Big Blue Huddle / NGT- Quite a surprise reunion
« on: May 17, 2013, 12:49:51 PM »
Nine year old daughter hadn't seen her Afghanistan deployed dad for two years until this surprise moment. Since a Rays home game, inquiring minds wonder if our own Weeze was in attendance.

Big Blue Huddle / Giants OL ranks 4th in NFL 2013 Projection
« on: May 16, 2013, 02:16:08 PM »
According to Rotoworld that is. They project Beatty, Pugh, Baas, Snee, Brewer as starters left to right side. Isn't the majority opinion here that they are bad? Second bad to LB'ers?

A widowed lady, still in good shape, was sunbathing on a deserted
beach in Boca Raton, Florida. She looked up and noticed that a man her
age, also in good shape, had walked up, placed his blanket on the sand
near hers and began reading a book. Smiling, she attempted to strike up
a conversation with him. "How are you today?"

"Fine, thank you," he responded, and turned back to his book.

"I love the beach. Do you come here often?" she asked.

"First time since my wife passed away 2 years ago," he replied and
turned back to his book.

"I'm sorry to hear that. My husband passed away three years ago and it
is very lonely, she countered. "Do you live around here?" She asked.

"Yes, I live over in Coral Springs " he answered, and again he resumed
reading.

Trying to find a topic of common interest, she persisted, "Do you like
pussy cats?"

With that, the man dropped his book, came over to her blanket, tore off
her swimsuit and gave her the most passionate lovemaking of her life.

When the cloud of sand began to settle, she gasped and asked the man,
"How did you know that was what I wanted??

The man replied. "How did you know my name was Katz?"

I agree McNabb is not a HOF'er.
I disagree that never winning a super bowl is all that important to becoming a HOF'er.

Correction- Pat was never GM with the Jets. But I agree that he meant what UConn said.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT- Vick will need to get rid of ball faster

Yes, Chip Kelly said 1.5 seconds. But, that was about the college game. No one really knows the offense he will run in Philadelphia except for one thing. All plays will be run in between 10 and 15 seconds which will put a lot of pressure on defensive substitutions. I was very curious about his college playbook and found a website that does a good job of explaining the offense, college that is. If you have some time, these tutorials are fun to watch as well as understand the Chip Kelly system, College that is.

Big Blue Huddle / The Panic Room
« on: May 12, 2013, 11:11:43 AM »
Peter King of SI sat in the Rams war room for the 1st round picks. A great read on what happens in the room, plus an apparent  philosophy that is different than ours, I think. The Rams are from the school to go get their man, while we believe in letting the board come to us.

Chad is one answer to a trivia question- name the only two college players who have appeared in both the NCAA championships for baseball and football. I don't know who the other player was. Anyone know?

The Front Porch / Re: Anyone familiar with Charleston SC area?

I stayed there for a few days when my friend's daughter got married.  We were in Goose Creek and it seemed like a nice residential area and close to Charleston.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT- WR Titus Young arrested twice

It will be interesting to see what happens with Titus. Will there be any NFL team willing to give him another chance because of his talent and remorse (yet to come)?
Or, is he dead meat?

What, no linebacker as BPA in Round Four?  Holy Ted Todge!

I was just watching 3 hours on the Giants first super bowl season under Coughlin- the deep freeze in Green Bay followed by the Super bowl upset. I have yet to see much of the Jets on NFL Network. Maybe Hard Knocks reruns on HBO but not on the Network. I think the Giants get their fair share of coverage.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Who would you have drafted instead?
« on: May 06, 2013, 10:09:32 AM »
I like the picks and why they were drafted when they were. The only pick I quibble with was Michael Cox in the 7th. He was an undrafted free agent at best. I track/log every selection  through round 7 in Kiper's Draft Book and Cox is the only player I can't even find listed. I was looking for a RB at that time and my two favorites were Miguel Maysonet of Stony Brook and Montel Harris of Temple. Harris is the all time rushing leader at Boston College, accomplished in 3 seasons. He hurt a knee, missed the 2011 season and transferred to Temple for his final year in 2012 where he had some good games. 24 for 133 vs South Florida, 30 for 142 vs Connecticut, 21 for 106 vs. Syracuse, and 351 yards and 7 TD's gainst a woeful Army team. I would have preferred him as the penultimate selection.
I know Harris was dismissed from BC, but frankly thought of him as another potential Ahmad in the seventh round.
