RAMs have and 87% chance of getting in if they win
24% if they lose. according to NFL.com
Should be an interesting game
Losing Banks probably will hurt. Rams have found talent to fix huge holes in just a year. It can be done.
Tough matchup. Rams playing at a high level.
Giants literally ceding 5-7 every pass play.

I feel like people left him for dead, but Stafford is really good when he's healthy
I watched Thibs drop back 2x in coverage on this drive and both times he was literally looking around uncertain. Use the guy as he was intended.
The over under on Rams punts today is 1. I'm taking the under.

The first drive suggests that's a good shout.
Why defer, then come out playing a soft defense? JH Christ Almighty.
Nice job Dabol getting challenge flag dropped in time.
On the other hand, I wish our offense could line up and snap it as quickly as Rams just did when a play is questionable. That was impressive to see
Props to Dabs on the early challenges.
Two successful challenges on three plays? I'd say this one comes back also.
4th down and Wink again drops Thibs into coverage. I've been highly critical of Thibs not doing it in big spots. But if he isn't given the chance to rush the QB then it's not on him.
He was drafted to hit the QB. This dropping back stuff is useless because he rarely makes a play when he is in this position anyhow!
Dumb coaching.

Weird too because Wink is a guy known for bringing the heat.
To be fair, the Giants are (I believe) 2nd in blitz frequency. Weird that they drop him back this much.

I've been wondering about the number of times Thibs drops, strange as you say when he's, potentially or actually, our top pass rusher.
The 1st handoff to Barkley. Just watched replay slo motion. #3 and 13 on Rams into backfield untouched and no Giant even close to them. This has to be a coaching issue to see so many hits in backfield untouched.
Do the Giants have any QB who can throw a pass to Hyatt in front of him so he can run under it?
Dex is a beast
But we need someone like snacks on the d-line next to him
This team gets pushed around on both sides of the ball instantly

That's it for Pinnock ... do t risk him at all next weekend ... let Belton play ... if he's even playing

They're making Kyren Williams look like the second coming of Emmitt Smith here.
Biggest needs not named QB
Receiver
O-line
DT ... and not because we let Williams go... we need the opposite of Williams .... We need a big body run stuffer
Horrible defense. Nothing up middle besides Dex, Thibs is basically a non factor until the backfield locks down, losing Love caused a major setback to the entire unit. Our safeties and CB blitz rarely work. Wink may not be the guy going forward.

Maybe secondary but the whole team is beyond bereft.

Pugh - excellent block to spring Barkley
Taylor should have dumped it off to Glowinski
Little talent and poor coaching. Its been this way for years and there's no real light at the end of the tunnel. As a poster said last week, its like the 1970s all over. The difference is that George Young isn't walking through the door this time.
Daboll is using Lions drama with Glowinski lol
I've been very critical of Thibs so I have been keying on him so I just don't judge him on the stat sheet. So far, yes they drop him into coverage at times but when he does rush the QB he gets stopped cold and just hugs the blocker. No pass rush moves, so far he is a non factor again after pitching a complete shut out last week.

Yup. DT and EDGE are the two biggest needs on this D. Definitely need someone to pair with Dex on that front.
They finally let Hyatt run a route

Totally agree. I was saying secondary might be the area of least need, depending on whether we keep McKinney/Adoree or not. If either of those are not re-signed then their respective positions become a clear need area on top of all the other ones.
There is no area on offense that is not a major area of need. I even include RB in that even if Barkley is kept. We have no quality depth there, and Barkley is declining.

If u can't count on a RB in big spot to get a yard when needed then he shouldn't be a big $$ cost to the team

Ok yea I agree 100%
I think on offense we really need to figure out what is being done at QB then get a wr1 and Oline help AGAIN
If Barkley has a hissy fit about any contract this offseason he should really reconsider his priorities.... He really dropped the ball on a 13mil a season contract
He has done nothing to earn anything more than 8 mil a season .... I even think his play has been worth 5-6 million a season
Barkley into the medical tent.

Never seen a veteran QB with less of a touch on dump off passes than TT.
If TT was ten years younger he would be our guy.
Hyatt is capable of getting so much separation.
I think Grey should get 80% of the snaps
Don't even risk injury to Barkley and don't even let him get 1k rushing... use it against him in contract negotiations

Agreed. He didn't burst onto the scene and play great from the jump, but he has been quietly improving all year. His trajectory has been like Thomas' rookie year. I'm optimistic about him moving fwd.
I'm so happy we had to "settle" for Okereke
He's been such a good LB
I'd love to see them use WanDale in RB. Let's see what the smaller type back with moves can do

Check down check down check you get the point lol
Not for nothing but the Comanders are tied 10-10 with the 9ers, and the Bills offense looks terrible today. They're only winning by six because the inept Pats have already turned it over three times in the first half. T
Sack was on the back, who ran right past the stunting blitzer. Couldn't catch the number; Corbin?
Kafka has to go
I really hope that change is made when it comes to coaching
I feel like the giants have been cursed for 15 years when it comes to defending the middle of the field
I want Nunez-rochez just to go because of his excessive celebration all season long
He's barely made a difference all season ... when he does it's most likely when the game is out of hand
Comes off as very self centered to me
Belton in the right place, right time.

