Gosh, it does seem like ages since I've posted anything here. I have so many photos of my explorations that I don't know where to start.

Great pix Lou. Please don't take this the wrong way, but when I look back at some of your 'older' pix. I believe you have become the board's new photo expert. Most of your pix are amazing and so well done.

Quote from: katkavage on December 26, 2023, 04:33:44 PMAll this is true, but you cannot say that even considering the lack of talent, that Daboll has done even a fair job this year. He has not had the team prepared. Yes the schedule was tough but to be humiliated early like they were and twice against a division rival is not a good look. He will get year three and let's hope he gets a QB or he's a goner after next year.

I agree with Kat. I fully predicted a step back this season when many were gung-ho after last year. We had a horrible starting schedule and that put us away before we even got started. That said, and to a man here, we all expected the team to come out and play hard and fight till the very end, no matter who we were playing, and that just hasn't happened. Too many games where the team was in a fog and not even competitive and that is on coaching.
Too many head-scratching offensive calls by our OC who didn't have the talent to go with his offense and he should have reeled it in and used whatever was available to him to help the team out. Gosh, I still remember in our opening game, down by 30+ deep in the 4th quarter and he is still calling riunning plays for Jones. Ridiculous.

To have zero heroes in a game where we almost beat the Eagles in their own home. Maybe no one stood out, but as a team, they played hard and fought right to the end. Screw PFF.

Oh, and Mr Thibs didn't even register a tackle in a game where he needed to show up. Well deserved goat.

I've said this several times already, Kafka seems as if he hasn't a clue this year. We draft a guy like Hyatt, for his lightening speed and a good WR, yet he goes another game without ever touching the ball. Hyatt could be a playmaker, yet we will never know with Kafka calling the plays. Get him the damn ball someway and see what he can do.

Just showing how results and possible results can lead to the delusional thinking that we brought into this 2023 season.

Mike

Sure we aren't churning up the league in talent, but I disagree that we are NOT devoid of talent. We just aren't using whatever talent we have to its best advantage. As I said in another thread, we draft a guy like Hyatt, for terrific speed. He is a high draft choice so how can he go games without ever seeing the ball? Gosh, a pitch out, and end around, a quick slant over the middle. Speed is what the NFL is about now. We draft a guy with speed and he isn't used at all. That, my friend, falls on the coaches. You can't say a guy like Hyatt is not talented. We don't know as they refuse to sue him.
We have talent, it is just spread a bit thin, but the talent we do have just isn't being used right.

That should tell you a little bit about the significance of a good QB vs a below average one behind an OL.

Andrew I agree, Tasylor has basically whatever time he needed and was able to stay in the pocket, at least longer than most.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Is it coaching or talent

I think we can all agree our team doesn't have a lot of talent, but we sure aren't devoid of it. I feel what talent we do have is just not being used in the right ways.

Let's look at our WRs. We draft a speedster in Hyatt yet he never saw the ball one time in yesterday's game. He was, what, a @2 pick and he starts and goes games without ever touching the ball. Speed is the name of the game today and if our OC can't find a way of using this speed, then why did we draft Hyatt in the first place? I don't care if he is as dumb as a rock, just find a way to use his speed in our offensive game plan. Except for Campbell and we just don't know what he has to offer, most of our WRs can catch the ball when thrown to them, but we still need a big-time #1 guy. Waller was thought to be that, but another wasted big-time FA pick-up at WR. Why can't we get this right?

Most know I wanted the Giants to draft Simmons, especially as he was touted as a pass rusher, yet he is used mostly in coverage schemes. Personally, and it is just my opinion, with the right coach he can be almost as effective as Parsons. He is a unique talent and needs the right system, but he can rush the passer, yet he is rarely used that way.

I won't even mention our OL coach and our ST coach because there is simply nothing to say about coaches who just fail at their jobs yet continue to have jobs.

Another offense problem, we just continue to run Barkley off tackle, over and over and over again. Is he immune to something different, like a quick pitch? or a quick slant over the middle?

Does anyone else think Thibs is a bit overrated? Sure he is an exceptional talent, but where the hell is he in big games? Interesting sat they posted, he has 6 games without a sack and yesterday he didn't even have a tackle. Is this on him or coaching?

The OL played fairly well against the Eagles yesterday. Maybe the eagles were mailing it in and taking the Giants for granted, but I saw our QBs with ample time to throw and not many sacks or even running for their lives.

My problem with Daboll is he is new and probably doesn't have the authority to make coaching changes. There is no way our OL AND ST coaches should be here now, both are awful and that translates to the field. I see other trams relieve certain coaches of their duties mid stream, yet these two are just bad yet they continue here as if there is nothing we can do about it. Is Daboll afraid of doing something like this?

We really got shafted on a couple of horrendous calls, especially the one at the end of the half. That cost us 3 and potentially the game. We kick a FG at the end to win.
And that head bob also cost us.

Can't blame the coach for that
