Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 30, 2024, 04:23:35 PMIt's may, in shorts, in a new system etc so I'm not too concerned with anyone's progress rn. If it's the same come August that's another story.

Hi,

Devito's been in the same system for over a year now, and according to reports DJ is way ahead of the other QB's.

This is a great thing to see, wouldn't you agree?

And if DJ begins to start throwing the ball deep several times a game, especially to Nabers, then this will be a much-improved offense

Quote from: y_so_blu on May 30, 2024, 03:43:20 PMIn 1984 Bill Parcells said "if I'm gonna lose, [at least] I'm not gonna lose with those same guys." He was explaining why he'd added 20 new players to the roster and given the starting QB job to Phil Simms over Scott Brunner, who was traded away in the spring.

In his second year Parcells had already identified the guys who were most conspicuous in losing us games and moved on from them. He'd spent 1983 trying to be a conventional coach--an organization guy, the Maras' guy--and when it didn't work, he adjusted quickly.

It's time for Brian Daboll to make a similar adjustment: stop clinging to the starter John Mara likes and make a change. That way, if we lose again in '24, at least it won't be with the same quarterback who is already shell-shocked from all the sacks he's taken.

Am I making sense here? We seem to be trapped in an endless cycle of arguing over who is to blame for Daniel Jones' struggles. But eventually we reach a point where it doesn't matter whose fault it is that Jones is failing; what matters is that he is failing, that the failures make him an albatross around the team's collective neck, and the coach needs to change things up.

So while I don't expect Daboll to trade Jones or even give someone else the starting job, it will be an incredible relief if he does. And it will inspire within me a little more confidence in his leadership.

So, let me get this straight, you are advocating for Daboll and Schoen to trade Daniel Jones, their starting QB right now. Okay, so quick question for you, who are they going to trade him too? And what player are they going to get in return?

Secondly, you claim Daniel Jones is a failure. May I ask a question then? In 2022 when the Giants made the playoffs and won a game, with Daniel Jones as the starting QB, were you advocating back then that he was an albatross and a failure?

Just curious?

Brightwell is a guy who was a bizarre pick at the time he was picked, and despite (I'm sure) no lack of effort on his part, he never managed to do much at the NFL level.

Letting him go was the right thing. I wish him the best.

Yeah as a complimentary guy last season he had 1 int 46 tackles, 1 FF, and a solid tackling grade.

Waller is a guy who has had a lot of highs in his life and a lot of lows. I hope he and his family land in a good place.

However I also hope our team lands in a good place, as it pertains to him. This saga around his retirement needs to play out.

This may be harsh, but I'm hoping he gets a divorce from the Giants too.

Riley was trying to win the slot corner job in Pittsburgh. Nada. Played for Army, only 25. Likely special teamer, if at all.. Originally started with the Eagles.

Brightwell did ittle for me.

The first thing I think when I hear that is run D. The Giants seemingly had good run personnel on the field under Wink but they'd get gashed. Thinking back, a lack of cohesiveness between interior & exterior would explain things.

The other thing I think about is "stunts and twists". I haven't seen the Giants utilize these as effectively as other team's lately. JPP used to be really good at it. In a recent interview with Burns, he lit up talking up about Dex. "When I'm rushing with Dex, I got a plan." He's so dominant a smart player can feast off the attention he gets.

If you marry that to what we're hearing with DT/DE cohesiveness, it starts to paint a picture. These 2 in a T/E stunt can be a nightmare.

They've also apparently shown a NASCAR package with Thibs & Ojulari at DE and Dex & Burns at DT. You can run some nasty twists and stunts from that alignment, too. Exploit the carnage Dex leaves in his wake with blinding fast athletes like Burns.
