Yes and no.  One of the benefits of building through the draft is the fact that you can get quality players on very cost controlled contract.  I couldn't find a full list showing the rookie slotting for the #39 pick the Giants traded for him, but #32 gets around $12 million.  Burns signed for $141 million with $76 million.  So you really can't look at him as in any way comparable to a 2nd round drafted player.

John Jiles easily because if he hits like some evaluators think then he'd be the best value as a UDFA

Was one of the best safety prospects in the nation coming out of high school that could play Wr. Didn't take high school seriously but when he got to college took a year off to get his grades right and dominated D2 last year making it to the D2 Heisman showcase. Got recruited hard by D1 but the guy is a 6'3 215lb monster with speed and is a bully/contested catch guy which we all liked in Odunze. Turned down CFL after 2 years trying Wr at juco.

Not that I agree about Mitch, but what you are trying to say brings up a valid point. When you are drafting a QB and you are giving up resources to get him. You should be comparing him to the top 10 of QB's that are playing, not to other QB's in the same draft class. Because, the guy you want needs to be a top 10 franchise guy in your eyes, or you PASS.

Like I said in another thread, the post-draft smokescreen is just as thick as the pre-draft smokescreen.

I see one stud in Nabers.

I hope Nubin either starts at a 75th percentile level.

Phillips is 50-50 for me as to being a better than average starter.

Rest of draft picks are under 50-50 chance of being in 50th percentile or better at their position.

FA signings plus new OL coach improve OL to be average (hoping).

Defense is improved by talent acquisition and Bowen's schemes.

DJ posts top 15 performance.

Injuries derail us like they do 99% of the seasons over past decade.  We continue to lack good player depth to offset it.

Dabs runs another soft preseason and we are ill-prepared for upcoming season again.

We win 5 maybe 6 games.
