Maybe Schoen is more enamored with what DeVito did before getting his head slammed off the turf than most here thought.

Of course they will start Danny Boy (they are paying him a fortune), but there is a good chance he will not be the same player after that injury that he was.  He might go down again.  With a career record of 22-37-1 Jones is no prize.

The new veteran they brought in to back him up- Drew Lock is a journeyman.  There is no indictor that this guy also with a 9-14 record as a starter can pull the wagon

That leaves Tommy and he might have some magic left in his game....time will tell
Tommy is 3-2 as a starter and has proven ability to drop in long passes outside the numbers   Something Jones could never do and likely cannot learn at this point

Are we set at QB....no.

1- Penix
2- Alt
3- McCarthy
4- Nabors
5- The TE

Unless DeVito is starting (who has a huge upside) we have two very bad QBs in the Queue.....two stinkers

Jones is a total failure  a robotic QB in the sense of the "Danger Will Robinson" type. Lock  will bring us no Luck- He stinks

Time to start the GM/HC search early this year

Personally, I prefer DeVito by a mile ad he hardly cost us a dime.

With basically the same surrounding personnel DeVito far outperformed Jones.  I think Jones is now damaged goods- mostly psychologically

Jones plays scared and the line does not get too pumped up to block for him.

DeVito having similar arm skills is far more poised and can make the long and back shoulder passes outside the numbers along the boundry that Jones seems actually seems scared to even attempt.   He does not have DeVito's touch.

In contrast the team rallys around DeVito.

Having said all this, I'm sure the Giants management will not recognize any of this.

So Tommy had one so so game

How many TOP QB draftees like Eli for instance have been given miles more rope

The season was over and there was nothing to learned from playing Tyrod

They could have at least subbed each other

I see Purdy and DaVito as equals.  The difference is Purdy got more of a chance to prove himself.

Should we draft a top QB prospect like Nix or Penix SURE.  Jones is a shell of his rookie self.  He will not rebound in my estimation

Deal him and pay half his salary before another season goes by the boards with the inevitable HC change.   We will be set back years

It seemed they raced to a 17 point lead and satisfied sat on their hands for 30 plus minutes

Then they decide to forgo two FGs to as one comic said to  "Hit me on a hand of 18"

I guess there is no mystery why they have no trophies.  That go for it stuff should be regular season only.  Playoffs are one and done.  I like Dan Campbell but he needs to face playoff reality next time.

Feel bad for Barry Sanders in attendance and their long suffering fans

As for the last 4th down attempt   Man that was ugly. Could not even figure out what the play was.  Seemed like they had 5 Evan Neal look-alikes blocking for them. Ole' Ole' Ole' Ole' Ole'

I am really sick of the 49rs representing the NFC and inevitable blowinng it.  Sadly, it looked like McCafferty got tossed right on the crown of his head.  I hope he does not have a serious neck injury.  That guy gives 1000% on every down. Fluke tackle

One 49r I do like is John Lynch.  Great player now great GM.

Want to look forward to a good contest on Feb 11th (My Birthday) no scratches please.

I'm going to say 8-10 wins.  We were getting much better the 2nd half of last year

The loss of Wink, return of Jones are big gating factors that could drive our wins to below 6

Reports of Daboll's mangement style are extremely concerning (if accurate)

I'm optomistic that somehow things will work out and we will be back in the playoffs.  How?  I'm not sure.  Need a lot more information about the evolution of things to be more accurate
#8
In the modern era he is a taller version of Tyreek Hill.

9 Receptions,  181 yds,  20.1 per catch
(Homer avg 22.3 for his entire career, and was taken in the 20th round of the 1963 draft)

Puka's ferocity on attacking the ball and ability to shake tackles is remarkable.  I thought what he did to us was a fluke...no fluke, he does it to everyone.  Superman

5th Round?  my goodness, shows what a crapshoot the draft really is

You need a Ouji Board

Considering all the parameters and recent revelations.  Imagining Mara has the courage to take advantage of a once in a lifetime to grab a HOF HC

Who would you choose?  Right now I see Daboll as a 1st time middle of the road HC who got pulled along with Schoen.

