3,500-4,000 Yards
22-30 TD's
10-12 Int
65%
400-500 Yards rushing
95.0-98.0 RTG

I think he has to hit production and numbers like this for the Giants to keep him for the remainder of his three-year contract.

With the additions that he has, combined with him taking more chances, I believe this is within reason.

If he can do that he will be in the Pro Bowl and we will be deep in the playoffs. One can only hope

Quote from: Trench on Today at 12:26:16 PMExcellent debate. It shows how dug in everyone is towards their views and that is ok. I think the point being made is a QB can in fact win with a bad Oline or receivers - ( BUT maybe not consistently is the key)...but it can be done and has been done.

Another point on having a great o-line which I think is overlooked is the fact nobody had had better Olines and receivers than Dallas for a sustained period, yet they never win. I think that is very telling to the point of how much more important the QB is.

Trench,

Thank you for your comments and reasonable approach. You took into consideration both sides of the discussion without putting anyone down, and I really appreciated that, so thank you once again.

Good points about Dallas as well.

It's all going to come down to DJ and the offensive line.

I think the WRs will be fine. I think the running game will be middling but will be just enough to keep teams honest.

But I'm not as sold on the OL additions, and I have little to no hope of Neal improving - better OL coach or not. So if that unit continues to fail, then there's a real possibility the Giants are a bottom 5 offense.

And then with DJ, he needs to stay healthy first and foremost. And if healthy, he needs to play with confidence and he needs to be willing to take calculated risks. If he fails to do that, the Giants will be a bottom 5 offense. If we turn to Lock early enough in the year, I could see them being a bottom 10 offense.

Daniel Jones simply was awful last year. He can't be any worse..but that is a remarkably low bar for a 6th year pro.

Bottom line: Our heroes are probably near the worst offensively again. The QB of the future is still missing, and another draft and off-season is needed to get out of the doldrums

Go back and get a copy of Dave Klein's paperback, "Giants Again" which tells the most complete story of how the Giants worked through "The Wilderness Years" all the way to the other side with George Young, AND Ray Perkins getting the Giants into the 1981 playoffs. A gutsy call in the 1979 draft to pick Phil Simms, and luck on their side, in the 1981 draft, when the Saints took George Rogers with the first pick, which opened the door for the Giants to select Lawrence Taylor, and the rest is history.

Peace!

Back in the day I would drop notes to GY and he always answered. I still have a few 40+years later. Prior to the 81 draft I asked who he planned to select ( he was always frank and forthcoming in his responses ). He replied back .. I haven't even told my confessor who I'm taking. In a post draft note he thanked his lucky stars that the Saints were one of the 4 teams that had a higher grade on Rogers than LT. BTW, Rogers and LT won OROY andDROY respectively and this draft also produced 8 HOFers

He needs to show he can produce in the 2 minute drill both before halftime and especially at the end of the games. He has been sporadic at best in that area.

Lastly, he must win a playoff game this year and he has to beat Dallas and Philadelphia at least once each.

1. Stay injury free
2. Stop walking into sacks (ala Seattle game per PFF podcast).
3. Boom it downfield where applicable - trust the line and the guy to get open
4. Stop seeing ghosts
5. Restructure that contract - those future cap hits are brutal.

I don't have a number of yards or amount ot TDs but be in the top 10-13 of those categories.

That's off the top of my head and if he hits those, I'll be delighted. It means we've done okay.
