I think I chose a word that was already used on the third pick.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on December 14, 2023, 09:47:05 PMHard to know if the OL is improving, or Devito just has a superb internal sense when the line is breaking down and is very good at scatting out of trouble. He was always elusive in college and seems to be very aware of what's going on around him (like he has eyes in the back of his head) and having an escape route planned out...without giving up on watching and waiting for plays to unfold. You can't teach that...that's just instinct. Not saying he's the second coming of Mahommes, just saying that is his strength and time will tell how well he holds up once defenses figure out how to target any weaknesses in his game, and you can bet, coaches are studying every move in his past to figure out any weak spots
Do you think Daboll held TD back from running as a precaution until Tyrod came back? He played duck and cover before this past game.

Quote from: BluesCruz on December 14, 2023, 05:40:41 PM-safer.  the sideline itself cant be defended
-less defenders outside the numbers
-unexpected as the accuracy must be precise- most teams hit the crossing patterns or comebacks --in the middle of the field.  if you saw the footwork Robinson used to get open it was ankle snapping....on the crossing patterns you can just wing a line drive

Was a facinating podcast though....much more in depth than most podcasters out there
he also explaind the jargon for the layman  2-1 personnel etc

Btw, the sideline is a defender.

Think about the open passing lanes to a QB with a struggling Offensive Line, clogging the middle.

Think about a QB 6'5- 6'6 like Eli and Jones vs TT and TD who are three to four inches shorter on crossing routes and Slants closer to the LOS than sideline and outside routes.

Think about the difficulty the Oline has in creating Gap holes and spreading the Defensive Linebackers and Safeties to open up inside runs.

Think about the lack of height and power without a TE they can send on an intermediate up the seam with Waller out.

I wonder if Eli ever thought he retired too early.

So let's see what you took away from this. Why have the Giants only targeted 30% middle of the field under Tommy DeVito and also less under Tyrod than Daniel Jones? Why do they attack the sidelines as much as they do? There are three main reasons.

I think their intent was to pick up the packages before you did and they screwed up.

Quote from: Gman329 on December 14, 2023, 11:52:27 AMNFL Gameday doesn't give you all the games live, does it?  My understanding is that Youtube has exclusive rights, just as Direct TV did in past years, no?
Sorry, only prime time and local in market games.

I don't hate Rivals, I respect them. These players are among the finest athletes on the planet.

It's the fan base that I will base my disgust or appreciation for. Pittsburgh and GB fans travel well. Philly and Dallas fans do not and they can be obnoxious and boorish. Some pick fights.

I root against the Eagles at all times living in North Jersey. Portions of South Jersey are Eagle fans. Another reason for a Dakota type split in this state. Two different universes.

What about NFL Gameday? I have the App on my phone but also my TV. If you're out of the area, wouldn't you be able to watch it there? For $14 a month I get that, Redzone and Replay.

"Top NFL Analysts weigh in."

I'm inclined to say he becomes a top notch backup because he doesn't have the long ball, but he can have much success as a starter in the right system. This is why we only saw one attempt to Hyatt on a Deep Post which fell short. Although I felt that if he set up properly he may have been able to lead him. I need to see that he can make those throws before endorsement. I think the Giants draft a QB with more of a cannon and see what happens. A couple of opportunities he didn't go for against GB were routes over 40 yards.

Still I have an open mind and you gotta love the kid and what he brings to the table.

Quote from: GloryDays on December 13, 2023, 10:53:09 PMEnjoyed this a lot ... We saw glimpses of his ability in preseason, and he has definitely improved too. I am amazed how he can read defenses and his assessment of the field to make such correct decisive decisions!  =D>
Yes and there's a lot to take away from it. Great game by TD but there were opportunities he missed and a bad decision he got lucky on. Also saw some great play schemes and he highlighted some great WR moves and mistakes. For example the hitch by WDR to fake out his Corner and create separation for that sideline catch or Hyatt having an opportunity to sit in a soft spot on the numbers but he kept going on that shallow crosser. Which I'm sure was pointed out to him in his meeting today. Great stuff.
