Big Blue Huddle / Re: NFT: NY Rangers 2023 - 202...

Long way to go but my initial thoughts the morning after are:

1. The rangers were pretty bad/soft/poor yet only 1 goal down until 3 mins to go. They mostly handled everything the Cats threw at them.

2. Florida looks to have far better depth

3. How many calls did the refs miss last night? The standard of officiating has been pretty poor in the post season - the high stick and bloodied nose suffered by Lindgren was particularly egregious.

4. Igor wasn't at his best. You can give a pass for being mostly unsighted for the first but the second was a dreadful error.

5. PP was limb but PK strong.

6. ESPN might offer the worst production of any sport I follow. The commentators are simply dreadful, the camera cut aways to close ups are ill timed.

7. It's game 1 and there's a long way to go. So I'm not going to panic but Friday is absolutely huge.

8. But they have to find a way to spring that forecheck.

I saw instances where his jams at LOS were easily defeated and missed tackles where some bulk might have helped him.

Sounds very similar to the reports from those who attended camp last season; for myself, I have never been worried about DJ's arm, or legs.  My primary concern has always been with his ability to process plays, anticipate throws, and deliver the ball through tight windows.  Having said that, I am happy he's healthy and able to showcase his skills. I am confident that DJ will work as hard as humanly possible to be ready for the season; nobody should ever question his work ethic!

The intensity just wasn't there tonight.  They will need to up their game in game two.

Devito played in the ACC and the Big10 conference, if he was a better qb he would have been drafted. After the 2022 draft teams were trying to find their Brock Purdy considering 66 qbs started in 2023 its understandable. Given all that Devito still wasn't drafted while 14 qbs were. If he had undeniable talent, he would have been found. We signed a guy from west Florida University, if there's talent they are found.

FYI Illinois and Syracuse aren't small programs, he had an opportunity most don't get so I have no sympathy.

There is irony in the title of this thread given that once the season begins he will be taking a seat.
