Brian Daboll, asked about the outside corner spot opposite Deonte Banks, says he's eager to see guys compete on the field in spring and camp, but adds: "I've got a lot of confidence in Flott" #Giants

Big Blue Huddle / Giants won the draft
Last post by brownelvis54 - May 11, 2024, 01:16:32 PM
Yes, the Giants won the draft simply because New England didn't take their offer. It is said that the Giants offered pick 6 and next year's 1st round pick to swap places with New England.

So, we take Maye, no weapons, questionable O-line, and no 1st round in the 2025 season? If this was done, it's very conceivable the Giants would have the #1 overall pick in 2025, which would have gone to New England.

It is also possible Joe Schoen would have been on the hot seat in 2026, these events would damage a already damaged franchise IMO. Dave Gettelman had four years with the Giants, to help turn the tide and the results were nothing to brag about. We are in year 3 of Joe Schoen's GM run.

We did the right things in this year's draft. I do suspect our record won't be very good. I also believe we will be picking in the top 5 in 2025, if true, the 2025 draft will be Schoen's legacy. He has to get our QB.

Sanders, Beck and Ewers are QBs that will be in play. Some might add Cameron Ward to the list. Regardless, for Joe Schoen, the 2025 draft needs to be his moment and again he lucky New England turned him down.

Big Blue Huddle / CBS Sports ranks Daniel Jones ...
Last post by todge - May 11, 2024, 12:52:58 PM
We should take note that CBS Sports as a network did not compile these rankings. A young reporter Cody Benjamin did. He is from Minnesota and in all likelihood is a Vikings fan.

He must have seen Jones dismantle his team in the 2022 Playoffs where he was clearly the best player on the field. He must be going by his 2023 performance where he only had 1.7 seconds to throw the ball because of a historically inept offensive line. Yes Jones was awful but you just can't play this game without pocket protection. I don't think Benjamin knows this.

Whatever the reason, everyone who read that ridiculous piece of trash knows you can't put rookies who have yet to play a snap ahead of any starter in the league. I have to think his bosses are not happy campers.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 11, 2024, 11:46:05 AMI'm not sure either Phil. As I said above, with Randle you get sometimes great play, but you pay a very big overall price for it. He's often very unreliable handling the ball and can be very poor with shot selection. When you net it all out I'm not sure if he's a net value-add, especially factoring in price. We know that other teams aren't interested in taking on his contract, so that tells you something right there. I'd also add that the Knicks were without him for a long time this year and seemed to do just fine.

I think the one thing this team has that makes them special, is none of them think of themselves as "superstars" and act as if they are role players. Mitch, and especially Randle don't think that way. Brunson is a superstar, but he is running the team and has a gift for knowing which of the role players need touches and when...not to mention, reads defenses with an inate ability to know when they've made a mistake and exploit it himself. If the Knicks were to work a trade, the package of pick assets/Mitch and/or Randle could bring a real haul. Truth is, they are where they are right now without Mitch and Randle. Personally, I think I'd keep Mitch as a platoon guy with Hartenstein as they compliment each other. But I'd give more play time to I-Hart than Mitch, as he can at least make a free throw instead of throwing the ball at the basket with no arch, LOL. I think Randle is quite expendable, but I don't know what the front office knows...so, I could be completely out to lunch  :-?? What I do know is that I love this team like no team I can remember playing at the Garden. They seem to be able to overcome a slew of major injuries which is something I've never seen in my lifetime
