Big Blue Huddle / Anticipating the schedule
January 15, 2023, 08:34:11 PM

If Dallas losses I would think Giants/Eagles would be the game of the weekend and get a prime Sunday night position. If Dallas wins they play SF and that would get the prime spot with us probably playing Sat.

Just speculation of course.

Big Blue Huddle / Hats off to this coaching staff
January 15, 2023, 08:26:44 PM

What a terrific group of coaches can do to a team. Really hats off to coach Daboll for his daringness (if that is a word). He inspires this team/ Another tip of the cap to Wink and Kafka for inspiring playcalling that fits right into every different situation.

I am truly amazed at the reformation of this team. We have gone from a run-orientated team with everything on Barkley to a pass-first team with emerging WRs and Jones looking like a top-tier QB. That all goes back to our coaching staff.

The Front Porch / Hi from St. Lucia
January 10, 2023, 02:24:09 PM
Hi guys. I was able to access some WiFi to check out responces to the game and just wanted to say hi.
We will be heading back soon and be home Friday. Weather has been great averaging about 82 with an always tropical breeze. No tan for me though as I stay out of the sun.
Looked in on Wordle and saw some really unique words.  Looking forward to joining the action again. My brain needs a workout after this.
Talk to you all on Friday.

Big Blue Huddle / Just some random thoughts
January 01, 2023, 06:12:27 PM

Going thru my head as I watched today's game.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this new regime we have but I also remember Ben Mcadoo getting us to the playoffs his first year and people were thrilled with him.....................

I also remember a GM by the name of Jerry Reese who had a terrific draft his first year that helped us win a SB............

Before we anoint some of our staff into the Ring Of Honor, and yes we are on the right track, let's see what happens in the next couple of years.

I also mentioned to friends this week that this was the game for Daniel Jones to prove his mettle. This was the game that players yearn for. a chance to step up and win a game to get their team into the playoffs and Jones did just that. Maybe his best game as a pro. He stepped up big time and earned a new contract here.

Big Blue Huddle / Chris Collingsworth=PFF
December 31, 2022, 01:05:36 PM

Well here is something I never knew, seems our beleaguered SNF announcer Chris Collingsworth owns PFF.

https://www.celebritynetworth.com/articles/sports-news/cris-collinsworths-pro-football-focus-just-got-an-investment-valuing-it-at-nine-figures/

So are some of PFFs ratings used to bolster SNF games.

Big Blue Huddle / Omens

Is this an omen for the Giants?

We have beaten every AFC team we have played this season

Ravens
Titans
Jax
Texans

and we have beaten the 3 other teams in the AFC South.

I know, I know, but when we want to look for positives, here are some.

Big Blue Huddle / NFT------Pele dead aged 82

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/breaking-pele-dead-aged-82-reports/ar-AA15MD53

Maybe the greatest soccer player ever has passed away at the age of 82 from colon cancer.

I still remember when he came to play for the NY Cosmos and filled the Stadium every game.

Truly a legend.

May he RIP

Interesting list, with some names I would not have expected. BUT, a QB may have been a complete flop with one team, moved on, and had great success with another.

Check out the list and explanations for each selection.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/j-j-watt-announces-retirement-after-2022-season-nfl-community-celebrates-legacy-of-perennial-all-pro/

On Tuesday, Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt essentially announced his retirement after the 2022 season. The Houston Texans drafted Watt with the No. 11 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, and he spent 10 years with the team before joining the Cardinals in 2021.

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year posted a photo with his wife and his son, Koa, on social media that read, "Koa's first ever NFL game. My last ever NFL home game. My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It's been an absolute honor and a pleasure. 🙏"

What a great player for so many years. The dominant defensive player for many of those years. Age and injuries took their toll.

I wish him t he best.

The Front Porch / Preminitions
December 26, 2022, 11:58:07 AM

Did you ever have a premonition about something, not act/or did act and that premonition come true?

I just read this about the all-time great boxer, Sugar Ray Robinson who was to have a fight against an opponent and had a dream that he knocked him out and killed him. It bothered him to no extent that he had to consult with a priest about it and was encouraged to continue with the fight.

Robinson, in fact, did fight, knocked out his opponent and that man did succumb to his injuries.

Big Blue Huddle / Not one Daniel Jones thread
December 25, 2022, 06:48:41 PM

I can't believe it. We played a game and lost, and not one Daniel Jones thread--good or bad has been posted.

So, for that reason, I had to do it.

Most know my opinion of Jones, but I will come out and say he surely wasn't the reason we lost and should have been the reason we won.
I have been saying all season, I want him to show he can take the ball with the game on the line and win it for us. If not for another 60+ yard FG (why do these things keep happening to us). He should have been the hero.
Again, what I have been on him for were the continual 3-5 yard passes, but he opened up yesterday and threw several of those mid-range passes that teams need to execute.

Good game Daniel.

Big Blue Huddle / Anyone watching today's games?
December 25, 2022, 12:01:23 PM

I know it's Christmas, but looking at the NFL schedule for today, in reality, they couldn't have come up with these bad games if they tried.

