He o-line needs to figure it out. There's no way that this team dumps more resources into this line in rounds 1/2. Maybe you see something in round 3 but...

Dobbins has back to back seasons with serious injuries. Incentive-laden or not, he's anything but reliable.

Quote from: Bob In PA on March 24, 2024, 09:44:28 AMMaybe Jones doesn't have the "innate trait" (think fast, play slow) but I'd ask Lombardi to get out there behind the Giants' offensive line and show me how!  lol  NOT ONE WORD ABOUT THE OFFENSIVE LINE. Two thumbs down.

As for the QB's discussed, he's not hearing much. I say that because mostly he talked about the various types of scouts and what they look for, as well as the various things HE looks for when evaluating a QB.

None of that is something he "heard" but rather his view of the drafting process(and I agree with all of that).

Bob

There were quite a bit of times last season where Jones had an opportunity to hold the balls for a few ticks longer before taking a downfield shot. Being battered over the years likely impacted that ability.

I agree with Lombardi: the team needs to admit that Jones is not the solution.

Age and injuries? Probably round 2-3.

Don't forget about Darren Waller and his near $15 mil cap hit or Neal counting $6.6M against the cap.

Having to pay veteran linemen $5-6M/ye because they can't draft'em doesn't help either.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on March 18, 2024, 06:33:28 PMI feel like it goes a little deeper than that for the Cowboys.  There is no great QBs in the NFC, so they should at least be able to make some noise in the playoffs.

They have enough talent on paper to get to a championship game but haven't been able to.

Heard a story where Dalton Schultz described the atmosphere in Dallas as a "circus".  He cited some things like fan stadium tours during workouts.  Apparently the weight room has a glass wall and he talked about doing bench presses and fans  tapping on the glass.  Sounds minor but when you add a lot of little distractions up I think it matters.   The description made me think of Rocky III when some girls came to get autographs and Mickey yells at them.  Except in this case he would have been encouraging it.

I do get your point about the QBs and don't disagree, but it's tough to move on from a Cousins without knowing how good the replacement is.  If the Vikings flop this year that regime will undoubtedly be put the door.

Who would you replace Dak with if you are the Cowboys?  If they don't give him the contract,  someone else will.

My wife and I have a membership with the Cowboys Club which overlooks the practice field. We've never taken the tour but we've definitely watched the Cowboys practice (as do some of the local offices like the HQ for Dr. Pepper Keurig).

I don't know if what Schultz described was at The Star or down at Jerry World. Either way, that could be rather distracting!

I wouldn't be shocked to see Drew Lock outplay Jones. I was pretty high on Lock the year he came out. Perhaps a bit of a miss on my part but c'est la vie.

Jones is a proven commodity at this point. A talented runner and not much else.

Speaking of #26, Antrel Rolle brings back some positive memories from the last Super Bowl team.

Quote from: madbadger on March 08, 2024, 11:37:50 PMLooked really good last year despite not having good skill position players and a coach invested in his success.

He looked good at times but hardly consistent.

He was on the decline in Seattle which is why Seattle traded him. If he was still top notch, do you think a team trades their franchise QB?

I don't think it's any surprise that diva QBs were allowed to leave their teams when their production/skill dipped (see Wilson and Rodgers).

Quote from: madbadger on March 08, 2024, 12:50:06 PMWTF? He's a hall of fame quarterback who, statistically, was in the upper third of all quarterbacks last year, despite having a dirtbag coach who tried to torpedo him constantly. lol

It's not 2017. He's been on the decline for a while now.

Quote from: jimc on March 06, 2024, 08:19:27 PMDidn't the Bears jump in front of the Giants to draft Floyd?

The Giants have been chasing Floyd since that particular draft.

QuoteThe teams that I go to for my interview, those teams will have my medical...

That's not him refusing medicals. That's him saying he's only going to open himself to such things with teams that are realistically able to draft him. Words are important.

Why are people getting bent out of shape about him not participating in the Underwear Olympics?

Can the team grab a guy like Alt after spending a top 7 pick on Neal two years ago (and trying to flip him to the right side)? The Giants have an All-Pro LT in Andrew Thomas.

WR at 6? That tells me they're invested in Jones for at least another year. JJ? Well, that means the team is starting over...again. I can live with either of those picks if they are decisive about the QB position.

QB hell? Yep.

This team needs another pass rusher.

The team needs to get better ply out of Evan Neal and JMS. For Neal, the third year is pivotal for long term planning. JMS? His play should improve as he's no longer a rookie.

So you pick Nabers ot Odunze? I think there's some serious consideration. I mean, look at what Chase did for Burrows when the I-line play was less than a x"excellent.
