Wow...that is a really detailed report... thanks
I agree with your assessments but due to perceived improvements by the Giants and Eagles, I see them as a 5 win or worse team this year.

I think the Giants were set to Pick Webb in the 3rd, if he was there... That probably dictated taking Tomlinson, who imo was the best DT available at that spot, with our second pick, since by our 4th pick all the starting quality DT prospects would be gone. Based on that thinking, to me if they were set on picking the QB in the 3rd, then they must not have had OT as a need at all! For those of us who viewed OT as an essential need then we either had to grab one in the 1st, or 2nd (where Dawkins was luckily available)... I personally would have gone Robinson in the 1st, highest rated CB and DT in the next 2 rounds and highest rated RB and TE in the 4th and 6th.
Based on my " Need-Position depth " Value board our picks would have been:

1- OT C. Robinson (R2-34 JAGUARS)
2- DT D. Tomlinson (R2-55 GIANTS)
3- CB R. Douglas (R3-99 EAGLES)
4- TE J. Butt (R5-145 Broncos)
5- RB B. Hill (R5-156 FALCONS)
6- DE B. Cox ( UDFA PANTHERS)
7- DL J. Ivie (R7-228 COWBOYS)

Of course personally I like my would-be picks better, but only time would tell and my hope is Reese and our Giants scouting team know better and they got us much better outcome.

As far as Reach picks goes Lamp is not only a better prospect in my opinion, he is rated much higher than Dawkins... he looks much better on tape. I also like Robinson's aggressive and quickness on tape.
If we dont go Oline in the 1st then Feeney in the 2nd followed by Dawkins are not bad picks.

We know the Giants love athletes. So I wouldn't be surprised if they had a higher grade on Njoku than Howard.  On the other hand, Howard appeals to a lot of teams because he had a four year career while Njoku only played two years.

One never knows when it comes to the Draft - so it will be interesting what the Giants will do at #23 if one or both of these players are there for the taking.  If either Bolles or Ramczyk are there as well, then what?  You can get a good TE in the 2nd or 3rd while your chances of landing a starting caliber OLT are very slim after Round One.

I think you are right... so it depends if we can catch a good OT in FA or not... if not their hands are tied forcing them to go OT in the 1st.

That is very true. With all due respect to this thread and XLA, the Giants already have two smallish Xs on this roster in Lewis and King.  What they don't have and need is a big WR in the 6-3+ range.

Todge,
The Patriots proved again that there is not a very specific size or speed requirement for Wide Receivers and possibly other skilled positions... the only requirement is talent and ability... the best barometer for equating that in prospects is achievement stats and this kid has proven he can play at a high level at the position.

With the departure of Cruz and the potential cap-busting demands to resign OBJ, acquiring a top-notch Receiver is now a clear need for the Giants.
As I've been watching tape, one player clearly stands out with the movement skills, hand-eye coordination, hands and catching radius:
East Carolina's Zay Jones steadily improved throughout his career and last year he was able to catch 158 passes for 1746 yards and over 145 ypg!
In my eyes, more importantly his abilities projects very well to the next level.
Here is a highlight clip on this play-maker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qwU24kNKQ8

If we are able to address OT in FA and keep our Dline in tact, we might afford to spend our 2nd on this prolific but under-rated prospect.

BBH Archive / Re: Tribute To Coach Tom Coughlin

Coach Coughlin,
Knowing what I know about you, how you handle yourself on and off the field and how your positive actions have touched so many lives, you are a Giant of a man walking amongst mostly boys. You shine with truth, walking in dark shadows of uncertainty. Your steps are strong with conviction, even as you walk on slippery slopes.
I know that you know, that all those associated with the Giants, the ownership and fans, who were unappreciative of your abilities and your selfless efforts, to keep your teams competitive, arming them with knowledge and hearts of warriors, they will lament your loss, if not now, in the future. I wish you were not abandoned and left to struggle, with what you had to work with, in a very competitive field, so your legacy would continue, getting us even more glory and trophies, but it's ok, you gave us a lot already.
It was an honor to have you as our Giants' coach, leader and mentor. As one of your many fans, I will look forward to witnessing your future successes, on and off the football field.
May God bless you and your loving family, with his Blessings.

Thank you Ceri for spending so much time to post these great write-ups and analysis.

I personally prefer a blocking TE in the 4th with OK hands, than spending a high pick on a big receiver who is not really a very good one.
I would be very happy with either Gilmore or LYNCH there. You left out Arthur Lynch... Do you not consider him a good enough prospect?

Great piece ... I really enjoyed reading this.
Values such as integrity, honor, sincerity, toughness, relentless effort and hard work will stand the test of times and I hope those who share these values enjoy watching his success.
I am and have always been proud to have Tom Coughlin as the Giants head coach and am thankful of the owners and management's belief in this man and standing behind him.

Thank you Ceri,
As usual your knowledgeable posts are really great to read and think about.
I don't see any realistic possibility of Coples or Reif falling past 20, let alone 32. For the rest my top preference would be Kirkpatrick, who I really think can step in at either corner or safety right away and be great.
