Quote from: Ed Vette on May 26, 2024, 07:25:46 PMDon't be surprised if they keep three on the roster initially. A long shot but it's possible until DJ proves he can not have a setback.

Ed,

That's exactly what I was thinking as well, why couldn't they just keep all three on the roster?

I guess time will tell

OMG!!!

I knew it was coming soon, bit never would I have guessed it would be the game winner in OT. Alex Wennberg has had so many close calls and has done great work at Center and on the boards, but I am so happy for this kid, coming from Seattle, becoming a dad in his early days with the team, and slowly assimilating with the team. What a great way for him to close this one out.

Goodrow starting to show he's a money player in the playoffs while Laffy puts on a show in twisting Bob into a pretzel for goal of the Playoffs.

Rangers regain control the series!

Peace!

Big Blue Huddle / What Is the NFL Post-June 1 De...
Last post by brownelvis54 - May 26, 2024, 09:37:22 PM
The details of the NFL salary cap are often confusing, and the rules around post-June 1 cuts can seem even more complicated. Let's take a closer look at the NFL's post-June 1 regulations, what the post-June 1 designation means, and how it affects teams and players.

NFL Post-June 1 Cut

Let's start with a straightforward NFL release that occurs at the beginning of the new league year in March. If a team cuts a player at any point before June 1, all of his future guarantees and remaining prorated signing bonus will immediately "accelerate" onto the club's salary cap.

The team is forced to absorb all of those charges at once. The cap space being allocated toward a player no longer on the roster is referred to as "dead money."

However, the NFL's post-June 1 rule states that any player released or traded after June 1 will have his dead money spread over two seasons instead of only the current campaign.

For example, let's say a player has three years remaining on his contract with prorated signing bonus money of $5 million each season. Were he to be released or traded before June 1, his team would take on $15 million in dead money in 2024: three seasons at $5 million per.

But if the club waited until June 2 to trade or release that player, the post-June 1 rules would come into play. The team would still incur the player's $5 million dead money charge for 2024, but the remaining $10 million would be pushed to the 2025 salary cap.

NFL Post-June 1 Designation

Still, teams don't always want to wait until June 2 to cut a player because he could have roster bonuses or other guarantees that could kick in during the interim.

Meanwhile, players don't want to be held captive on a roster all spring only to be released in June when most clubs have already used the majority of their cap space.

To fix those problems, NFL teams can use a post-June 1 designation when releasing a player. The player will immediately hit the open market, while the club can still realize the benefits of a post-June 1 cut without having to actually wait to release the player.

Teams can use the post-June 1 designation on two players each season.

However, there is one significant drawback to the post-June 1 designation: Clubs have to carry the player's full cap charge for the current season until June, even though he is no longer on the roster.

Because the club doesn't get to realize the additional cap space until June 2, post-June 1 designations aren't helpful in creating immediate cap room for teams who want to sign free agents in March. However, the designations can help clubs that project to be tight on cap space later in the summer when it's time to sign rookie classes.

One final, essential note: There is no post-June 1 designation for trades. A team can wait until after June 1 to process a trade and will see the same cap benefits we outlined, but they cannot trade a player in April and designate the deal as a post-June 1 trade.

So does this mean bye-bye Darren Waller? And anyone else?

Quote from: Philosophers on May 26, 2024, 10:09:33 AMI dont want Dans to be a teacher.  I want his coaches to be teachers.  I want Dabs to have great organizational skills, strategize brilliantly and lead in a way that the team follows him.
Good point. I've observed him in moments of one on one with a player but his position coaches are the teachers. He meets and coaches his staff. As a good leader, he should work through them. I even question how much one on one he had with Josh Allen over the QB Coach but an OC and HC he will spend more time with the QB than any other player or position. The QB is involved with the Game Plan on a weekly basis and a lot of the Offensive is developed around the QB.

Florida is almost certainly going to win game 4. Knowing it's a must win for them and being extra pissed off about blowing this one. The rangers are excellent and with shesty there's always a chance but I see this thing turning into a 3 game series with 2 are MSG. I'll take those odds.
Well, they just called up 13 guys from Hartford.  Maybe have them play Tuesday then?  Let the regulars rest for thursday?  Same thing was said about game 2 and 3 against Carolina, game 3 against Washington.  It will be a new game and what happened today will have no bearing on what happens Tuesday.

I just listened to Alexander Barkov post game.  I think this says it all, ""In play-offs, it doesn't really matter how you lose if you lose 6-1 or in overtime it is still a loss..."

I question the accuracy.  After the first, they said it was 37-10 Florida.  Rangers had 8 SOG, you are telling me they only had 2 shot attempts that either missed or were blocked?  I find that hard to believe.  94 Shot attempts, but only 37 SOG?  Yeah, think we found Florida's problem.  There was a kid on my daughter's team who was good for about 15 shot attempts per game. Only 2 or 3 were actually on net though.

If I did the same one this morning, why did it open as a new puzzle? I must have been half asleep this morning. Although I was wondering why it was so easy tonight. Lol
