Those other teams believe what I believe... pick six is a good slot to be in this year. Bob

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Can't argue with you point, clearly they do or they wouldn't be reaching out to the Giants

I really want them to get a game changer. There should be a WR there and potentially a QB.

Pull the trigger, I say.

That's the thing about trading down.  Eventually, you need to get some blue-chip players on your team.  If you are constantly trading down to create quantity, it's more difficult for you to add those coveted and badly-needed blue chippers

If the Giants are interested in a QB, and I believe they are, but their top 4 are all gone after the Vikings jump them (as I believe they will) then I could see them being interested in trading down with a team like the Bills so they can still draft their QB (either Penix/Nix) and also collect more capital including I would imagine at least 1 more first round pick given how far back they'd be moving down.

The Bills NEED to get Josh Allen an elite WR now that Diggs is gone.  They'd likely go above and beyond to get to the Giants spot if the Giants were interested in moving that far back. The only question would be if the Giants are willing to trade back and if so that far back.

Exactly. If the tier 1 QB isn't there. Take the tier 1 Wideout.

You need tier 1 players.

If the Giants want a QB, they like all four QBs they can trade to 4 and give up less to trade two places than say in 2025 if they are maybe 10th and have to trade up to 1st or 2nd pick.

It's all about their real need for a QB and whether they like 1, 2, 3 or 4 QBs

When you consider the top shelf (4 QBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, and at least 1 OT) that would all be top 1 or 2 picks in many other drafts, you can see why. Hence, if trading down, don't trade down too far unless you get a ridiculous offer that includes multiple pics in the first half of the draft, coupled with first round draft picks in coming drafts
The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

President Rick

if the first post is true, there might be some bidding up among interested teams.  TRADE DOWN.  I'd rather have 2 red chippers than a 'blue' chip bust, and those qb's have bust written all over them

having read the transcript, I don't think the Giants are trading down. I think his comments were an effort to create a smoke screen because there was too much talk of him trading up

Q. You said you are not one or two players away in this year's draft so you could go either way, how does that impact your decision on whether you move up and what you're willing to part with to move up?

JOE SCHOEN: I haven't said we're going to move up or we will or we won't. It impacts do we stay — surprisingly at 6, we've gotten a lot of calls from people behind us. I didn't think I'd have as much activity at 6 from people behind me as we've gotten. So those are options too as we look at, if we go back, how far back do we want to go?

Then the stack I was just talking about, now there's 10 names instead of 6 or 15 names instead of — where does it make sense for us to move back, and what else can we get with that? We're taking all of that. Whether we go up, back, stay, all that's being talked about right now as we're going through it.

PLUS, does this sound like a man who plans on trading down?

Q. What is draft day like for you? Especially as the pick nears, what is that like?

JOE SCHOEN: A lot of our work and the preparation — especially in the first round. Last year was a little bit more stressful because when you're picking further back in the draft. Where this year at 6, it makes it a little bit easier because you can say, okay, here's six names, here's how we like them, here's our different scenarios, and you can go from there.

The first round is pretty calm just because you've done all the work. No matter how it pans out, you've got your stack and how you like the players. Last year, again, there's a little bit more anxiety and uncertainty because to us last year the draft didn't really start until pick 15, and now you're starting to narrow down who's going to be there.

Where when you're picking this high, it's a little bit different. Pretty calm because all the work and the preparation that the staff, the coaches, all of us have have done leading up to the draft. Usually feel pretty good about our board, and as you go through it, the board talks to you, and a lot of the decisions have already been made.

My interest in trading down hinges on two things:

1) The trading partner offers a top 12-15 pick

and

2) We get a 1st rounder next year as part of the trade.

If they can achieve those two objectives, I'm all in on a trade down.
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Accumulating draft capital is always good in my mind as the so-called quality at the top often does not correlate to NFL success.  Love the more bites at the apple strategy.

Yep - and if this draft is deep, you're not trading a blue chip for red chips, but maybe a blue and a purple.

For example - Gettleman did the right thing when he traded down in 2021. The mistake(s) were drafting Toney and Neal with those picks. There were clearly blue chip players drafted not too far after both that we could have had.

Rick: My hope is that the Vikings will be the caller because they have two first round picks this year to give us.

I'm not one of those rooting for a trade down, but that might be a tough deal to refuse, especially if the Giants' absolute favorite QB and their absolute favorite WR are both gone (highly likely).

Incidentally, no one has reported that Vikings want Pick Six. They want Pick Three so far as I can tell.
