Big Blue Huddle / Re: Tuck seeks help from Tony Robbins

It can't hurt can it?  He wasn't all that great last year and has been fading for a few years now.  If this is what it takes to get him going again then great, if not, no harm done.

And Moore is a hell of a player in his own right that was also included in that Gaborik deal.  So when you look at that deal, plus the Scott Gomez deal that brought McDonagh back its as if Glen Sather went to sleep one night and woke up competent.  Those are two pretty big hauls for guys that if nothing else the fans were ready to turn on.

All is forgiven, I'm rooting for them as well......for this series and only this series.  I just hate the Pens more at this point.

Powe has gotta be out for this game.  He took an elbow to the chops and was, it appeared, unconscious on the ice for a second.  He managed to get up and get to the bench but didn't play the rest of the game and rightfully so.  He should definitely be out this game, and probably the next one too.  Which does hurt because while he provides nothing offensively he's one of their key penalty killers.

Perhaps this forces Kreider back into the lineup?  For the love of God!

Big Blue Huddle / Re: OLB Aaron Curry meeting with Giants

Curry was drafted by the Seahawks where he washed out rather quickly.  The Raiders signed him after he was released basically on a flyer and he wasn't good enough to crack their stellar roster so now he's free again.  Nobody wants new LBs on this team more than me, but even I would rather save the time and the money on a guy that MIGHT be able to play in this league rather than a guy we know for sure can't.

I think Urlacher is quickly realizing that his idea of what he's worth is vastly different from what the rest of the league thinks.  And if we're tossing around the idea of Karlos Dansby I think we can just as easily toss around Urlacher.  I don't know how much he wants but I'd much rather them bring him in for a visit/workout than Aaron Curry.

They played their asses off last night.  I certainly didn't see a 4 goal effort out of them coming.  Every time they took a lead, the Caps would tie it up.  It would have been easy to accept their fate and let nature run its course but instead they fought back and kept taking the lead.

That call at the end of the game was atrocious.  How it takes OV 10 seconds for his neck to snap back after he got hit in the chest is beyond me.

Despite the win there is more stuff to work on but they played their best game of the series by far and its something to build on.  Staal is back and played well for the most part.  Little rust was to be expected.  If they can get Clowe back that would be a nice boost as well.

And what a game from Asham!  Where did THAT come from? He was all over the place, not just the goal.  The entire game.  He earned the extra playing time that Torts was giving him in that 3rd period.

No way they sign him.  Total bust in Seattle and now has knee issues on top of talent issues.  He looked like a stud in college, but has done absolutely nothing in his NFL career.  They're better off with Urlacher.

Stepan is getting there.  He finished the season like a man possessed.  Unfortunately he, like the rest of his teammates, haven't been able to match the skill and effort of their opponent during the playoffs.  They now face back to back must win games at the Garden starting tonight.  We'll find out very soon how much heart these guys actually have.

Fortunately for Ramses he didn't pull a hamstring during the interview.

They already did a show like that with Michael Irvin and two of the contestants have actually played in the NFL.  That Holley guy from Dallas, and the Bengals have a short WR who was also on the show I believe.

I have a hard time believing that each and every year the team ignores the LB position in the draft until the 5th round or later and have it be some big coincidence that they just never have a LB rated that highly.  I think more likely they value other positions more when they do their grading.  Which is not a condemnation on anybody, the system certainly has been working just fine, I just can't believe that there hasn't been a LB rated at or near the top of their board basically since Carl Banks.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Who would you have drafted instead?
« on: May 03, 2013, 02:08:52 PM »
I'd have gone:

Justin Pugh
Arthur Brown
Damontre Moore
Marcus Lattimore (with or without a trade)

After that it doesn't much matter.  Just depth guys and throwing darts at a board.  Although with Lattimore they wouldn't have taken a RB in the 7th of course.

Trying to understand why that organization does anything is a waste of effort.  Geno Smith was probably the best QB in the worst QB draft class in quite some time.  He has some strengths and a lot of weaknesses.  Not to mention he was in one of those wacky college offenses that throw the ball 70 times a game.  Hardly a pro type offense, and definitely not the ground and pound offense the Jets try to run.  He's being thrust into a situation where he's very likely to fail if they make him the starter from Day 1.  He needs to sit and learn.  But as was already pointed out, if Sanchez wins the job out of camp their fans might riot.

There are some guys on that list that seem likely to provide an upgrade to what's currently on the roster but Todge is probably right.  If they wanted any of them they'd have tried to go in that direction instead of signing Connor.  Unfortunately, it seems this is the group they are going to war with this season.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Ryan Nassib most savvy pick says Bill Pollian
« on: May 01, 2013, 02:18:18 PM »
Honestly, there's no real regular season evidence to support my comfort level with Carr.  I fully admit that.  It's just a gut feeling.  I've seen him in preseason look good, and he's been around here long enough to know the offense inside and out.  At the very least he could run the plays and make the calls. I don't want him starting for an extended period of time, but for a short run I'd be ok with it.

Nassib is just an unknown in my opinion.  I didn't have him as highly rated as some others.  This is different from the Aaron Rodgers situation for 2 reasons.  One, even though it was just a couple of years, Favre was older and already showing some signs of decline.  Eli is right smack in the middle of his prime nad has never been seriously hurt.  By the time Nassib's contract comes up, he very likely won't have played a single snap for the Giants.

Secondly, Aaron Rodgers was a consensus First round pick.  He was touted by many to be worth the No. 1 overall pick.  I know there were rumors the Bills were going to take Nassib in the 1st, but it didn't seem like anybody else had him rated as a 1st round pick.  And just from my own personal unscientific and mostly uneducated rating I had him as a 4th rounder which is why I feel the way that I do about the decision to move up and grab him.

He's there now, but he won't be there for long.  With the money tied to Sanchez, and the fact they went out and signed Garrard, coupled with the Geno Smith pick those are going to be the 3 guys the Jets go with.
