Giants made a move securing Nathan Rourke after the patriots released him Monday.
Rourke was the CFL mvp in 2022 and spent the 2023 season on the Jaguars.
He threw for 3,349 yards 25 tds and 10 int in 2022 for the Canadian team. He's only 25 years old and played college football at Ohio.

I'm not loving that news if I'm Tommy D.

#NYGiants claimed and were awarded QB Nathan Rourke on waivers from the Patriots, per the league's transaction wire.
Rourke was waived by NE yesterday. He'll be a fourth QB on the 90-man roster with Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito. Can't see Jones doing much team work until late July.
Rourke participated in the 2021 rookie camp with NYG as a WR. He's a former CFL star. Was with Jags and Pats.
None of Giants' UDFA are officially signed until Thursday, so no roster move was needed.

that was quite a play by him.
Camp arm

I like his pocket presence significantly more than Devitos.
This is a nothing burger; most camps carry 4 arms to ensure the skilled positions/olines get a enough work.

He lit it up in the CFL. He's a bit short at 6' 1", but I think Tommy Cutlets has some serious competition for QB 3. The Giants claimed Rourke on waivers. The Pats got him by claiming him on waivers (when the Jags waived him), and they beat out the Texans, who also put a claim in on him. I think there could be something more than just a camp body in him.

I tend to agree. If I'm a betting man, I'd probably give him a moderate edge to be our practice squad QB this year over Tommy D.
Do I think he'll ever see the field this year in a real game if at least one of Jones or Luck is healthy? Nope.

The Luck/Lock predictive text has gotten the better of me multiple times already lol

DeVito's pocket awareness is very good, I might even say special. Rourke must really be something.

And yet with a better OL than the Giants provided to DJ at the beginning of the season, he was sacked 37 times and had a higher sack rates per drop back than Jones. That doesn't sound very special to me.
I stand corrected.

I guess I'm wrong then but he certainly looked more aware of the backside rushers, where pressure was coming from, and when to escape the pocket and take what he could. Why do you say the line was better? Based on availability?

Andrew Thomas. Justin Pugh. Playing together for a while compared to the pre-season merry-go-round Johnson did in the pre-season.
This is why I never trust anyone's eye test without some sort of statistical confirmation.
