The real question is-  Was the first injury truly "freak," or was it the result of structural/congenital issues?

In fact, who knows his medical history through college? Certainly not us (obviously, doctors/management do).

If they let him play at all, I'll assume there was nothing noteworthy there prior to coming to the Giants.

Can someone please explain the cap ramifications if he has to retire?

It is possible to IR him next year then release him with the designed out? Or does he have to be fit to play in order to be IR'd?
