I've been watching "The Old Man" when each episode comes on and I have to say, it drags a little after some of the early fight scenes. Hopefully it picks back up and brings back the action

Watched "Gold" last night on Hulu starring Zac Efron. Can't say that I suggest it or that you shouldn't watch it. It's different. Like a lost person surviving on an island, but with the caveat that if you survive, you are a billionaire. A long slow movie of a man trying to survive in the inhabitable deserts of Australia where he has found the largest gold deposit ever found above ground. Had one of the most bizarre endings I have ever seen

Just finished season 3 of The Boys, it's still holding up

I am in the middle of season 3 of the Umbrella academy it's holding up but neither season 2 or 3 was as good as season 1.

I started watching Stranger Things (I had people suggest it, but it never really appealed to me).  I am in the middle of season 2, I am glad I started watching it.

I have been watching Obi-Wan, but I have to confess I find it boring.  I liked the Mandalorian and Bobba Fet but now that they are back in the main Star Wars, it's losing it for me.  I find the main Star Wars universe not that compelling and frankly pretty poor Sci-Fi.

I am still on Old Man and Dark Winds.

I think both are good. Old Man is the better of the two IMO, but Dark Winds is solid and definitely watchable. I can comfortably recommend both of them.

I would still say the two best series I have seen in the past 12 months are Dopesick and The Offer. By a substantial margin too.

I have finished The Treminal List and found it very good. As I said befote it starts out like gang busters gets a bit talkie in about episode 5 but finishes strong. If you are into revenge type series where the good guy will stop at nothing to exact his revenge on the baddies you will like this. No awards for actig here but lots of action.

Come on guys, I'm sure we are all watching something, let's hear about it.

We finally finished watching "Lost In Space' after a lengthy break from the last season. I liked the first two seasons, but the last one, well, they just ran out of ideas. Special Effects were very good, and if you were any fan of the original TV series, you might like this a bit more. When I was reviewing it, when we watched, my main theme was that no matter what peril our fearless clan got into and there were many, you always knew nothing bad was going to happen and that alone, takes a lot of the energy out of this series for me.

So moving on, we have found a new series to watch, 'Inventing Anna' stsarring all us Ozark fans, Julia Garner (Ruth) in a completely different type of role and she is just great in this. As most series these days it is only 8-9 episodes and this is year one (I doubt if there will be a year 2).
Just a brief synopsis, Anna has basically fooled all of high Society and NY financial people into thinking she is rich and wants to buy a building on Park Ave and make it into a foundation for herself. We watched episode one and thought it was silly and boring, but once it really gets going, it really piqued our interest. We are now 6 episodes in and we watch one a night and can't wait for the next one. This series has no action, and a lot of cursing, but it is fascinating how one woman with 'balls' can hoodwink entire financial institutions into going along with her and her plans. Whenever she gets in trouble, she always finds ways to manipulate people into believing her and just her brashness goes a long way.
Not giving anything away because it starts with her getting caught and a reporter is a sort of delving into the story and thru flashbacks, we see how she accomplished all this.
Very entertaining, and Ms. Garner is just a joy to watch in a great role for her.

Back in mid-June I watched the first episode of the final season of Stranger Things. Last night I finally watched the second episode. What was once a series in the Steven Spielberg mold - light, fanciful, kid-centric, (ie: Goonies) - has morphed into a true, edge of your seat horror story. I'll try to burn my way through the remaining episodes because it's quite good, and I want to see how this series wraps up. But also because I want to begin watching the latest, and final, episodes of Better Call Saul.

I watched "Inventing Anna" a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. It's very close to the real Anna for whom the movie was made. And Garner absolutely nails the role and looks somewhat similar to the real Anna. Garner is an up 'n comer IMO after her role on Ozark. And she's going to be a female star who didn't make it to the big screen because of a pretty face and oversexed body. She simply has real talent. Highly recommend the series. The real Anna has been in the news lately concerning legal issues and even the building in the movie, which is the real building the real Anna tried to buy is in the news lately

I've basically been keeping up with "Only Murders in the Building" and "The Old Man" - both on Hulu. I like Only Murders.. more than the Old Man, but that's just my personal taste. I hate having to wait a week for each episode. At least for anyone wanting to check out "Only Murders in the Building", the first season is available to binge and the first 4 or 5 episodes of the second season

I watched the first season of "Quantico" that I found interesting and I liked it okay. Unfortunately, my girlfriend did not so I'm not on to season two. She has done some serious complaining about my taste in movies lately so I've let her choose most of the shows the last few days. I won't recommend them unless you are into teen movies and romances 

I did get to binge watch all three movies of "The Expendables"...lotta action, lotta killin, massive explosions, interesting military machinery and guns, etc. Most interesting is the long, long list of incredible Hollywood stars who are in this movie who almost always play lead rolds. Here's just some of them:

 Just to add some stuff. I watched the first Expendables and it was OK, but I had absolutely no interest in watching some old guys trying to stay young, doing things that should be left to the younger generation. Plus, it is all about getting these has-beens air time. Anyway, if you enjoyed it, great, just not my cup of tea.

