Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on May 10, 2024, 02:11:15 PMIt was dumb. Nothing more, nothing less. Let's hope he learns from it.

Why was it dumb?  Betting on himself, right?  What's the harm?

Bet on them being rookie of the year?  What's the harm?

That was really interesting and something we dont typically know.

Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on May 08, 2024, 04:49:45 PMSome around here have argued he was top-10 in 2022, largely based on his QBR that season (he was 6th and largely so due to running contribution). But to me, 2022 would not be good enough in 2024 because it would be a "top-10" season by efficiency. Again, my point was that it hinges somewhat on the "top-10" season we're talking about. If 2024 is like 2022, that "top-10" performance doesn't do the trick.

I agree with you.  Must be more than 2022 for sure.

Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on May 08, 2024, 10:41:42 AMI feel exactly the opposite because if they're picking higher via a bad record, a top QB is more likely to be within reach. Though, I'm viewing this top-10 season as being the result of efficiency (akin to 2022) rather than volume--I think the latter would make the decision to replace him harder, though not insurmountable depending on circumstances (that likely can't be anticipated at this time).

Replace a top 10 performance at toughest and most important NFL position with a rookie likely to do poorly?  Why not just draft one and sit him for a year?

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 08, 2024, 10:19:21 AM4 out of 6 would be an impressive batting average even for the best GMs

Every team needs a draft like this once in a while to turn things around.  Look at Rams 2023 draft.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 07, 2024, 12:40:54 PMDoes anyone believe if Jones plays like a top 10 QB but the team has a losing season, the Giants will not pursue QB in next year's draft (assuming there is a good one and they are in a realistic position to acquire him).

I believe if DJ is top 10 but Giants are sub 0.500 he'll return in 2025.

Given how bad they were, Giants need real production from say 4 draft picks for a) this draft to be considered very successful and b) to help get out of the sub 0.500 doldrums.

Nabers - easy pick
Nubin - likely pick
Phillips - hopeful pick
Johnson - dark horse pick
Tracy - should given poor RB pool on team

Nothing's changed except Nabers so WTF?

It is so good to see MSG electric and loud again.  Brunson scored but all contributed a lot.  O with his two steals toward the end.  Di with his last three.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Slayton "should" be back

I'd like to see him back as I think a Giants rotation with him is stronger.  That said, Nabers, Robinson and Hyatt have much better hands.  Slayton offers a deep threat that complements the team.

Due to his contract amount, play as a top 10 QB.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 03, 2024, 06:37:46 PMWinner Pinnock, Bobby Ok, and Flott- Pinnock because he gets to stay at FS and continue to grow with Nubin at Strong. Flott because drafting Phillips gets him another Shot at boundaOK, Bobby Ok will thrive with all the talent around him on the front 7, and only get better.

Losers- Belton, Bellinger, and Gray- Drafting a safety let's Belton know that he will only get snaps if he beats Pinnock. Since Bellinger has been drafted we traded for a TE, and drafted another. I think he's the first person at risk of losing his job because Theo is a better talent now than Bellinger is now. Gray got stuck in the doghouse and never got out, maybe taking KR duties away finally will let him focus.

I see Nubin as a better free safety.  I think that's what he played in college as well.

I am not surprised.  That year felt to me the NFL teams falsely manufactured prospect QB talent than was actually there.  Other than Lawrence nobody during the college football season said Wilson or Lance would be top 5 picks.

Giants success normally was a result of good 1st/2nd round picks and a few mid-rounders that became very good players.

Under Schoen/Dabs they've missed (at least early reviews) on some 1sts/2nds) and seem to have nothing to show for any of their mid-round picks.

When will this change?
