Ric,

Looks like you got up early to try and beat some of the return holiday traffic and got slowed by an accident. Best laid plans, no doubt!

Glad you made it safe and sound.  :ok:

Dumbing down society one technological advance at a time.

I saw something that said at one point in time, the average number sequence most people could remember was seven. I have to believe it's less than that now. Why? Very few people bother to remember a phone number anymore.

I can honestly say there is ONLY one thing on that list that annoys me:

Poor drivers.

None of that other stuff bothers me in the least.

This isn't a political statement: I'm not annoyed by the politicians themselves. I'm annoyed at the collective voters who can't see past party lines to hold all of the people WE voted into office accountable.

Quote from: andrew_nyGiants on Today at 11:38:34 AMFor what these players sacrifice, with the greedy owners cap controlling while lengthening the season......the players should take every minute back that they can.

You want mandatory?! Let the owners and their shill (Goodell) open up the coffers, pay these players what they deserve and go back to a 16 game schedule.
I agree 1 billion percent!!! Baseball and basketball have fully-guaranteed contracts. NFL needs to do the same.

I would prefer a longer, mandatory training camp. This optional stuff is ridiculous. Either they want to work to build a cohesive unit or they don't.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 09:46:28 AMWhen will the sensor know when a runner's knee or other body part (other than feet or hands) touch the ground?
They won't. But just as they use different camera angles, they can use the video to determine when a body part touched the ground and then use the digital evidence to see where the ball should be placed.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 25, 2024, 01:41:16 PMThat's what I am thinking, the official still needs to spot the ball.   I can't think of a current technology that could determine where the ball is when the runner is down.   The location of the ball is easy, it's their down part that is the challenge.
Put a chip in the ball and sensors on, around, or above the field.

Glad to see Spags get the recognition as well. Some guys are capped at coordinator and are best at that level. He's one of them.

If the team has a winning record, it will be Jones.

IF the team has a losing record, I'd go with Nabers or Burns.

At this point and going into the season, my focus and concerns are about the offensive line... not Jones.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 22, 2024, 01:59:33 PMYeah I just see it as content to get through the dead season. There are always guys that rise and fall in any given season so it's pointless to predict but makes for an enjoyable read if bored basically.
Yeah, I get it. If these lists were catalogued in the library, I'm sure we'd find them in the "Fiction" or "Fantasy" sections.

Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on May 22, 2024, 10:55:56 AMIt's almost as if there was football played between these pre-season 2023 and 2024 rankings which affected them...
One more presentation of facts like this from you and you'll be facing suspension. Consider yourself warned...

Quote from: katkavage on May 22, 2024, 10:25:00 AMI agree. You don't need a list to know where Jones stands after five years in the league.
For me, these lists aren't about the players or teams. It's based on personal preference of some isolated criteria. It's worthless. But... people try to justify or debunk whatever they agree or disagree with. It's just someone else's opinion. They're peddled as if they determine something when in reality, they determine absolutely nothing.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 22, 2024, 09:29:14 AMAs a Giants fan, I know as much about Jones as anyone outside of 1925 Giants way.  That said, I have no idea how Jones will perform this season.  Between his struggles last season and the ACL recovery there are too many unknowns.  So I have reached the conclusion that trying to rank him at this point, is a meaningless exercise.  Hell, I am not even certain he will be the starting quarterback for all or even part of the season.
All of these guessing-game rankings are meaningless. It's crazy how people get triggered by them.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 21, 2024, 02:26:03 PMI am in the don't care camp, but I think you're correct.   I think their are two aspects to this.  There is Barkley the person and Barkley the asset.   As a person, his success or failure doesn't phase me because he is no longer on the team (for some reason, I never really warmed up to the guy, even though he carried himself well).   There is also Barkley the asset and his success and failure reflects on Joe Schoen and the decisions he made.  So I could see that aspect being discussed.
He was a good Giant and I bear no ill-will towards him. If he succeeds elsewhere, even with a rival, I'm happy for him.

If we can post every failure of Toney's and he was barely here, I can only imagine what we're going to see every time Barkley comes up short.
