Quote from: Messiah717 on Today at 11:20:30 AMThis core has proven twice bowing out meekly in the ECF is as far as they can go.  If parts aren't replaced the same breakdowns will keep occurring. They need more than just swapping out role players.

We need to pull a Florida type trade from 2 years ago.

But given he salaries and limited movement clauses all the big names have Dolan and Drury will need to pony up some extra "salve" to get these players to agree to leave and relocate.  I doubt seriously if Dolan will agree to that.

So in reality I guess we better pray a couple of players take the Laffy jump in their performance.

If I could change out just 2 players it would be Trouba and Kreider.  Kreider I never see toughness on ice or imposing his will.  Trouba.....tough as they come.  But i question his puck intelligence.  Left our goalie hung out to dry too many times for my liking aside from the dumb post season penalties.  In fact our Dmen were to me a disgrace vs. Florida.  Miller needs to establish a solid foundation of consistent play, not this great/sucks roller coaster.
Protecting our goalie needs to be priority #1 ALL THE TIME.  Getting that point across is up to our HC and his staff.

If no/very little changes in the roster just be prepared for a rinse/repeat next 2-3 seasons with a gradual decline in the standings and 2nd round exit as those around us improve.

Drafting will be crucial for this organization from here on out.

BTW, anyone notice that the HC of Edmonton was actually OUR HC at Hartford.  Shades of Mike Sullivan.  Wonder if he got any consideration before we hired our current HC ???

Ultimately, I expect him in camp at a reduced price.

I just don't think he new music career is going to replace $9 million or repair his broken heart.

Big Blue Huddle / Preseason QB rotation

IMO no longer do we have the luxury of blowing off the last preseason game by resting all the starters.

Face it, we have 3 QB's and NO honest idea of who will/might lead us. Factor in for you DJ fans what IF he is not ready.  I realize he is the default starter, but he needs work, lots of work.  Not the kind of work you get in practice (where you make few if any reads) or playing one series in the first 2 preseason games.  And let's not even factor in him getting comfortable with his NEW offensive line and receivers.

So how would you handle all of this ?? Who plays when and for how long  ??  And should it affect the pecking order as to who is the starter each of these 3 weeks ??

Me???  We have no designated #1, every one gets a half minimum each of the first 2 preseason games. And no sticking it to #3 by playing with camp fodder that will be cut on Monday.
I mean cmon 85 players dressing and getting appreciation time for PS game 3 ????  When you already know as coaches who a solid 15 - 20 cuts will be.

We need competition.  We need answers.  Injuries happen, be it preseason or inseason, so that can not enter into our thinking at this point.  We need players and cohesion.

And we need it before 40 - 0 or when we are 1 - 7 at midseason.

Back in the day (the 50's and 60's) preseason games 5 and 6 (yes Virginia we played 6 of those boogers) were treated as dress rehearsel games for the regular season.  Starters players and a lot.  They viewed it as a springboard into the regular season.

Not sure I understand the new KO, but from everything I have read it will place the person who kicks off more in a position of involvement in runback prevention than the olden days of touchbacks.

So surely we do not want to put Gano in that position and go thru multiple kickers via injury.

And since all these blowhard HC and GM's rave about what fine athletes these players are I am hoping Coach Sparky is at least thinking ahead to protecting Gano and find 1 or 2 guys who would be on the 53 anyway.   Actually I doubt it but then I believe a box of rocks is on a parallel plane with our HC.

But I digress, any candidates jump to mind at this point.  Because face it, coaches in the league will not hesitate to pass on the opportunity to disable the other teams PK given the opportunity.  And now the opportunity will exist in spades.

Okay from where I sit we need to hope Chiltyl (sp.) and Kaako take the big step up that Laffy did this year.

We need Laffy with 2 linemates of his choosing on power play #1 and Panarin dropped to PP #2.

Kreider I give up. Stuck with him and he will always be what we have seen in the past.  Hard to believe a 30 - 40 goal scorer can be considered such a non factor, but playoff facts do not lie.

We just are not built for a Cup and have no room for roster movement.  Entertaining and money making group for both themselves and Dolan, ultimately heart breaking and gut wrenching for us fans.  Yes, so close, but watching Florida seemingly not that close.

Sorry for this post.  I am just so damned depressed my thoughts are rather convoluted.  Hell I still miss John Tortorella.

What is the website which shows salaries for every team by individual  ??

Who are the Rangers besides Mika and Kreider who have "mo trade clauses" ??

My biggest fear about this season is we will be forced to stand pat next season for the most part.

Heck...why choose ??

When playing against our OL you get to have both.

My God, just cut this guy.   NOW.

He sure ain't all in about his profession.

I would rather see five more Daniel Jones threads than this guy's name in any association with the Giants.

If we can't do better than Waller for this team, then just blow it up and join the USFL.

Two things about this series...

1.  Fox is definitely plying injured

2.  Equally as important Florida is just better at imposing their will and the Rangers are.

those 2 things it would take a heavy dose to "puck luck" to salvage this series.

Looking forward to no Trouba next year.

Devin Singletary.

Hands down.

Remember where you heard it.

The first 7 - 8 minutes will be crucial.

Keep hitting them, no let up.  Heck dress Wheeler instead of Rempe if afraid of careless penalties.  Although this kid has been exemplary.

Bring it and bring it hard, this series can still be lost.

Finish it while they are mystified how we won game 3.

No way Daboll allows DeVito to pass Lock on the depth chart.

If given the chance DeVito will be gone.

Bill Walton and Larry Bird....the two BEST all around complete basketball players of an era that is now dead and buried in basketball.

Watching them play together in 1986 was pure heaven.

Rest easy Mr. Walton.  And thank you for being you...beyond basketbll.

Time to dress the big boys.

Hitting and pain.

Make them look over their shoulders.

Do that and this series goes 7.

Don't pin your ears back and we go down in 5.

By contrast Jones was a big time loser at small time Duke

Where are we here, in a hall of mirrors?  DeVito is better than the robotic Jones by a country mile

The delta is that Jones is now Mara's very expensive adopted sun

It seems the Giants will let DeVito float and lost to waivers....he will wind up in NE as the next Tom Brady   My prediction

Jones has been touched by the hand of Mara.

Much like Glynn Griffing and Bob Timberlake.
