Personally, I hope not. I like Barkley a lot and think he is the ultimate team player.

That said, I feel for him, knowing his career has been sort of shortchanged, playing for the Giants. He has basically wasted the best years of his career here and if he does decide t o leave I hold no grudges and would wish him well.

Come on, you couldn't have asked for a better name for ST player of the week, Gunner.   <:-P  <:-P  <:-P

Quote from: LennG on January 03, 2024, 04:43:42 PMThe Rams/SF is a much better game than Washington/Dallas, but that game gets hardly any coverage.

I take back my assessment. Reading today that both starting QBs of SF and LA aren't playing. I guess they are basically going thru the motions.

 Spoiler alert

I am 4 episodes into Fargo and it has gotten weird to say the least. Killings haven't stopped but certain things sure haven't been made very clear, as of yet. Still very interesting.

Big Blue Huddle / Jets release Dalvin Cook

Would it be a bad move to sign him and then try and trade Barkley? Cook is an excellent RB who just never fit into the Jets system. I don't think he would be a big drop-off from Barkley.

I know our desperate need for OL help but I would cringe at taking an OL at #1 when we so desperately need a QB. We have 2 #2s and I would use them for help on the OL. Look what happened the last time we used a very high pick for Neal.
We need playmakers--desperately.

If the Bears go QB, would Fields be expendable? What kind of value would he bring to the open market? If we are too low to draft a solid QB would Fields look good in Blue?, and at what price?

I really don't think money has anything to do with this. KC made what was a meltdown over one of their players (Toney) being called for being offside at a critical time. I mean they went ballistic, yet, here is another instance where Jones is clearly lined up in the neutral zone and no call--Why? Yes, different crew and THAT is a big part of it.
Maybe that crew didn't want the attention that the other crew got, but again, this is the main thing, what one crew calls, another may not. We have all seen crews call petty holdings and PIs, and yet another crew will get that 'well the refs are going to let them play today' attitude.

Full-time refs won't solve this problem better directives will. When one ref has the guts to make a call at a critical part of a game and another swallows his whistle.

That IG was horrendous and things like this should be reviewable. Yes, it is a judgment call, but let the ref see what really happened and where everyone was on tape to help make the right call. Come on, we have seen Mahones just throw the ball anywhere and he rarely gets called for IG.

As I said before I guess complaining loudly might get you a few calls.

Oh and let's not forget that ridiculous call that gave a victory to the Cowpukes when it was so obvious that they lost.
They have footage of the tow tackles going over to the ref. Why else would they do that if not to report as eligible? How much is Jerrah paying them for that one? After all the NFL needs those Cowpukes to win, win win

I assume many watched the Chiefs/Bengals game and how the officiating crew helped the Chiefs win another game. Maybe Mahones and company need to go ballistic a few more times as the refs clearly helped KC win t his game.

OK, maybe they would have won anyway, but that intentional grounding call was pretty hard to stomach if you were rooting for the Bengals, and then there is the Chris Jones clear as day, lining up in the neutral zone and then he goes on to sack the QB.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/calls-mount-for-bengals-chiefs-nfl-officiating-crew-to-be-investigated/ar-AA1mhOE5?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=5785966ca5814f6687d775c3b93bb894&ei=17

On the intentional grounding, there was a Bengals player, not 5 yards from where the pass went.

Really, I know we complain when calls are obviously wrong, but when guys like Mahones goes ballistic against the refs and then, all of a sudden, they start getting ridiculous calls like this to help them win games, well the beat just goes on.

Again, I said we need players, but the point I was trying to make is that a quarterback can make a huge difference. With Jones back there it really seemed that the team had absolutely no energy. Then Tommy comes in with all his energy and what, we win 3 games. Tommy leaves and old Tyrod comes back but he also brings a certain energy with him. we are still losing but the games are interesting and we stayed glued to the TV. Imagine what a good new QB can bring to this team.
It has been discussed that we still need this and that, for sure, but we have seen teams turn around instantly with the addition of a REAL QB, some who CAN make plays. The Giants need help, but with a winning attitude and a good QB to rally behind, we can be a threat to the league even next year. (If we bench Jones).

Last year, we did a TransAtlantic cruise via the Artic Circle. Maybe my best cruise ever. We did a week cruise first from Copenhagen, via Oslo, and several wonderful small towns along the way and into the Fiords of Norway. Back to Copenhagen and then TA back to the USA. I amassed quite a load of pix but I'll try and just post a dew that I feel holds some special value. What I think is a good pix probably won't appeal to many as I love shots of narrow streets with laundry hanging out. I also love shots of local things, like a restaurant in Norway where you eat outdoors but they supply you with blankets and furs to keep you warm while you eat. We stop for lunch or just a gelati (my wife must have this every day) and we take pix of that, just for memory's sake.

Anyway here are some shots of Copenhagen. We have been here before so we spent most of our time doing things we hadn't done before. Copenhagen has a very famous area called Nyhavn, where there are tons of outdoor restaurants, along a canal where they run cruise tours that take you along the waterways of Copenhagen. This time we made it our business to go to Tivoli Gardens, a huge area.amusement park right square in the middle of Copenhagen. Even if you don't go on rides, this place is simply amazing especially at night when they light everything up.

Anyway, some pix of Copenhagen

This is what the tour boats look like, very low and wide to get under many of the bridges along the way. Several you need to duck your heads to pass under

Copenhagen City Hall

And then there is Tivoli

And one last pix which I just had to take. I had to use the restroom in Tivoli and thought this was the cutest thing, where Dad and child can do their thing together in the privacy of a stall.