I like Mike Vrable- always have admired his style.

If we endure with Daboll though I fully support him.  I would send him a copy of "How to win friends and influence people" though as off season reading.  And smile once in a while Brian.  Its a game. Treat it as so please

I met Bill Parcells in Pleasantville NY after training camp and the guy was calm and all smiles, very generous with his time.   Be like that a bit more would be my advice.   Believe it or not only Bill, Simms and McConkey
were still there (last day) and Simms threw me passes for 5 or 10 min.
He threw a nice soft ball.  I have pictures I will try to scan and display them here of that long ago day.

We roughed up the Rams then trounce Philly.  It seems we are finally on the right track

The D is top 10 maybe even better.

Its now apparent Jones was the wet blanket not the rest of the offense.

We can dominate next year with a few more key additions.

I actually feel better about this team than I did about last years playoff team.  That team was an illusion.  It had major flaws
The rebirth started with the 3 game winning streak, then the way we handled the Rams
Finally demolishing the hated Eagles

Tyrod said this was the best locker room he has been associated with.......that said a lot

Hopefully Wink stays and we draft well.  I dont know about the money situation but the Jones contract was a huge anchor.  Schoen has to find someway of dealing him off even if we have to pick up half his compensation
#11
The guy had hit 28 game wining FGs in a row

He gets the "Crosby Award"

Pete Carroll has led a charmed life

I had some issues with late hours here in Germany but watched every minute

If anyone wants a great sports streaming service and has a VPN for accessing Europe

DAZN is an awesome tool to watch every sport and team imaginable

My pick for SB is Raiders

Now lets get Pennix and BTW pay Tyrod to stay with us
Somehow off load the Dump off King and keep Tommy too

My ideal senario for QB

Goodness when Ojalari ripped it out I thought sure Id nailed the 34-10 prediction on the nose

We need to somehow off load Jones and let Barkley seek his future elsewhere.  Otherwise we are good. I like the way this team is coming together  :ok:

The Giants will be playing for their jobs

34-10 Giants
#14
for a one game achievement

Shofner had 269 Yds Against the Wash Redskins in 1962
(Del was smooth as glass with hands of steel)

Tying him with Tyreek Hill for spot #14

Even more incredible is Jim Benton of the Rams who in 1945 went for 303 yds

Flipper Anderson is #1 at 336 yds in one game.  Last time I saw him he was running straight through the tunnel after destroying our season in one play

What this Puka Nacua kid did in shedding that tackle is what he is famous for- shedding tackles.  You would think we would have warned our DBs to wrap him up and forget swatting at the ball. One scout described him as a virtual Larry Csonka once he has the ball in his hands.  Explosive runner
incredible hand eye co-ordination and hand strength

Another scout called him another Debo Samuel.  I wonder if he was even on our draft board

Big Blue Huddle / Now lets beat Eagles and call it a year

1- re-sign Taylor and start him

2- Tommy #1 backup

3- trade Jones

4- sign and trade Barkley

5- keep the coaches intact

6- draft a decent college QB

7- #1 actually- draft one or two college RBs

8- If Gano cannot return draft or bring in a good PK

9- dont make wholesale changes to the 53 man roster
we need continuity   Waller stays
10- bring in more line talent and re-sign Pugh
#17
Emminating down from the Mara box is an air of take no chances.
on plays or personnel decisions

I recall watching the Lions try 3 reverses on jetsweeps in one continuous set of 3 downs this year. Finally on the last one it went for a 1st down

I remember thinking to myself the Giants would never ever do that

The old days of a direct snap to Gary Reasons on a fake punt are gone.  Never to return under this owner.

