Quote from: Bill Brown on October 08, 2023, 05:40:57 AMLenn. I saw The Caine Mutiny yesterday and thought it was very well done. I thought the defense attorney was very well played. I won't make a comparison to the movie but I have gone on record saying I never cared much for Bogart. I would recommend this version.

I think the next one on my list is Equalizer 3. (Thank you Superbox 4).  I may have to wait for awhile as I told my son in law I'd watch it with him and he's not easy to catch up with sometimes.

You didn't say if you have seen the original. In MVHO, in the original, they were able to show, in greater detail, the final straw, the cyclone that almost took out the Caine (I think it was a hurricane in the movie), where Mr. Maryk basically had to remove Queeg and save the ship. In this version, it was mentioned but when you actually see it, it was much more compelling. Other than that, I fully agree, that this was very well made and even with all the courtroom scenes, it would probably be as I would expect, very stern, as the head judge was played, and all to the fact, not like courtroom dramas on TV where it is more acting and performing for the jury.

Again, if you've never seen the original, the ending to this as the same as the ending in the movie.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

A while back there was a thread about how to watch the Giants when the broadcast won't be showing in your area. I believe it was Matt that suggested the Superbox 4. After looking at Superbox I decided to spend the money and purchased one on Amazon.  That was a couple of weeks ago and I am more than happy with it. The viewing choices are amazing but this Sunday will be the real reason I bought this box.

The broadcast map is out today and the Giants will play on CBS at 1:00. The Patriots will also also play at 1 on CBS. The local CBS station will show the Patriots but because I have this box I will have several local CBS stations that will cover the Giants.

In the past several years I have used DOFU and it is ok but links get shut down and it is a nuisance.

I watched "Totally Killer" on Prime and I really enjoyed it. It's a comical "horror" movie that is written in the form of "Back to the Future". In short, 35 years ago, a serial killer killed three high school girls who were close friends of a woman who now has a daughter in high school. Now in present day Halloween night, that mother gets killed when the killer returns to finish what he started 35 years ago - to kill four hotshot mean girls. So the daughter ends up going back in time in order to stop the murders in order to save her mother's life. Best Halloween movie since "Hocus Pocus"

I agree with this review 100%. I just watched this last weekend not expecting much and came away pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Quite a few laughs and a good "who done it" on top of that.

Just watched Joe Pickett and Longmire

Joe pickett- Game warden Joe Pickett and his family navigate the shifting sociopolitical climate of a rural town on the verge of economic collapse; when a murder victim winds up on Joe's doorstep, the Picketts find themselves embroiled in a larger conspiracy.

Longmire- Based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, this contemporary crime drama stars Australian actor Robert Taylor in the title role, the charismatic and dedicated sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming.

Both were really amazing

This week Bass Reeves drops on paramount + by the Yellowstone creator and should be just as great as all the other series.

One of the things that made me laugh is the girl with a bag of weed and was asked, "what is with all the stems in it?". Being a 60's lad, I can relate

Another was the guy with the "inappropriate shirt" because society hasn't been hit with woke mentality yet

A lot of laughs for me anyway

Has anyone see The Haunting of Hill House?

I've heard phenomenal things from everyone that has seen it but it's not really my genre.

I watched the first of an eight part British series, Bodies, on Netflix this evening. Interesting premise, but there's too many questions so far. Might possibly have something to do with time travel. We'll see.

"Get Gotti"

3-Episode Documentary about John Gotti. Available on Netflix.

Also loved "Lupin", 3 Series of 6 Episodes each if I have it right in mind. Also on Netflix.

I have Apple TV, but rarely watch it so I decided to either cancel the service or see if there was anything I might like. I've heard good things about "Morning Show", but never gave it a chance because the genre seemed uninteresting to me and the combination of Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell seemed a little eclectic and not up my ally. I like Aniston, and I like Witherspoon, but the two together seems too odd to fuse

Anyway, I gave it a shot and got hooked. Binged the first 4 episodes and I like it a lot. It reminds me a little of "Suits", only instead of a law firm scheme, it's a journalism company scheme. Backstabbing, lying, betrayal, power struggle, sex, etc. Aniston is the "old pro" that has carried the show for years, is cranky, very serious, and on the verge of a mental breakdown, Witherspoon a foulmouthed, trailer trash, unprofessional, hick from down south, and Carell a sexual predator. Supporting cast has recognizable, experienced actors that I'd think are phenomenal

Today I watched the live version of Mulan. I had watched the animated version a few years ago with my grandson and thought it was a interesting story so was curious as to how the live version would do. I thoroughly enjoyed it. They did an excellent job of being true to the original story. Very well done.

We are up to date on all the episodes. We like the show but it does have its ups and downs. As for Apple TV, they just raised their subscription price from $6.99 to $9.99. Not that the three bucks will break me but it's a 43% increase. I think ten bucks is still a good value but this is the only show I'm watching on it right now. My gun range recently raised my premium membership 60% and they didn't raise the walk-in range rental price, which annoyed me so I canceled my membership. Too many businesses are taking advantage of inflation in my opinion and in some cases raising prices to make more profit. Rant over.

Just a heads up - putting it there for other fans of the Reacher series (on Prime)

"Reacher" Season 2 drops December 15 (hopefully, the whole series)
