Quote from: Rosehill Jimmy on Today at 08:33:04 AMI thought Runyan was a LG and Eleumunor a RG?

You could be right. I vaguely remember Runyan saying he could play either guard, but his preference is for LG.

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on Today at 08:01:28 AMAgain, I don't think anyone has expressed any displeasure that he's healthy and back at it.

The absolute vast majority of this board, myself included, want DJ to succeed - it's going to mean the Giants are good.

I think having a degree apprehension until it's seen in a live regular season game is justified after everything we've been through.

But perhaps I just read it different than you have; if so, both points are view are equally valid.

I hope you're on the mend as well. Look after yourself
Ed

I believe I am heading in the right direction; thank you.  Take my recovery.  I see some of the responses being akin to me saying-  "The dentist temporally fixed my tooth," and the reply, "That's nice, but your foot is still broken."

DJ's hopeful recovery and return will come in steps.  At this point, it's about throwing and moving, especially just being in OTAs.  The area of concern will be hinted at in training camp and maybe if he plays in a PS game (not sure that will happen).  More likely, we will not be able to see about the concerns until the season starts.

The Xs and Os with Greg Cosell – Inside the NFL's press coverage revolution

In this week's Xs and Os, Greg Cosell and Doug Farrar detail why the NFL is turning to press coverage, and which cornerbacks are best at it.

LT Thomas
LG Eluemunor
C JMS
RG Runyan
RT Neal

If Neal improves to the point of being serviceable (quite the bar for a 7th overall draft pick), this would seem to be the best combination available.

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on Today at 06:44:35 AMI read one negative reply and 3 indicating that they've heard/seen this type of stuff before and after 6 years are refusing to get excited in May.

Ed,

I am not sure I agree with your framing.  DJ is returning from a neck injury (stinger) that some claim impacted his throwing on his return last season and an ACL.  At this point, the focus is on Daniel Jones returning to full health and being functional as before.  So, no one needs to be "excited" at this point.  It was good news in terms of his recovery.  At the very least, as humans, we should be happy for Daniel Jones, the man, that he is physically recovering from his injuries.

Every team same bye week
Maybe week 6 and week 14

Why that would be good for the game and the players, there are no longer enough owners like Mara.   If they do add a second bye it will be floating like the first.   That way the owners can maximize revenue.

A report from a reporter posted a positive report on the starting QB and it's met here with 4 negative replies.   This seems to be in contrast to claims that everyone is rooting for Daniel Jones to succeed.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Devito takes a stand
May 22, 2024, 07:08:46 PM
The Giants signed quarterback Drew Lock to a one-year deal that guarantees him $5 million this offseason. They also attempted to trade up in the draft to target who most believe was quarterback Drake Maye, according to multiple sources. They even recently claimed quarterback Nathan Rourke off waivers from the New England Patriots.

It has DeVito, 25, back at square one, even if he threw for eight touchdown passes and just three interceptions in nine games.

"Yeah, we're not having this conversation for sure [if I was a third-round pick]. But at the end of the day, like I said, control what you can control, keep the chip on my shoulder, keep working," DeVito said. "Everyone has always been overlooked, and it's kind of the same deal I was in last year. I know the offense now, and I've been in some situations before. Looking forward to doing it again."

But in terms of being a good person, an honorable man, Mara is tops in the NFL, in my opinion.

Quote from: Ed Vette on May 18, 2024, 09:41:16 PMThey should go back to Albany. If I owned the team, I would close practice to the public and the Media except for one practice in the stadium.

The big problem with Albany is the lack of an indoor field, they can't afford to have their limited practices impacted by weather.  Plus the NFL teams now have very sophisticated computer systems and networks that are not easily replicated on the road.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: PFF top starting Qbs 2024
May 22, 2024, 09:29:14 AM
As a Giants fan, I know as much about Jones as anyone outside of 1925 Giants way.  That said, I have no idea how Jones will perform this season.  Between his struggles last season and the ACL recovery there are too many unknowns.  So I have reached the conclusion that trying to rank him at this point, is a meaningless exercise.  Hell, I am not even certain he will be the starting quarterback for all or even part of the season.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 21, 2024, 08:07:44 PMOtAs day 2 and I saw Ezeudu was taking snaps at LT and LG and it made me cringe.  I have wanted them to just let the kid learn LG for a full offseason.

I think @Ed Vette has also been a huge advocate of letting the kid play LG for an entire offseason to see what we actually have and they just wont.

It seems Daboll and the new O-line coach are big fans of versatility, but I (and others) agree with Ed that getting players good at one spot and coordinated is more important.
