Big Blue Huddle / Re: Who do you have?

1.  I think Hawkins is CB2.  He showed out last year all camp and then when games began he got overwhelmed. I think, with a year under his belt (because he came from such a small ODU program), he gets that spot.  It's between he and Flott, IMO.

2. Agree that Phillips has inside track.  I will add, though, that if Flott loses out on CB2 then he could factor here as well.

3. Agree with Pinnock and Nubin being starters w/ Belton playing as third "starter"

4. McFadden on 1st and 2nd downs, Simmons on passing downs as MLB2

5. LDE - not on roster yet.  Davidson, Riley and Phillips are backups.  If 1 of them is starter then I think the Giants are in trouble.  Yeah, its only run downs (I think passing downs it's 2 DL and Thibs, Burns, Simmons and Okereke (w/ Ojulari sprinkled in somewhere - maybe Dex and one of the aforementioned have hands on ground as 2nd "DL") but Davidson, Riley, Phillips are definition of depth pieces, IMO.

6. Nabors starts day 1.  Wandale in slot, Hyatt and Slayton fight for 3rd spot. McKenzie backs up slot and last receiver spot comes down to Hodgins, Ford-Wheaton or Boykin (special teams gives him shot). UDFAs on practice squad.

7. I agree it goes Singletary, Miller and Tracy with Gray as 4th.  Tough to predict between Gray and Miller as we have not seen what Turbo can do but I think Gray is limited so Turbo has upper hand for RB2.

8. I think Waller comes back so he is TE1 w/ Bellinger and Theo as 2A and 2B

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Draft Survey

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 24, 2024, 02:58:24 PMI'm not a fan of maye, I like Mccarthy more but would be happy with either because they would be Daboll's choice assuming they go that way. So I'd be ecstatic with Maye knowing it was the guy Daboll thinks is elite.

I am the exact opposite - I am not a fan of McCarthy and like Maye more.

With the caveat of these players all being there at 6 and we keep 47, I go Maye over the receivers.  There will be some good receivers at 47 (and drafting a QB in first mandates getting a receiver at 47, IMO).  I also like Maye at 6 and redshirting him. Let him cook with Daboll and Kafka for a year while sitting behind Jones and then, hopefully, handing him keys in 2025.  Maye and Polk (WR, Wash) is a, potentially at least, home run draft.

I'd be fine with Penix IF the Giants trade down or trade back up into the first round after taking a receiver at #6.

You say yes to that trade as quickly as possible before the Broncos wise up and take it back.  Surtain and next years first rounder?  Yes please

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 20, 2024, 11:30:00 AMEstime definitely brings some impressive traits to the table, but his 4.71 40 sticks out a bit for me (in a not good way). NFL defenses are just so much quicker than college. I'd have a hard time getting behind taking him before the fifth round. Ron Dayne was faster than that (4.65).

FYI, he ran 4.58 at his Pro Day.  He might not be a game breaker in pros but he is warrior and would be an excellent second back with Singletary

This is same thing that happened to Josh Allen.  After College Football season ended it was thought that Allen would be top 4 pick. Then everyone started picking nits and Allen fell.  Right before draft the buzz picked up a little again and he only fell to 7.

Not saying that Maye is Allen....but this type of over-analysis happens every year.  Lamar fell almost entirely out of first round after being projected Top 10 or 12 when season ended.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Could it be QB 1 - 2 -3 - 4

That would mean someone is trading up with Arizona for the Number 4 slot.  Atlanta?  Vegas?

The only two on that list I'd touch are Higgins (but he is not a 1 and he wants to be paid as such) and Ridley.

Mike Evans is still a player but he's old so he is definition of stopgap (Beckham too). Gabe Davis still hasn't lived up to potential and he has Josh Allen and Stephon Diggs helping him out.  Michael Pittman is a decent to good Number 2 but he disappears too much in Colt offense.  Hollywood Brown is home run guy and good player but he is just a better version of what Giants WR roster is littered with already.  Mooney, Bourne and Samuel are big, fat no's.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT: Vic Fangio new Eagles DC

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on January 24, 2024, 08:00:40 PMNot shocked.

At least it's not Wink.

Fangio is a way better DC than Wink, IMO.

Vic Fangio is who I wanted instead of Martindale.  That ship sailed as he is in Miami now.  Now I want Frazier or Dennard Wilson.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Wink "resigns" from the Giants

Quote from: Jclayton92 on January 08, 2024, 04:54:39 PMCompletely on board with this. Wink doesn't put his players in the best place to succeed. It's scheme over talent. I'd much rather have someone that's going to put thibs, Lawrence etc in a position to get after the QB.

Our Defense has a lot of good pieces, we should be able to attract a quality DC as people know they can thrive with that Defense.

Me too.

Quote from: MightyGiants on January 08, 2024, 08:39:55 AMThe Giants need to set the market for O-line coach pay.  The biggest thing the Giants can do in terms of improvement is acquire a top-notch offensive line coach.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.  From McAdoo to Schumer to Judge to Daboll, they have all failed at this.  Fix it

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on December 15, 2023, 10:18:27 AMI don't know if Bellichick wants to continue coaching or whether  he would be given complete control. He would have a top rated QB in Justin  Herbert though

Yup. I read somewhere that if Bob Kraft does not want to "fire" Belicheck he could look to trade him (that is if there is demand for a 71 year old coach).  The Chargers are team and market that could do that trade.  Belicheck could bring excitement to LA