As far as Anna, I love how they introduce every episode--"Everything is true, except the parts that are made up."

We were going to start watching Murderers. but we opted for Anna instead. We will definitely try it once we are done with Anna.

I am still waiting on The Old Man and Dark Winds to finish, Once they are done, I will watch them both. I know the missus won't watch them, so it's all on me.

I think I know something you and your lady can watch and you both may like it. I have been watching this series on Netflix, Sex Education. I really thought it would be down and dirty and my wife wouldn't like it, but I was completely surprised. It is a British comedy/drama about some High School kids, some straight some gay, some male, some female, and their trials and stuff during High School. The lead boy's mother is a therapist and he joins another girl and they start a sort of sex-ed thing in school where other kids pay them for advice. It does get a lot more complicated, but it is very light most of the time but does have some drama. I just finished season 2 (out of 3) and watch when I have some free time. It is not a series that will make you have to watch but you can come back anytime and still know exactly where you left off. I find it very enjoyable, told my wife to join in, but she sees Sex Education and she thinks it's a porno thing and it is about as far from that as one can get. Your lady will like this.

My girlfriend and I tried "Sex Education" and she didn't like it. She can't stand British accents or something silly like that. She's a hard girl to please when it comes to television shows and movies

Speaking of watching a movie that the wifey will love is "Jane the Virgin" (I believe it's on Netflix). It was the most watched show on Netflix for several months and set records until Ozark blew everything out of the water. Every woman I've ever told to give it a try comes back and tells me it's their favorite show. There's enough murder and mystery to even keep men interested. It's really a fun show to watch

Did you ever get a chance to watch Banshee? You do need an HBO add on for that and you can probably get 10 days free on the Hulu site. You might be able to binge it in 10 days, but will be a little tough

We have done the Jane The Virgin thing, for a couple of seasons. Yes, my wife loved it but I tired of it after a couple of seasons. I just felt it got overly silly. The premise is great. but it just wasn't my thing. If I told my wife we would go back to it, she would jump at it, but she just doesn't like to watch shows by herself, and I won't go back.

There are several shows that I left mid-stream, like 'This is Us' I believe on NBC. I simply loved the show thru it's first 2-3 seasons, couldn't get enough of it, but it constantly got morbid, the way one family can encounter so much grief and tragedy and it never stopped. I don't know if you ever tried it, but we were watching, I think Season 4, and when the mother started showing signs of Altimerzers, I said enough, no more for me. (MY Mom passed from that). It wasn't just that, it was everything, one on top of another. Good show but it's just too much for me.
Sorry about the Sex-Ed thing, knowing what you write, I thought since it was light and funny, she would like it. (Don't let her watch Fawlty Towers. or Monty Python shows).

Yeah, know what you mean. I watched "This is Us" for most of the first season and it tailed off and I lost interest. My daughter was addicted to it...not me.

One of my favorite shows that tailed off after 8 seasons was "Blacklist". I was addicted to the show forever, but when one of my favorite characters got murdered, it just wasn't the same after that. I haven't watched season 9 and I guess there will be a season 10 and that will be it. But man oh man, couldn't wait for it to come on every week. All my friends were talking about it and everyone was just as hooked as I was

"Lost" was a really great show that tailed off. According to one source that I read, they took advice from the series "Twin Peaks" (the series, not the awful movie), which was my favorite series right up until they solved who was the killer in the second season. After that, they tried different scenarios and different mysteries, but it died on the vine because the murder was solved too quickly. The producers of "Lost" took a page from Twin Peaks and knew that if the mystery of the island was solved, the show would whither and die on the vine, so they kept adding new people and new mysteries to try and keep it going. First three or four seasons were "must watch TV", then it started going down hill until the final episode that left more confusion than answers

I'm currently watching Only Murders in the Building on Disney+.

It's a comedy/drama about a murder in an apartment block and a group of true crime Podcasters try and solve it.

I find it funnier than my Mrs but on the whole, we both like it. Easy to watch and episodes are only 30 mins. It's worth a look if you've not got anything else to watch.

I recently finished Stranger Things (a real return to form) and working through Better Call Saul. Both are excellent but needs far more time invested than Only Murders...

Two shows I've never watched will make many of you gasp. I haven't seen "Better Call Saul" or "Breaking Bad". I started watching Breaking Bad a couple times and just couldn't get into it. I also tried Better Call Saul about five years ago and just dropped out for reasons that I can't remember (pre-Covid I had an active social life)

Regardless, last night I finally gave "Better Call Saul" another chance and after four episodes, I love it. So happy to find something to fill my evenings with and to top it off, my girlfriend likes it too so there's no power struggle over the remote

It's pretty challenging to watch and fully appreciate Better Call Saul if you have never seen Breaking Bad, isn't it?
