The Front Porch / Re: Strands anyone?
I have to admit, I had no clue what the connection was well into having a bunch of the words. I knew that digits were numbers obviously, but "kinds of numbers" were not a category that crossed my mind until I had a bunch of them. They got me good today. Pretty clever.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 08:04:47 AMHe lit it up in the CFL.  He's a bit short at 6' 1", but I think Tommy Cutlets has some serious competition for QB 3.  The Giants claimed Rourke on waivers.   The Pats got him by claiming him on waivers (when the Jags waived him), and they beat out the Texans, who also put a claim in on him.  I think there could be something more than just a camp body in him.

I tend to agree. If I'm a betting man, I'd probably give him a moderate edge to be our practice squad QB this year over Tommy D.

Do I think he'll ever see the field this year in a real game if at least one of Jones or Luck is healthy? Nope.

Quote from: todge on Today at 01:36:46 PMJones faced the early part of the schedule. Their losses were to: Cowboys, 49ers, Seattle, Dolphins and the Bills. Everyone knew the Giants weren't winning those games.

I respectfully beg to differ. Last August there were people on this board arguing that the Giants were going to be "something special this year." I don't think any of those folks, or even a number who were less emphatic but still cautiously optimistic, would have told you last August that the Giant would go 0-5 in those five games.

HUGE win!!

We got outplayed overall tonight but Shesty was an absolute animal, especially after the second period. That we found a way to win this game was remarkable.

Series is far from over though. We're in a strong position right now for sure, but Carolina will be balls to the wall the next two games.

This was tremendous. I was constantly worrying we were going to lose this game throughout play tonight. For certain phases of the game they were really dominating us.

Rangers teams in recent past years would have for sure lost this game. The fact that we found a way to win tonight speaks volumes about this year's team. They have some magic going here.

Quote from: nb587 on May 07, 2024, 07:39:45 PMI dont know the answer to this- just asking.  If you looked at the top 10 WRs today, or top 5, how many would you think are fast?

It is somewhat subjective who the five best receivers are, but I'll take a crack at it.

For "fast" I will use less than 4.45 on the 40. I think that's a fair cutoff for this position.

Is each of the below players fast?

Tyreek Hill (4.29): Yes
Cee Dee Lamb (4.5): No
Amon-Ra St. Brown (4.61): No
Ja'Marr Chase (4.38): Yes
AJ Brown (4.49): No

2 yes, 3 no.

Quote from: Stringer Bell on May 07, 2024, 11:41:33 AMThat offensive foul call at the end was pretty terrible. You have aggressive playoff basketball being played for 47 minutes+, all for the refs to decide the game at the end.

It was such a great back and forth battle and great game. Just wish the players could have determined the outcome.

The call stood up to the challenge. Refs make mistakes all the time in real time, but it's hard to believe an NBA playoff ref didn't understand the NBA rule book when he was watching the play frame-by-frame on a close up replay. If an infraction was not committed there, it seems extremely likely the ref would have seen that in the replay and overturned it.

As for willfully allowing a clear infraction just because it's the final minute or two of a close game, that's a matter of fan opinion and a controversial subject. I understand the spirit of that argument, but it's a slippery slope if you just start allowing anything to happen just because it's late. Which rules should get enforced and which shouldn't?

Quote from: FL GMAN on May 07, 2024, 04:09:23 PMI would have thought LT was higher than RT.

I guess Sewell signed more recently (perhaps by two years?) than Tunsil.

Still, I agree.

I also feel like Sewell just got drafted yesterday. Did he really already play out a four year rookie deal with a fifth year option? That can't be right.

I'm not loving that news if I'm Tommy D.

I don't see it happening myself. The only way Jones doesn't start week one is if he's not medically ready. And I think if they say that, it will be legitimate. Meaning I don't see Lock being able to beat out a healthy Jones for the job in camp, even if he genuinely plays better than Jones in camp.

Could a healthy Jones be pulled during the season due to poor play or the offense being dysfunctional overall? Yes, that could happen. I'm not predicting it will or won't, but I do think that's possible. I don't think it's possible that Lock starts over a healthy Jones in week one.

Sick game. I need a cardiologist appointment after that one. Every game is like this.

I'm not under any designs that we found the next Jamaal Charles or anything like that, but for where we got him, I think Tracy is an interesting pick who is going to add value on specials and as a situational offensive weapon.

The Front Porch / Re: Rank Best Female Rockers

I have a hard time ranking anyone above Stevie Nicks, but that's probably due to how much I like Fleetwood Mac, and I would be the first to say that Fleetwood Mac was never about just one band member.
