Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on Today at 05:04:27 PMPerhaps nobody. But i wouldn't take take Young over Jones.

Perhaps I'm wrong. But he shouldn't be last.

I think Darnold is likely to start the season in Minny, and Jones is definitely better than Darnold, at least in my eyes.

He may also be better than Brissett. Is he definitely, 100%, decisively better than Brissett? Possibly, but I'm not sure. I'd say probably, but I don't think it's some runaway, obvious thing.

He is very likely better than some of these incoming rookies, but we don't know that for sure yet, nor do we know which ones.

The rest of the QBs on this list, I'm sorry, but I don't see the evidence that Jones is clearly better than them. Could that change this year? Sure it could - these rankings are fluid. But right here, right now, I'm just not sure that that's the case.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on Today at 04:59:09 PMI'm not really disagreeing, but just as an exercise, and bearing in mind that incoming rookies are clearly a speculative projection in this, which QBs in this list have proven to be decisively worse besides Bryce Young?

Yellow, Green, and Blue are the same difficulty level and type. Yellow is rarely my first match.

You can't rank those who never played a down in the NFL. I made my own rankings and had him at 21.

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on Today at 04:21:58 PMI'm pretty sure players have been making these kinds of bets for as long as sports have existed.

The biggest takeaway for me is the need to coach young players to not put all their business out there. There's too much exposure with podcasts and social media. So young players have to be coached to exercise discretion in those informal settings.

We don't need to know all their business. Today it's a simple bet, and it sounds like Jayden Daniels was surprised Nabers made the bet public. Who knows what he'll be talking about tomorrow. How much grief could have been spared for the boat trip players if that photo was never made public? Young players need to learn to keep these things private, and then when they're retired they can share all the war stories they want.

Agreed, Doc. I don't really have an issue with the bet itself. Would people feel differently if it were $200 instead of 10 grand? Because $10k to these guys is like $200 to most regular Joes. $10k may even be less to them. A society that is obsessed with gambling (not just on sports but on stocks, real estate, crypto, art, etc) probably shouldn't be judging these kids for making a competitive proposition bet with each other.

What I think was foolish and unnecessary on their parts was publicizing it. But that's inevitably going to happen more these days with the advent of social media than it did 20 years ago and earlier.
