Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on Today at 12:05:39 AMI think they might be looking at TEs. They brought in Theo Johnson (the only TE) for a visit. They also brought in RB Trey Benson (the only RB), but he's gone. DT's have been picked clean except for Gabe Hall. We're on the clock tomorrow with the 6th pick, I expect it could be TE Theo Johnson or TE Cade Stover, DT3 Gabe Hall, or maybe one of the RBs Jaylen Wright, Braelen Allen, or Ray Davis  :-??

Yeah that's a good point about DTs being picked clean.  Hope it's a very athletic TE so not Cade Stover.

So do folks here like the 2nd and 3rd round picks?

I think we lost our shot at the best Day 1 starting Guards.  Zinter was the last.  My guess is they like their FA signings.

Looks like DT and RB are their holes they may focus on.

I feel like they may take a guard now

I guess his pursuit speed is the ding on him.  Said if a CB loses his guy, Nubin may not get there quickly enough to cover him.

His instincts are off the charts.  Saban loved him.

Safeties will be there at 47 I think

Trading back from 47 does not feel good.

Great idea.  Would be worth taking the call if the Pats.  Surround Maye with some NFL proven players.

Good suggested players to get.

If DJ got to 12th (where Hurts is), I dont think we'd have the Eagles record because they have so many better players than the Giants do.  To be the Eagles DJ would have to be more like 5th - 7th or 12th with all the Giants players getting much better.

I doubt DJ can be 5th-7th.

That's how I see it.

Quote from: Uncle Mickey on April 26, 2024, 11:34:40 AMI mean DJ didn't have trouble throwing downfield when his OL was blocking even a little better than last years cluster**** That isn't my worry. It's simply staying healthy but that Schoen just brought in 5 OL and the OL coach. That OL coach may have been the biggest acquisition of the offseason including Nabers and I ain't kiddin'

He does not naturally downfield like some throwers and see a typical NFL tight window and throws it there.  Instead he bails and throws a much shorter outlet pass.  He needs to be bolder mentally.  I think he is plenty accurate to make those throws.

Quote from: madbadger on April 26, 2024, 10:50:01 AMThis team still has a ways to go to get back to where we want to be but three years ago the only Giant you could point to and say that he has pro bowl/all pro potential was Barkley. At that point Lawrence was still a bit of a disappointment.

Today is a completely different story.  We have guys like Thomas, Okereke, Lawrence, Burns and Thibs who are at that level or are on the cusp of being in that discussion. Then we have several young guys (Nabers, Hyatt and Banks) who have the physical tools to develop into outstanding NFL players but the school is still out on. Now if we can only find a quarterback....

The point of this post is that I understand why some posters feel lost and frustrated that we aren't improving but we are. The level of talent on the roster is the best it's been in close to a decade. It isn't being felt yet due to poor quarterback play or age but you can't deny that we've accumulated some really nice pieces.

Good post and a fair assessment.  In looking at the names you listed, I conclude that more of the defensive players are either there or ready to emerge and that the offensive players may be earlier in their development.  All need to continue developing.

Maybe Shane Bowen will max the defensive talent in a way that Wink did not.

That said, the OL must (no MUST) make the greatest leap as a position group.  That should benefit everyone on offense.

Then all eyes will be on the QB.  I hope he pulls a Rich Gannon type career and finds his groove later in his career like now.

I think we need to look at it this way.  Nabers was a top shelf addition, however, we need a Guard and RB.  That should complete the talent upgrade then it will be up to the new OL coach to fuse the OL into a good cohesive group.

After that, DJ will only have 1 year (next season) to either be the QB or next draft we will go into full bore draft a QB mode.  We could have gotten one this season albeit with some uncertainty, but instead, we drafted a very high end talent with high floor and a super high ceiling.  You can't fault the team for that.

I liked other OTs rather than JC Latham.  Harbaugh was brilliant to select Alt.  Titans should have looked elsewhere.  Not a fan of that pick.

Atlanta selecting Penix was ridiculous after securing Cousins.  Complete waste of a pick.

I think Dallas trading back did nothing for them.  Yeah they got Guyton, but they needed help at CB also and going back put them in a less advantageous position.

KC landing Xavier Worthy was brilliant.

Quote from: TDToomer on April 26, 2024, 09:26:54 AMI definitely want to see a RB drafted today. If not no lower than the 4th round.

A breakaway, pass catching RB would be a nice piece to add to this offense which lost one nice piece in Barkley and needs a healthy replacement.  Eric Gray is not the answer.

I see a lot of frustration in this post.  Waking up this morning, I realize that BPA is a great approach as a team needs both top end talent and a lot of depth.  Giants addressed the former in spades with Nabers.  Now, let's hope they continue to stockpile more top end talent.
