I think that was pretty obvious to anyone evaluating where we are
First off, Schoen is a believer in Jones, regardless of the hordes of naysayer fans. They aren't looking to replace him...sorry guys
Secondly, Schoen needed a legitimate backup after losing Taylor, and Lock fit that bill perfectly because 5M is nothing for a young, experienced, backup QB with a bazooka for an arm. Some have said we should have gotten Minshew (older and 3 inches shorter than Lock) who signed for 25M for 2yrs. It was really a no-brainer to grab Lock
Great deal for a backup QB who could become more in the future. And if Drew and wife are excited to come to NY...couldn't ask for a better move by the Giants...IMVHO
The meltdown here and on socials will be epic if come the draft it turns out GM Schoen has been saying exactly what he meant ever since season ended:
Jones is the starter when fit
Lock is the good back-up who can start
They will presumably throw to a new WR1 in Nabers/Odunze.
Minny priming themselves to move up possibly increases the odds on this being the reality.
I dont believe for a minute Schoen believed in Jones
He was fulfilling a promise to Mara that Jones would be the starter
As soon as Jones trips and he will....Schoen will finally be free to make his own moves
Jones showed last year how truly limited he really was
Look for the Giants to draft. top QB prospect. Also Tommy will get another shot

london: As usual, great post. Had a good laugh, too. Thanks. Bob PS. Do you believe Harrison, Jr., is certain to be gone (as of today)?

Yes, I think so. Arizona and Chargers both badly need WR after free agency. I can see one trading out but not both.

Bob, you've had a good decade run of laughing at fans who hate losing. Must be nice to have that point of view.

I am pretty sure all fans hate losing.

I've heard from some who don't care about winning or losing, they enjoy the process regardless.
And Wally Pipp was told Lou Gerig was a place holder LOL

I'm not London Blue, but a pre-draft nut job who wishes to answer the question you posed to him.
Here's what I find (and it is probably total BS, but whatever). I have now played the Mock Draft Simulator close to a thousand times. Probably 10+ times a day since before the Super Bowl. Both before the Giants FA moves and after
What I have discovered is that Harrison is still on the board at 6, roughly 50% of the time. The majority of simulated mocks by thousands of other fans has the Giants taking Nabors at 6, about 40% of the time
If you'd like to run a simulated draft yourself, go to https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-draft-simulator It's quick. Just pick "Giants", go to the bottom of page and push "Enter Draft Room", then the orange "Start" button. You can do a complete draft in about 5 minutes time
Here's the result of thousands of others who run the simulated draft:

Jolly: Thanks for the info.
50/50 is about what I figured, which is why I keep saying I'm praying we get lucky once (it's been a while!).
As for Nabors, I'm not sure whether I'd take him or Odunze if Harrison is gone.

Doc: Actually, my laugh wasn't about us fans, it was about how we view what Schoen says. It amuses me because IMO his answers depend totally on what question he was answering and the surrounding circumstances.
He'll never knowingly tip his hand about the draft or free-agency, but when asked to evaluate areas where the team needs help or status of individual players I believe he tries to be as honest as the day is long, with the only exception being the necessity to completely avoid answering specific questions about a player's health.
We here (and nearly all fans) hate losing because it usually results in wasting four months each year the Giants field a crummy team (whether that is due to bad luck with injuries or bad management by those in charge).

My apologies, Bob. Thanks for the thoughtful response.
"Jones is the starter".
Till we need a spark :)
Hopefully it won't be in Game 1 when we are trailing 40 - 0
QB will be a very fluid decision this year as the temperature gets turned up on Shoen and Coach Sparky's britches.

GO: I'm not expecting to get an easy opening game (as usual) but we can always hope! Bob
When they say Jones is the starter they always use "Expected" every single time. He's the expected starter until he's not.
Does Jones do track officiating on the side as a "Starter"?
I doubt he is still our "Starter" by game 5. The man has no game
He was a loser in College and has the almost identical losing record in the pros
When is the last time a losing QB came out of College and was an NFL winner??
Gettleman was sent down by lil Bill to destroy us
Russell Wilson was told the same thing.

It is interesting what hills some people find themselves on and decide today is a nice day to die.