His father Wellington was more apt to "let them play"

John Mara needs to bring in a "George Young" to run all football decisions.  Maybe once again the league needs to step in to save the franchise or I'm beginning to think there will be no dominant Giants teams again in my lifetime

Maybe Bill Belichick will come in and fill that role?  Any thoughts on this fundamental question.

Im a firm believer success emminates from the top.  Look at Musk for instance.  Everything he touches he drives to gold
Its no accident he became the worlds richest man.  He demands success from his teams.

Why are we trying to win meaningless games so badly?

This is the perfect time to test our bench strength

The Giants decisions are often baffling

On the other hand beating Philly would soothe old wounds
especially if it puts them on the road for the playoffs
#19
 :ok:

not 1% but 32%

FINAL THREE GAMES
MAKE PLAYOFFS
WILD CARD
DIV. CHAMP.
BYE WEEK
Win + win + win
32%
32%
0%
0%

Of course even the 3 wins are quite a task but the switch from Jones to Tommy D makes it remotely possible

What Hoot that would be.  Crush the Eagles twice then take on the Cowpokes and Eagles in the playoffs

Would become the stuff of legends

The pressure is off the Giants. They will play fast and loose

The Eagles are vulnerable.

I think Tommy DeVito will finish the season strong.  The Oline will not have a revelation but they will stiffen up enough for DeVito to hit his targets.  Our Tight ends will play their best game of the season.

Kafka has heard the calls for his head. He will call a good game

Daboll only used Barkley for 35% of the snaps last week (that foretold a lot about Barkley's future).  Matt Brieda will have a big game and I think Brightwell will get his carries and do very well.

We will turn the turnover machine back on

Lets hope so.  Christmas Day will go out with a bang and a shocker.  We need something to cheer us up Santa.
#21
Also DeVito slung to the ground...I was suprised he got up and was seemingly ok

That was a gross travesty.  Saints player should have been ejected, fined and 15 yds from the spot of the foul

I dont care what you think of DeVito but what would have happened if that was Tom Brady?

DeVito was well into his slide when hit

They targeted DeVito

The game was 7-6 when that happened and afterward the Giants fell apart

Strahan commented fter the game that he didnt get the call because he was a rookie????  What friggen difference does that make?   They were targeting, and calling him Paisano all game- should have gotten unsportsman like for those taunts too

Hometown Refs

1- We never win in the Noise Dome
2- We cannot take any team for granted especially a team we are fighting for the last wildcard spot
3- Tommy cannot continue along with the D to pull rabbits out of a hat
4- The Saints are a decent team

I do expect a win.  By 2 scores but if the team becomes less than urgent as it seems the fans are (just my feeling, not scientific) bad things could possibly happen

Whistling through the graveyard

This guy runs a podcast called Locked On Saints. a daily podcast not weekly, very unusual

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAc2y6ZwSVI

I learned more from this short podcast than I could ever have imagined
He has studied our personnel groups and play call tendencies in minute detail
He explains the mechanics of personnel groups and how we call plays off those very clearly

It starts off slow but gets better and better

Fantastic stuff

#24
He was making all the pre-snap calls and hand gestures that reminded me of Eli.

He is a very well prepared QB.

Also the podcast guys were commenting on his obvious confidence and quick release and knowledge of where the defenders are and where they are going.  Daboll has prepared DeVito very very well

He showed pocket awareness and escape footwork that he had not shown to that degree previously. Unlike Jones who has speed but no moves, DeVito jukes like a RB.

In an interview he also commented on his good relationship with Daniel Jones and that Jones is the 1st to text him congrats after each victory.  With 100 million bucks coming his way I guess Jones is in glide mode.  I know I would be

on to the worlds loudest venue- The Super Loud Dome.  No worries, we will prevail. Again we are 6 point Dogs

What does the man have to do to convince you a winner has finally fallen in your laps?

It is mind boggling how certain people treat and downplay the winning and good play of this guy.

