Quote from: londonblue on Today at 04:30:35 PMSpecial teams guy and offers a bit of interior schemed pass rush together with reliable tackling but his limited athleticism tends to means those tackles are further off the LoS than with Okereke and McFadden.

A surprise to me with Mahogany, Boyd and Wingo on the board. Have to assume some medical issue with Mahogany.

london: I think his potential exceeds just special teams. He will be voted most likely to get himself injured because he's under-sized, but the kid is fearless and willing to sacrifice his body to make a tackle. Bob

On his first point... he himself admits he's not surprised, so why list it as a surprise?

Second point: the percentage of picks traded over those not traded over the NFL's long draft history is miniscule; as for the aspect that Schoen has been more active in the past, maybe THOSE were the aberrations and it's actually his style to stay put.

Third point: This is great news for the Giants. Unless Schoen got "aced out" by teams ahead of him and was actually trying his darnedest to get a guard (highly unlikely) it indicates that he is very pleased with his free-agency results and may also indicate that hey has reason to suspect several of his own drafted OL's are about to "come through" for the team this season. I do not believe I'm grasping at straws in mentioning the latter point.

The #Giants select Darius Muasau at pick 183, an undersized LB out of UCLA

He was a tackling machine who recorded 440 tackles in college and led his teams in tackles in each of the last four seasons.

He attended Hawaii initially and transferred to UCLA in 2022. He will be a depth behind Okereke and McFadden. Muasau had 573 special teams snaps and was a special teams MVP as a freshman at Hawaii.

I will get to his film over the next few days.

Rich: Sounds like a legitimate "pot shot" (which reminds me... one under-sized linebacker I thought would do well in the NFL - Eagles drafted him 2-3 yrs ago (Georgia Bulldogs) isn't really panning out. They over-paid. Bob

I voted for Phillips, but as stated previously Nabors was ranked higher than 6th best player in this draft by EVERY draftnik and alleged draft expert... so it's unanimous that Giants got more than "fair value" for Pick Six. Bob

I voted with the majority (so far). Solid draft. No obvious question-marks or lemons that I can see.

I do watch a lot of college ball and am very familiar with all but one of our picks (the last one).

As for those I know about... they're each people on whom IMO it's well worth taking a chance. Money well spent.

Maybe they've planning to convert him to fullback lol (or to a "need-2-yds-RB" as others have discussed). Bob

Never heard of him. /sarcasm/ He's on Brugler's Beast... must have a special skill of which I'm unaware. Bob

Rich: IMO, we're not short on topics right now, so why talk about guys who've never played an NFL game? Bob

PS. Sorry to be a stick in the mud... appreciate all you do for this site, but IMO this one could be brought up in late summer (maybe).

Explosive... boom (or bust lol).  Bob

Theo is a very good player and I'm confident he'll try his darnedest to every job/task the Giants hand him.  Bob

Quote from: GloryDays on Today at 01:50:05 PMI think this team just doesn't get it. The offense lives and dies through their line.
Just throwing bodies at it doesn't work. Other teams' leftovers is not the way to have a dominant O line.
Just look at the Steelers. Their O line was decent, check their draft!
Evan Neal is a bust, who is the RT we can rely on to stop the pressure on DJ from that edge? Are they really relying on Eluemunor or Cajuste?
Who is behind Schmitz? Even if he improves, who's backing him up, Morrissey?
This to me is weird.. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it. They are ignoring to address the line effectively, like they did last year too.

GDays: IMO they have confidence in OL's they've drafted in prior years -or- they plan to catch a veteran cut this summer or on final cut-down-day -or- they think they can draft a guard some time today -or- all of the above. Bob

Quote from: Hadron on Today at 09:25:26 AMThe Giants typically do well with certain picks in round 2: DT and safety. Here's hoping that trend continues.
Hadron: Long time, few posts... or have I been missing them somehow?  Bob

Quote from: Uncle Mickey on Today at 11:02:34 AMTackling technique is not picture perfect but his instincts, awareness , quick reaction time and the angles he takes are top notch.

Mick: Lawrence Taylor's tackling technique was also on and "as-needed" basis but he always got the job done. lol

Quote from: spiderblue43 on Today at 08:42:47 AMDave,

I concur. Wpuld rather have a corner, but Nubin is a great alternative.

I can't believe the Commodes traded with the Eagles, handing them DeJean. Cooper is going to burn them. How stupid.

spider: We see all the players you mentioned in your posts above very much the same. DeJean is a guy I wanted for the Giants because he can play safety and corner, but I think Eagles will try to make him a safety. Another good pick by the Eagles, IMO. Bob
