1:43 in overtime ...

Breadman!

Breadman!!

Breadman!!!

Style points back-handed tip-in off a gorgeous pass from Trocheck in the right corner for the winner, 3-2.

I don't want to analyze tonight's game. As I stated before, the Rangers, since winning Game Seven of the 2022 Playoffs against Carolina in Raleigh, they've played well in that building and weren't impacted by the home crowd that, despite attempts to keep Ranger fans out, the Blueshirts fans found their way into the building.

Special teams was won by the Rangers again. Carolina was 0 for 5 on the power play. The Rangers were 0 for 4 on the power play; however, 5 for 5 penalty kills PLUS one short-handed goal which shut down the Carolina fans for a good portion of the game.

Igor did his hls job well in keeping Carolina in check for most of the game. The game tying goal was unfortunate; but the building pressure and chaos by Carolina was effective in their endeavor to score. Fortunately, he wasn't needed in overtime to repeat Tuesday's magical performance.

Panarin's game-winning goal, his fourth game-winner in this year's playoffs, should finally quiet the critics who have castigated him for his past playoff disappearances.

Also, Laffy getting his third goal of this series, which almost turned out to be the winner, continues to validate his growth.

But Vinny Trocheck continues to be a thorn in his former team's side. Whether he's baiting his ex-teammates into penalties, or making plays that result in scores. His impact was felt today from start to finish.

The Rangers' defense bent but never broke. They held the Canes to one score for 58 and a half minutes and two for the entire game.

After the Rangers scored in overtime, I spent time observing the Canes and their fans. Both looked broken. It's not over until it's over, but they looked broken. I think maybe they are starting to realize what files58 and I have been seeing and saying on here with conviction, not that the rest of you aren't, or don't believe it, but the Rangers have a sense of purpose now that goes beyond the President's Trophy. It's retribution for that embarrassment last year when they self-destructed against the Devils. This team is the antithesis of that group.

So, the Canes came to play and their fans arrived to cheer them on to victory. In the end, neither was enough to defeat a Ranger team who is now a game away from sweeping the third best team in this season's play.

With all my love to the Vegas prognosticators, and all Canes bandwagoners, it gives me great pleasure to say ...

Rangers: 3 - Your Paper Champions: Goose Egg, Zero, Zilch, Nil, Nada, You get nothing and like it, Nyet!

Oh, and I almost forgot ...

:kissass:

Let's Go Rangers!

Peace!

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 09, 2024, 08:33:32 PMI get your point Lenn, but if you're doing these rankings you have to put the rookies somewhere if they're expected to be starters.

I'm not saying these rookie rankings are going to be accurate, but I'm not sure you should just automatically put them all at the dead bottom of the league if you're trying to give your forecast of where you think they'll be. I think the writer is making a speculative assessment here. He may be wrong in his assessment obviously, but just automatically ranking them at the bottom solely because they're rookies doesn't seem like the best approach to me.

IMO you don't put the rookies at the bottom of the list, you leave them out.

Quote from: sxdxca38 on May 09, 2024, 10:47:56 PMI personally think maybe this topic should be pinned and held up for the entire year so that everyone can see that CBS sports had Daniel Jones ranked as the 32nd worst QB in the entire NFL.

And

Then after the 2024 season is completed everyone will see where Daniel Jones truly ranked, and if CBS sports should ever be taken seriously again, or if they were truly right on the money?

Only time will tell.

Excellent idea.

To put Jones dead last reeks of click bait and is extremely disrespectful. I hope the guy posts the article above his locker and goes out and makes a big turnaround. If only he would practice looking off the safety. That would be a start. One can hope

Huge!!

When Panarin took a penalty to break up a Ranger power play and turn it into 4 on 4, I texted a friend with the comment "first time I've heard Panarin's name tonight." It was as if he saw that text, resented it, and wanted to show me up. And show me up he most certainly did. What a sensational play by him to set up the Laffy goal and then obviously to also get it done in OT. Great stuff!

I want this wrapped up on Saturday so badly. Back to back sweeps would be immense. If they win in five I'm obviously fine with that but I really think they should be looking to end this this weekend. The Canes have to be totally deflated at this point.

Batter is safe at first because it's the catcher's responsibility to catch the ball and throw tue runner out at FB but it becomes a dead ball so the  base runner can only advance to Second Base. Now Base Runners at first and second.

I was going to put this on the Baseball forum, but no one will see it, so I thought all you junior umpires out there might like something to tickle your knowledge bone.

I have had several very interesting situations this season. I only do High School baseball these days and my time working behind the plate has come to an end so I mostly work the bases.

If people are interested I'll post a few interesting situations that came up and see if anyone can make the correct call.

Yesterday game

Inning makes no difference.
Runner on 1st base, ONE out, batter has a 3-2 count on him.
Runner on 1st is off with the pitch. Batter swings at a ball in the dirt and misses. He starts running to 1st base.
The ball hits off the catcher's shin guard and goes into the dugout. The runner who was on 1st base was already around 2nd base when the ball went into the dugout.

Question
is the batter out or safe at 1st?
Where does the runner, who was on 1st, end up (scores, 3rd base, 2nd base, or back on 1st base)?
And if you have any explanation as to why you answered the way you did.

In this movie you see, while the Beatles are performing on the roof, some London policemen come a calling. In the other movie, Get Back, they explain the reason for them being there. Since this performance on the roof really wasn't planned that way. They got up there and started singing and playing. One lady who lived right there called the police complaining all the noise was ruining her afternoon nap. The Bobby came up and was sort of ushered away. He called his sergeant and then several Bobbies came up there to investigate this unannounced concert. It was very funny, the legendary Beatles were performing and the police wanted to intervene because some woman's nap time was being disturbed.
