

All roads, though, apparently lead back to Jones being the Giants primary quarterback in 2024.
