It may be ugly as sin, it may be fan unfriendly, but at least it's safe.

Oddly enough, it's safer when the Jets play.   I suspect that may be because the Giants season ticket holders were selling their tickets because of how bad the team was last season

Funny video.  I like how the judge is smart enough to wait until he had stopped driving before talking to him.  I am not sure I would have been that composed to think about the safety issues.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is making strides in his recovery from a torn right ACL sustained in Week 8 of last season. The non-contact injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Additionally, Jones battled a neck injury that caused him to miss three games in 2023.

Pro Football Docs are optimistic, projecting Jones to be 100% ready for training camp and fully prepared for Week 1 of the season.

Currently, Jones has been actively participating in team OTAs, including 7-on-7 drills, though he has not yet been cleared for contact. "I'm not restricted at all," Jones said. "I would say I'm about where I hoped to be. We've done a good job of adjusting the schedule based on what I'm able to do. Every week I'm able to do a little bit more. The schedule can change or progress as I'm progressing, which I think has been the right way to do it. I feel good. I think I'm in a good spot."

Head Coach Brian Daboll emphasized a cautious approach to Jones' return. "We want Daniel back at 100%, not just for his sake, but for the team's long-term success," Daboll said.

MALIK NABERS, WR, NEW YORK GIANTS (SIXTH OVERALL)
During his podium availability at the combine, Malik Nabers made it clear what the New York Giants thought of him.

An Odell Beckham Jr. replacement would be great, but the Giants just need a receiver who can be the top target and explosive option in a passing game. Despite the team trying multiple avenues to get there, the answer has been Darius Slayton year after year. Nabers should be the top option in this passing game.

Nabers gives the Giants the type of receiver who, like peak-Beckham, can create a big play from anywhere on the field. He can take a slant to the house or use his speed to win deep down the field.

Nabers can fit whichever version of the Giants offense they want to run. When Brian Daboll got the most out of Daniel Jones during the 2022 run to the playoffs, it was an offense designed around getting the quarterback out of the pocket and creating yards after the catch on the shortest throws in the league, on average. Nabers can eat up space as he averaged 7.0 yards after the catch per reception last season, per SIS, and his 0.35 broken tackles per reception were the second-most in this draft class.

If the Giants want to go back to a more traditional offense, say if Drew Lock becomes the starter, Nabers has the downfield acumen to be a top-tier deep threat to go along with Slayton and Jalin Hyatt.

Nabers spent half of his snaps in the slot last season, which continues a trend of the Giants loading up on slot-first players. However, Nabers' 78th-percentile success rate against press coverage, per Reception Perception, makes a good case that he can live — and thrive — on the outside.

8) TOM LANDRY
Although Tom Landry made his stripes as the two-time Super Bowl-winning head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, he was also an excellent defensive play-caller.

As the New York Giants' defensive coordinator from 1954-59, Landry was a true innovator. He devised the 4-3 defense, adding a middle linebacker and creating the front alignment still used in the NFL today. As Dallas' HC, Landry also invented the "Flex" defense, a gap scheme that allowed for increased flexibility.

3) STEVE SPAGNUOLO
Steve Spagnuolo, the top defensive mind in the NFL in 2024, could move up this list if the Kansas City Chiefs keep dominating the defensive side of the ball.

Patrick Mahomes is the best football player on Earth, but the Chiefs wouldn't have won their third Super Bowl in five tries without Spagnuolo coaching the club's defense.

Of course, that's not all Spagnuolo has done in the NFL. During his first stint as the New York Giants' DC (2007-08), Spags upset the previously undefeated New England Patriots, shutting down arguably the greatest offense in league history en route to a Super Bowl XLII.

He's the only NFL coordinator to win a Super Bowl with two different organizations.

1) BILL BELICHICK
He's not only arguably the best NFL coach of all time, Bill Belichick is also the top defensive coordinator in the history of the league.

Working under Bill Parcells with the Giants from 1985-90, Belichick won Super Bowls XXI and XXV as the club's DC. In Super Bowl XXV, Belichick's defense shut down Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills, who led the NFL in scoring in 1990 and had put up 51 points against the Raiders in the AFC title game. His game plan from the victory is now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

After becoming the Patriots' head coach in 2000, Belichick was heavily involved with New England's defensive processes. He shut down Los Angeles Rams RB Marshall Faulk en route to an upset in Super Bowl XXXVI. The Pats also won Super Bowls after 2003 and 2004, ranking first and second in defensive scoring in those respective years.

Three more Lombardis followed in the 2010s, including after the 2018 campaign when Belichick's Patriots stifled McVay and the high-flying Rams in Super Bowl LIII. New England held Los Angeles — which ranked second in points and yards during the regular season — to a single field goal.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone.  My your holiday be safe and joyful.  Never forget and honor the sacrifice of those who gave their all so that we may be free.  :flag:

I Came To Visit You Today

I came to visit you today
To place this flag next to your grave.
The sacrifices you have made
Will forever be indebted this day.

I came to visit you today
To place this flag next to your grave.
It doesn't matter if you fought or not
'Cause with that uniform it doesn't matter what.

I came to visit you today
To place this flag next to your grave.
The memory of what once was you
Still lingers true for those who knew.

I came to visit you today
To place this flag next to your grave
To just say thank you on this Memorial Day.

Tommy DeVito looked a lot closer to QB2 than QB3 today.

Again, it's an OTA in May.

But I wouldn't be running DeVito off this team so quickly. #NYGiants

NEW YORK GIANTS: QB DANIEL JONES

There might not be a more polarizing player in the league than Jones and his four-year, $160 million contract. Suffering a neck injury and an ACL tear before Week 9 last year didn't help his case.

Jones' 63.0 overall grade in 2023 was the lowest in his NFL tenure, and he was very hot or cold throughout the season. His games at Arizona and Miami were outstanding, but he struggled mightily against Las Vegas, Dallas and Seattle. Nonetheless, Jones was still a strong runner all around, putting forth a second straight year with a running grade of 82.2 or better.

The former No. 6 overall might not be a world-beater this year, but expect more consistency than he exhibited a year ago. If nothing else, his 4.1% turnover-worthy play rate will probably look more like it did from 2020-22. Adding Malik Nabers to the fray is a reason to project upward trends.

NEW YORK GIANTS: B+

New York's best move this offseason was trading for Brian Burns, forming a legit defensive line trio with Kayvon Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence.

They lost Xavier McKinney and Saquon Barkley but reunited head coach Brian Daboll with running back Devin Singletary to quell the sting of Barkley's departure. They also added a handful of offensive linemen in a much-needed overhaul.

I was a big fan of the Giants draft, as Malik Nabers, Tyler Nubin and Andru Phillips are impact players. They weren't able to change their quarterback situation, but that wasn't totally in their control.
