Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 23, 2024, 07:17:43 PMDid Kafka really "create" the offense in 2022?

I assume he had a big hand in it.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 23, 2024, 06:14:00 PMDaboll probably should call plays this year. Three reasons for that:

(1) He obviously had some problems with his DC last year. If he's more involved with the offense this year and gives the DC some breathing room to run his unit how he wants to, that will make it less likely that there is another issue.

(2) Daboll's job could be on the line this year. I think it would be a bit extreme to fire the 2022 NFL Head Coach Of the Year in 2024, but it's not impossible. If I'm Daboll, I'm focusing on my main strengths this year, which are designing and implementing an offense.

(3) Kafka has, in two seasons, displayed no clear evidence that he is particularly good in the OC role.

I thought he did an amazing job in 2022 of creating an offense that was nothing like he wanted to coach and had some success.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 23, 2024, 01:28:51 PM?  Sarcasm?

No, just me being a jackass. The race is at Saratoga this year because Belmont is under construction.  The race is going to be 10 furlongs, not the usual 12 furlongs (which is what Secretariat ran).

Flightline is a son of Tapit.  Tapit is a son of Pulpit who is a son of AP Indy.  AP Indy sire was Seattle Slew and and Dam Sire was Secretariat.  Tapit has produced a number of successful offspring.

Pretty good genetics to have Seattle Slew as your dad and Secretariat as the grandfather on your mother's side.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 23, 2024, 09:37:53 AMI believe it's a mix

I think all NFL schemes are a mix.  I got the impression that Bowen prefers zone to man and the majority of plays will be zone.  TBH, I really don't know.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 22, 2024, 05:37:12 PMFunny thing is that he is significantly better in press than zone.

Isnt our new scheme heavier zone than man?

I bet whoever wins the Belmont this year beats that time by 20 seconds.

There is irony in the title of this thread given that once the season begins he will be taking a seat.

It seems like it's just me, but I don't find that picture particularly good to compare sizes.  Flott is outstretched (maybe leaping?) and Banks is crouched in a ready position.

I root for three teams every week.  The Giants and whoever is playing Dallas and Philly.

One might think there would be a few Giants on the list given their typical draft position.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on May 20, 2024, 08:44:02 AMSame reason Ivan Pace Jr. wasn't drafted last year..."a couple inches too short"..."doesn't fit prototypical size for the NFL", etc. Pace turned out to be the best LB on the Vikings team last year even though he was a UDFA. Made the "All NFL Defensive Rookie Team"

Hopefully, this situation with Chatman is a similar situation concerning why he wasn't drafted. Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle

Look at his RAS Score Card...almost entirely green (elite) "strength, explosion, and speed", but overall score brought down big time by the red (very poor) because of his size and 3-cone. He's basically a low-to-the-ground wild badger in a trench

Notice Ivan Pace Jr.'s RAS score...you'd think he'd never make a team. Yet he just instinctively understands football and how to disrupt, sniff out the ball, and attack like an angry badger

Moral of the story: there's more to playing football than size and athleticism

Does he possess those same intangibles as Pace?

I don't know either guy involved, but have a hunch there is a little culpability on both sides.   Seems like a situation that could have been easily avoided.