I know, I know, when they made up the schedule, these games looked attractive, but now each one is really a dog.
Yesterday you had a plethora of good games opposite each other, couldn't they have flexed one or two into today, just to give us something decent to watch?

According to multiple reports, there were several Giants players at the Mall of America when a deadly shooting occurred. None of the Giants players were harmed, but tragically a 19-year-old was killed.

"I'm told many Giants players were inside the mall, which went on a lockdown for about an hour," NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero said. "So was general manager Joe Schoen, who was getting position-by-position updates until they confirmed that everyone was OK."

Pat Hanlon, the team's executive vice president of communications, told the Associated Press, "Everyone is back in the hotel and accounted for now."

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/daniel-snyder-gets-huge-offers-for-washington-commanders/ar-AA15Agzn?ocid=mailsignout&pc=U591&cvid=a7651ce150af41eaafcbd3f8ddd607b1

Seems Daniel Snyder wants to sell the Commanders he put a price so high that he figured no one would bite and he could still stay in control, but it has been reported that some one had made him an offer even higher than what he asked.

hey believed that Snyder had set his reported asking price so high, $7 billion, that he could later stand down and refuse to sell, saying he'd not gotten the price he wanted. That would then force a vote by NFL team owners to make him sell the team.

That theory got shot down after a report Thursday by Forbes.com that Snyder has received offers "well north" of $7 billion for the team. The report did not specify which parties had made offers. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is presumably one of the interested bidders, as he's been viewed as the favorite to buy the team, possibly in a partnership with rapper Jay Z, among others.

The Front Porch / I never knew this
December 22, 2022, 01:11:40 PM

So what have you learned recently that you never knew before?

Today I learned this

warming up your car before driving in cold weather can damage the engine

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/yes-warming-up-your-car-before-driving-in-cold-weather-can-damage-the-engine/ar-AA15xAnV?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=5022ad17a0034490b0a773ce4c220058

"If you're one of the many drivers who thinks it's important to turn on your car and let it sit for a bit before hitting the road in wintry weather, you could be doing your engine more harm than good," Firestone says.
Less oil means more friction, more wear and tear, and a shorter life for your engine," Firestone says.

Instead of waiting for your car to warm up in the winter, most manufacturers recommend driving off gently after about 30 seconds because the engine warms up faster when the car is being driven, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

If the Eagles are going to take down the Cowboys and clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC this weekend, they'll need to do it without Jalen Hurts.

Sirianni has finally made his plans for this Saturday known. Gardner Minshew will be under center for the Eagles.

Big Blue Huddle / Giants Worked Out Running Back Tuesday
December 21, 2022, 03:27:52 PM

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/giants-worked-out-notable-running-back-tuesday/ar-AA15vgXm?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=27746d164b1341b898818c8b825523c8

Per Ari Meirov of Pro Football Focus, New York worked out former Rams running back Darrell Henderson.

A third-round pick out of Memphis, Henderson played in 50 games for the Rams, starting 28. In those appearances he totaled 1,742 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, often stepping in admirably for the team's starting running backs.

Big Blue Huddle / NGT--Former Bronco RB in Hospice at 31

Former NFL Running Back Reportedly In Hospice At 31

Very sad story.

The Front Porch / Question about a tax return
December 20, 2022, 02:36:59 PM

Just got a call from a friend and he asked me a question about this past year's tax returns. Seems he forgot to include a small pension that his wife received, under income, and he was wondering what to do now--file an amended return, let it go since it was never picked up by the IRS, or what? He said he received a lot more in a refund than he thought he would because that is probably the reason, so if he files an amended return does he have to return all or part of the money?
He always uses one of those online places where you enter the info and they do the figuring and e-file it for you. He said he went back about 5 years and always included that pension previously but, for some reason, this year it wasn't included so what should he do now?

Personally, I have no idea so I would hope some one here might have some experience in a matter like this?

Big Blue Huddle / Landon Collins
December 20, 2022, 01:04:23 PM

I don't know if this has been discussed already, but the Giants now have a decision to make on Landon Collins.

He has been activated from the practice squad 3 times already and now either he has to be assigned to the main roster or lose him possibly.

https://sports.yahoo.com/giants-discuss-signing-landon-collins-184657139.html?src=rss

Collins signed with the Giants on Oct. 6 and has been activated from the practice squad for three games this season, including Sunday's win at Washington. New York must now decide if they will sign Collins to the active 53-man roster for the remainder of the season since the NFL only allows teams to elevate players three times in the regular season before signing them.

"You've got to fight your way through some things. You can't let that get you down. And recognizing the great Giant franchise, the red, white and the blue, and being in a tremendous division — it's right back to where it seemingly was always with all teams competing for a spot in the playoffs. So there's a lot to put your arms around as a Giant now."

Seems the new Jets QB has broken ribs. Has gone to 10 different doctors in order to try and get cleared to play this week but, alas, he is done--at least for the next couple of weeks.

Tough kid to have remained in the game week. he sure took a beating.
