Quote from: files58 on Today at 10:39:41 AMI absolutely LOVED Panarin's borderline hit to Oshie. Last season's Panarin would never do that. That was payback for the non-call high stick. The hit shows his determination, and the confidence that his team has his back. Speaks alot. The Caps tomorrow are going to come out of the gate like a quarter horse. It's going to be nasty. CLEAR THE PUCK, just dump it out. Catch them with odd man rushes. Before this is over I see Cuylle mixing it up with Wilson.
Oshie f'd around and found out.  He has always been a dirtbag on the ice.  Just goes unnoticed because he is not as bad as Wilson.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on April 23, 2024, 08:59:04 PMThe Giants have never had a QB like that in the Superbowl era.  Just sayin'.
I am aware.  Few teams have, which is why I think if one of these guys fit that, they would do whatever they can to try to get him.

3rd goal against was on Wennberg.  Can't lose the puck there.  The wild 2 minutes at the end was on Igor.  After an icing he caught a shot off the faceoff.  Should have taken the whistle to allow the Rangers to change.  Instead, played the puck, and then couldn't get it out for 2 minutes.

Quote from: T200 on April 22, 2024, 11:42:03 AMThis just in: Giants are interested in a player in the first round.  /sarcasm/
We can only hope!

Quote from: T200 on April 23, 2024, 09:17:11 AMI have a hard time believing that the perspectives of the 32 currently employed GMs is on par with these two FORMER GMs.

I mean, if that's the case, just cancel rounds 4-7 and get on with training camp.

I'm not knocking their perspectives but I don't think it's prevailing. Hell, if they were that attuned, they'd still have jobs, no?
I agree in theory, but I doubt these 2 think there are 12 and there are current GM's who think there are 25 true first rounders. Yes, some may feel there are a few more, and some a few less.  If I had to guess, I would think 80% of the GM probably feel like there are 10-16.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 23, 2024, 09:01:56 AMI have listened to all the rumors and all the insiders.  This is the best I can discern when it comes to the Giants desires for round one.

1)  The Giants would like to draft a quarterback but on their terms.  In other words, for the right price, the Giants would move up to take a QB, or they would take one if he falls to six.

2)  Maye seems to be the quarterback the Giants have the most interest in.  JJ is another QB the Giants may have interest in, but it doesn't sound like he would be a trade-up target

3)  Failing to secure a QB, the Giants will sit at 6 and take the best WR on their board.  I have no idea how the Giants have stacked the 3 WRs prospects

"....on THEIR terms...." is the key, and I 100% agree.  If think if they felt one of these guys was another Peyton, Brady, Mahomes.  A perennial MVP candidate who will at worst have his team in the play-offs almost every year, they would give up as much as they need to to get him.  Think they view all these guys as, "They will be better than Jones, but not worth selling the farm."

Quote from: DJN on April 22, 2024, 03:32:40 PMWhat current Giant's fans might not know or remember is that Eli's first few years were much like Daniel Jones's...It took him a few years, and had to bring in talent to help him !!
Very true.  Fans were ready to hang him after the Minnesota game in 2007.  He had a lot more talent around him than Jones has ever had and a MUCH better defense.

The least surprising to me were Barkley and Shockey.  Eli was less of a surprise only because it was obvious they were taking a QB, just didnt know which one.

Most surprising for me might have been Ron Dayne.  Remember most didnt think he would do well in the NFL.

Quote from: Gmo11 on April 16, 2024, 09:37:25 AMLove that idea.  And the NHL gives teams a couple days off before the playoffs start anyway so that would then put the 8 seed at a bit of a disadvantage not having that extra day off but that's what you get for not winning the spot outright. I actually wouldn't mind it if they adopted an NBA style plan where the 8th and 9th seeds always play a play in game regardless of record.
I don't watch the NBA, and don't want the NHL to expand the play-offs.  But, do like HOW the NBA does this play-in round where the loser of the 7-8 game gets a 2nd chance.

They didn't screw it up!

One thing I think the NHL gets wrong is the tie-breaker.  If at the end of the regular season, 2 teams are tied and 1 will make the play-offs and one is out, they should play a game for the last spot.  Let the team holding the "tie-breaker" host the game.  If they are tied for seeding where both are in, or they are tied for lottery placement then use the tie-breaker.  If Detroit and Washington both win tonight, they should be playing a game in Washington on Thursday or Friday for the last spot.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 14, 2024, 09:10:04 AMI would love to see the Giants draft CB Melton.  I heard him on NFL radio; he is well-spoken
Are they starting a debate team?

Quote from: ralphpal1 on April 14, 2024, 07:17:56 PMIf we draft Rome Odunze as our number one WR
Does D Jones throw him the ball ?
He main thing is contested catches
And.we all.learn that D Jones does not throw contested catches

he may have been told not to throw them the coaches may not have felt the wr's had the ability to win those 50/50 battles with most DB's.

Quote from: kartanoman on April 13, 2024, 11:30:32 PMHi Mitch.

What are the chances that Schoen already has pick swapping scenario contingency agreements in place with those two teams and, perhaps, a few others?
I would think they do.  I have heard what usually happens is before the draft starts, teams have had discussions and have agreed "in principle" to a deal.  The caveat is based on their players being/not being there.  So, in case of Raiders for argument sake, conversation goes like this:

Schoen; we have guys we like at 6.  if they are there, we are taking them.

raiders: we would give you 13, this, that, the other thing for 6 IF the guy we like is there.

Schoen:  OK, we could do that.

Giants on the clock:  Phone rings.

Schoen's guy: Hello?

Raiders:  Our guy is there, still interested?

Schoen:  Either A) sorry, we have our guy and are taking him.  or B) Deal.

If A occurs, Raiders call whoever owns the 7th pick as they likely have something worked out there too, "IN PRINCIPLE".