100% agree, Chris
Kyren Williams is a living example of why we would be beyond foolish to hand Barkley even a medium sized contract like $6mm a year.
The Rams took Williams 164th overall and signed him to a 4 year rookie contract at under $1mm a year. There are guys like this in every draft. He has been great all year and gets the job done and is fresh and healthy. To blow a bunch of cash on a constantly injured, declining has-been like Barkley would be the height of foolishness. I really hope we don't do it. We desperately need that money for other positions. Every $1mm matters when you have to have 53 players all under the same salary cap. Especially when you're taking a $47mm hit on Daniel Jones.

But man his decision making at the line has been 50/50
Barkley definitely isn't the Barkley of old physically and the lack of blocking by the Oline has mentally derailed his decision making. Hesitates too much. Barkley is still the Giants best offensive weapon imo.
Ward got the sack
But that was due to Thibs
Giants simply lack appreciable talent.
I have a feeling all three coordinators (Kafka, McGaughey, and Wink) are getting the axe after this season.

Hey may be ... but they don't view him as that
Love the guy and he's a class act
But he acted entitled and childish in the off-season
Schoen made the right call.... Honestly if he would have taken that 13-14 mil a season contract that would have been terrible looking right now

Agreed nice play. But we also need to recognize Thibs gets many sacks due to good coverage. We need to see ALOT more of the type pressure he just created.

As much as I dislike the Ravens, i admit that they are the best team in the league. Barring an injury to Jackson, nobody beats them the rest of the way this season. They are that good. Great coaching, personnel and ownership. What the Giants should aspire to, but aren't even close to at this point.

He isn't going to win every battle ... they should stop wasting snaps throwing him into coverage and he needs another pass rusher to share the attention
Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 31, 2023, 02:57:47 PMOur team is getting ground down by a team with much better players and a much better coach. It's sad to watch, but it's very representative of where we are right now.
But they refuse to quit, as limited as they are in their skillset, compared to their opponents, who are off their game today.
But when they sack the QB, then my Polish compadre returner falls asleep and let's the ball go over his head, you realize it's a Keystone Komedy Kaper.

And we are handing the ball off obviously giving up on the drive .... So sad
Wow!
SLAYTON!!!
Hard for Barkley to do anything when after his first step there are already 2 defenders in his face
Yay!
TD Giants!
See what happens when we take a shot!
Great throw!
The most important part was Barkley block
Pick that one out!

Funny, their were several here who claimed Lamar wasn't a top 10 QB, wouldn't make more that DJ, and DJ was fundamentally better. I wonder how they feel about Lamar now, who's going to win his 2d MVP.
We just need Slayton to keep putting on the jets

Baltimore's good but Miami's smoke and mirrors.

5 more sacks against the Giants. Let's keep blaming the QB and think if we had Mahommes instead of 81 we'd only have 13 against us. /sarcasm/

Belton in right spot again
Another pick by Great Dane Belton!
Yay
I always knew Belton could be useful... I remember being told he's shown absolutely nothing
And Belton does it again!
OK, he was there, but he caught it, he's a playmaker and defensive player of the game!
Peace!
Barkley has no more balance ... he was falling over before being touched
He's scared and preparing to be hit
There it is. Barkley cannot be counted in big spot to get a yard.
He got it on 4th down so if u wanna crush me have at it. But I don't have confidence in him in short yardage.

It's both though, I don't know anyone that thinks the oline is good, the qb play hasn't been good either all season. It's not an either or, both need to be addressed.
Just play Grey

Jeff, I am agreeing with you.
Having been spoiled with great Giant defenses who took pride stopping the run, seeing this team get trampled over, time and time again, really sickens me.
Then, to see it followed up with a missed extra point attempt, snaps me out of it and makes me realize this is a completely different football era.
Then, to make matters worse, Hyatt's great catch is nullified by a holding call.
Shep can go as well.

Tyrod is having an up and down game.

Please. He is a back up QB. Sadly his game today might be the best played game by a Giant QB this season. What does that tell you?
Waller gotta catch that. Now it's 3rd 11 and he is not in game. Coaching is strange and inconsistent. If Waller is a top weapon why isn't he in game at 3rd and 11 as a TE???????
GO FOR IT WE ARE NOT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS
Waller needed to come up with that. It wasn't an easy catch but it's one a player with his hype level and contract has to make.
#55 on Giants was just held on that run. This is absurd the NFL refs blow
Call the game BOTH ways!!!!!!!!
Despite that Gillen shank for 46 yards net, he has kicked very well today. His form has looked clean as well so it looks like they were able to isolate and protect the ailing Groin.
Sorry to all the Ronnie haters, but that's a good news story for them, and especially the Scottish Hammer.

Lots to unpack, but I'm generally pleased they came to play and didn't quit. However, they didn't make the key plays when they needed to.
