The Front Porch / Re: Netflix surprises fans by ...

Quote from: brownelvis54 on Today at 03:03:31 PMMe too. It was a secret release.
you can watch it in English or stick with Japanese with subtitles.

I know many film aficionados strongly prefer subtitles and scoff at watching foreign films with English dubbed in, but I will confess I prefer the latter.

Yup. Same thing happened with Solder.

Even though it doesn't suit us, it's hard to blame these guys for not being willing to pass up that kind of money.

Quote from: madbadger on Today at 07:00:49 PMWhich would you prefer to have a game with zero sacks but ten pressures that completely wreck the play, or a game with two sack and four pressures? I know which one I prefer. Pressures also lead to interceptions which are awesome too.

Definitely the former, and it's not a difficult choice since you qualified it with the description "that completely wreck the play." Obviously not all pressures wreck plays, so that's an important part your hypothetical.

If you just said 10 pressures but did not specify what would happen, I'd still go with the pressures, but it would be a somewhat closer call.

As a separate but related thought, I wonder what the league-wide numbers are on INTs thrown per pressure and fumbles lost per sack. I have no idea myself, but I'm curious.

Quote from: londonblue on May 31, 2024, 03:39:59 PMNot if I am offered a choice.

Pressures were undervalued historically but that does not mean they are as or more valuable on a play. Sacks usually gain field position and loss of down and the possibility of a fumble (an important % of NFL fumbles are sack fumbles year on year). Pressures bring a chance of loss of down and a slightly elevated chance of an interception per the data metrics.

Sacks are clearly more impactful as an individual play but they are less frequent so perhaps in total over an average game (rather than as an individual play) pressures might make a bigger combined contribution. Maybe in that specific way he has a point.

Which would you prefer to have a game with zero sacks but ten pressures that completely wreck the play, or a game with two sack and four pressures? I know which one I prefer. Pressures also lead to interceptions which are awesome too.

Big Blue Huddle / Top Triple Threat Wrs

I found this a fascinating read. I was a huge backer of Wandale Robinson since he was drafted and he can be absolutely lethal.

"Receivers can win in several ways, each with its own set of challenges. Some receivers run masterful routes to create separation, while others use leverage and play strength to win on contested throws or eat up chunk yardage with the ball in their hands.

Doing just one of these at a high level takes incredible skill, but maximizing each approach is a key indicator for potential production. Just six receivers exceeded the threshold in each facet in 2023.

These are the NFL's triple-threat receivers, ranking above the 60th percentile in yards after the catch per reception, contested catch rate and separation rate."

Wandale Robinson placed 5th among all the Wrs in the league. Showing the talent that the staff saw when they drafted him. Now pairing him with Hyatt, and Nabors should make it electric for the Qb.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 07:40:00 AMWe haven't had a "fun" player to watch since Barkley's younger and healthier days when we would be treated to the occasional homerun rush (or catch).

I hope you're right (I suspect you are).  This team will hopefully be more fun to watch this season.

Kinda get where you're coming from but it's a lot fun to watch Big Dex wreck interior lineman.

I hated that pick when it was made. No production in college but was somehow expected to produce in the NFL? A complete waste of a pick even for a 6th rounder. Another Dave Gettleman special. Smartest man in the room.
