Big Blue Huddle / Re: The "Buffalo" Model
March 19, 2024, 09:50:50 AM
The Pats model was have Brady, be in a terrible division and build a great defense.  Guaranteed 5-6 wins in division, go 5-5 versus the rest of the league and you instantly have 10-11 wins and a shot at home field and a bye.  Worked for 10 years.  I think Buffalo could do the same thing.

If there are 4 blue chip QB's and 2 blue chip WR's and we pick 6th, just let the draft come to you and pick the BPA.

If Barkley ever gets into the Ring of Honor, then the entire concept is a farce!   :surrender:

I remember that Dallas had both Neal and Thibs as their top 2 players on their board.  I wonder how good Neal would be if Dallas got him?

I think Jolly used the term "misleading" I also think he used it correctly.  :greetings:

I'd really only be interested in Simmons at LB and McKinney at the right price.

Besides, we can draft a decent running back and make sure he has the traits we need, like blocking and receiving. There are always many options in the draft, we just need to be better at selecting the right guys with the right skillsets to be successful.

Sounds like a trade the Cowboys would make.

All good points Uconn, and i agree.  But where we either pick the wrong HC's or dump them too early, Dallas seems to hold onto them too long.  Garrett and McCarthy are both good examples.  I guess i'm just biased in my dislike for Dallas and i'd hate to work for JJ.  So maybe they're more stable but they're also as dysfunctional.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on January 24, 2024, 09:14:50 AMBut it's a fair question for sure. If I were a DC candidate with multiple options, I would want to go somewhere more stable like Dallas.

You think Dallas is more stable?  They haven't been to an NFC Championship, let alone a Super Bowl, in over 2 decades, they have an owner who is also the GM and the have a coach that is perennially on the hot seat and, by most accounts, should have been let go a couple years ago.  I'll give you that they have more talent but not stability.

I think Ed hit the nail on the head.  We can scout perfectly, but if we don't have the coaches to hone the skills of the players, it's fruitless.  We've seen OLinemen come here and get worse, not better.  I hope the new coaches can finally help build a good O Line!

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Should the Giants cut Waller?

With a new, even though he was here before, strength and conditioning coach, maybe Waller has a better chance at staying on the field.  That being said, I'm fine with keeping or cutting him.

How do you propose we get Daniels?  I don't think giving the farm away to move up to get him is wise and i don't think he's there when we pick.  I like him too, just think we screwed ourselves with a couple useless wins.  :surrender:

What if the Bears take Caleb and decide to trade HIM?  Kind of like, but not exactly like, the Manning for Rivers trade.  What would the Bears like in exchange for the QB and not the pick?  Just a thought...
