Not a chance. The rivalries are real with the Commodes, Iggles and Jints. Too much history to tamper with and Jerrah wouldn't think of it. Well Mara made it a point that Dallas stay in the NFC East during realignment.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on Today at 04:29:17 PMWhat does it mean when he gets blamed for many of the sacks the OL subjects him to, but when a back-up behind a better OL is sacked at an even higher rate we are told that the back-up has better pocket sense?  What does it mean when the woes of the defense are the fault of all the 3 and outs he has, when in actuality the TOP is virtually 50-50?  The fact is that there are posters who have tried to place virtually every team failing at DJ's feet.

And I can go through a list of what I perceive as mental gymnastics of those intent on defending Jones from the mildest of criticism... but where would that get us? My comment that initiated your response was pretty narrow and I have no desire (and little to gain) by going any wider.

But I could see a realignment [like when some old NFL teams went into the new AFC [steelers, colts] if and when there's another expansion [incl. overseas and a couple of US sites].  European cities would mean a need for a more rational travel schedule, and their presence in divisions with east coast teams, of which Dallas isn't.

Quote from: londonblue on Today at 03:36:33 PMUnder the current NFL rules the only real opportunity to set tempo and intensity on the field is in training camp and even that is greatly reduced from past eras.

What you can do in rookie camp and mini camp is establish tempo and intensity off the field, by demanding and enforcing that they be on time & attentive to meetings, learn the playbook and push hard in the gym/meet physical targets.

We cannot really see if it is American or Asian Mom until training camp but if they arrive at training camp looking confused and operating at walking pace again it will raise questions about what went before.

It is the fact that the opportunity to set the tone and intensity is so reduced that what opportunity is there needs to be addressed with a sense of urgency.  I don't think we saw that last year.  My hope is that it changes this year.  But the early signs from rookie camp don't give me the warm fuzzies.

A healthy Daniel Jones is a big if. He may be shell-shocked already and be a liability regardless. Drew Lock, yes, has the opportunity to impress first. He's kind of a hold-the-fort guy, perhaps passable.

But DJ will get to start if he looks okay in camp. but he has to produce wins asap or will the Giants let him struggle, then get stuck with an injury settlement? Short leash is logical, Also, Lock might be able to exploit
Daboll's offense downfield more effectively.

I like DJ and want him to succeed. He'll get his chance first.

Stay tuned.

Quote from: sxdxca38 on Today at 03:44:15 PMHi,

You may not be aware of this, but here is a direct quote from a poster just a few months ago, and this is what he said about DJ.

"Well what do you want me to call them? Never in all my life do I remember a fanbase of any NY sports franchise; Football, baseball; hockey ; and Basketball so devoted to a player who so obviously just stinks! Can you name one? ... I can't."

There are many more comments like this, but I think you get the point.

A comment that Jones "stinks" does not equate to putting all the blame on him for the Giants' shortcomings.

I really can't see any realistic scenario where lock beats out a healthy Jones for week 1.