"Lets lose out and draft some NFL untested college hopeful". Incredible

Yeah draft one but let him sit a few years until all the winning stops.

If the Giants would just rotate their RBs like 90% of the league.  These victory margins would be much larger

I saw Detroit run 2 Jet sweeps and one pitchout the other day in succession.  I said to myself why cant we do something like that?

Dabol/Kafka would not call that in a month of Sundays

Tommy is not holding the offense back the coaches and the RB are.

3rd and 13s are more our norm

Yesterday we found out that by beating Pittsburg, the Patriots should likely not be branded the worst team in the league.  That KC is not the power team of yesterday losing to the Bills (a team we should have beaten but for an inexplicable audible with no time remaining).  The Bears (the other "worst team in the NFL) clobbering the Lions.

This guy Kelce should have consulted Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson before embarking on a PR ravenous romance in NFL mid season.  Has he played well since that started?     Also his brother felt the need to inform the world of what its like to be inside the NFL before meeting Dallas

Im not diminishing the victories of the Packers but we have had the sheer dominance of their last two victories beaten over our heads while we beat "nobodies".  I thought that was a fallacy before this weeks results and results are proving that true.

The Eagles a team we must beat twice got clobbered. The Jets pulled out of their nosedive.  The Houston QB came back to earth.

The Packers are right in the middle of our weight class.  We are at home and surging.
I expect another win tonight.  I expect TommyD to shake off the "Monday Night Blues" with his uncanny confidence and bring this victory home.  More than anytime in NFL history, the league is a level playing field

If the Packers do dominate the Giants as many have predicted, so be it.  Its, however, not a walk in the park for their "Juggernaut" of "better talent", "better QB" Blah Blah Blah

Giving them 7 points on our turf is insulting to say the least.

To reach the promised land we must now dispatch the Packers, beat The Saints and Rams and beat an Eagles team which suddenly have been defeathered with a thud.

The opportunity to run the table is there.  As The late Jim Fassell once said we have to push all the chips to the middle of the table.   If we do by some miracle, make the SB this year it would be nice to face The Ravens again as in 2000.  Payback time perhaps?

Tribute to Fassell who got some serious bad calls in 2000.  Starting with a pick called back for some ref hallucination.  That kind of drained away our energy for sure.

But I Digress....1st things 1st- The 6-6 Green Packers

Who wants it more?  Thats what will determine this outcome.

That and turnovers, in what should be a hard hitting contest.
Hard hits breed WR alligator arms and lots of fumbles. and INTs

#27
that bypassing Tyrod Taylor was an indication we were writing off the season.

Anyone else hear this.  I havent heard that anywhere else

Sounds weird
#28
So hopefully TommyD can earn us some real respect Monday night if we roll the Packers

As for the 49rs..... Brock Purdy is the next TommyD  :-)

I was listening to the Giants wire podcast this morning and according to those guys we are far from out of the playoffs picture if Tommy and friends can keep the winning coming

We can lose 2 more and still get in.....if we win out we have a 90% chance of getting a berth

After the Dallas game we were given up for dead

looking back the needless loss to the Jets may have been our worst development.  If Tommy were allowed to open it up and Gano able to hit a FG things might have been different
#29
Hopefully Tommy destroys the Eagles both games
#30
I know someone from the Giants training staff recommended him to Victor Cruz 7 years ago
to be a training partner one summer.

Beyond that I have no idea what sparked Schoen's interest or if Schoen even knows Cruz very well

I do know Belichick wanted Tommy to sign with his team but Tommy was all about the Giants.

Another quirk is Daboll reviews film with DeVito every Thursday morning.  I wonder when that started

Daboll has said Tommy comes to the sideline and explains in detail what he was seeing out there.  very in depth detail
Who's shoulder is pointed in which direction etc

Also Tommy is 25, one year younger than Jones....whats he been doing for all these years?  Tommy came out of Don Bosco Prep the 8th ranked QB recruit in the nation

TommyD- The International Man of Mystery
