Good morning and merry Christmas to all who are celebrating it.

I also was looking for a Christmas-themed word and for the heck of it I was going to just go with 'Merry' but out of habit, I started with my regular words. I had 4 letters and worked hard to get this word, still thinking Christmas-themed.

I'll settle for the 3.

This one was a real struggle for me. I think I'm too slow to consider the uncommon letter sometimes.

 You know, we have been doing this for almost a full year now. I liken it to what Dave said, but some days you can look at the letters you have and the word seems to just come out of nowhere, and other days, you always seem to pick the wrong combo. For me, like yesterday, I had a choice of 2 words and I picked the right one, some days we have 4 or 5 choices and can't hit it right away.

To those that keep changing their opening words, truly I don't understand that. I have words that go thru most letters I want to use and stick with them every day, why change them, what does that accomplish? You still need those same letters to be used.
Still, it all comes down to luck. Lately, I have had 3 and 4 letters with my first couple of words and tried to work on those on scrap paper, to find the right combo. I am just terrible at doing this in my head, I need to see them on paper, and my brain works better that way.

Right now I have a 63-day streak going which will come to an end in a week as I will be off on another cruise and will have no internet connection for about 10 days. Nothing I can do about it.

As you know I'm a "keep the first word the same always" guy. I realie that this is boring, but I prefer it because I have various little mental systems I have developed with this game over time and it just works better if I always use the same word. I also don't see the point of using up any time to decide what my first word will be each day. If that makes it more fun for some people, then I get that, but apart from that I see no point.

Well I am the guy who uses a different word every day...and I'll keep doing that. I just like trying something new every day and challenging myself. I do like to start a word with at least an "E" in it, preferably at the end of the word. One thing I have noticed is that all of us are getting better at this game. No one has been skunked in quite awhile
