Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on Today at 02:45:59 PMI agree they had great voices (Mama Cass was in a league all her own), but I didn't think of them as "rockers". My list wasn't "complete" as I pointed out. Completely forgot about Ronstadt...loved her. she should be on the list. The others mentioned aren't really my idea of "rocker" differs from others

I mean, Shania Twain rocks more than Karen Carpenter by a thousand miles...and I didn't include her because even though she rocks the house down...I don't think of her as a "rocker", but she is cool

And believe me, if you've never been to a country concert and compared them with a rock concert, country tends to be louder and rockier at concerts

Theatrics. Not even close!

The Giants plan to transition Runyan back to left guard, a position he prefers and where he started the first six games of the 2022 season. During that period, Runyan gave up just four pressures and one sack. Notably, he did not allow a single pressure in the first five games, earning elite blocking grades. This performance showcases his potential to significantly enhance the Giants' pass protection.

Pairing Runyan with Andrew Thomas on the left side should provide a formidable barrier in front of Daniel Jones or whoever may be quarterbacking the Giants in the future.

Quote from: Sem on Today at 02:25:47 PMI would put Linda Ronstadt at the top of my list, even ahead of Janis, due to her versatility.

Personally I don't think Carole King has a great voice, (I do love it though), but her strength is more as a songwriter.

Depending on how far you want to stretch the term "rocker..."
Karen Carpenter!!
Diana Ross
Etta James
Barbara Streisand

I loved Karen Carpenter and Mama Cass.

No love for Linda Ronstadt, Tina or Melissa Etheridge?

Nobody tops Janice.

Then there are other folk/Pop Icons. Joan Baez, Carol king, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins...

If they protect Jones and he has time in the pocket, he will put up top 10-12 QB stats. I'm more optimistic of the Running attack than most of you here although it may be a drop off from Barkley. Can they protect him? They brought in a decent crop of veteran Linemen.

The bottom line is that there will be injuries and that Oline Depth concerns me. And while Jones can win games healthy, he would be foolish as they would to incorporate running plays with him. Jones also folds against good teams and in big moments.

Quote from: Trench on May 05, 2024, 07:37:20 AMI think Hyatt is better than Slayton today. For some reason they didn't give him reps early and then when they did it was apparent he is a dynamic playmaker.

Slayton is ok but he still unfortunately drops too many passes in key moments.

It will be very interesting to watch the progress of both Slayton and Bellinger this season. Both are key players looking to cement their roles.
Slayton had three drops last season. Double that for double targets and he's among the best in the league.

Quote from: kingm56 on May 05, 2024, 07:00:19 AMInteresting observation, Ed.  As a byproduct of 'recent' rule changes, I have to believe this will change in the near future.  If Justin J can remain healthy, I suspect he'll have the best chance.  It's also possible that if Jerry Rice wasn't a victim of the '87 player strike, he would have been the MVP.  His 23 TDs in 10 games garnered him 30 votes; Elway nudged him out with 36 votes.  I could be wrong, but I believe that was the closest any WR came to MVP honors.
There have been Receivers who completely took over and dominated yet they give it to the QB who has many options to throw the ball to. Moss, Fitzgerald, Johnson, Harrison, Owens and of course, Jerry Rice. Yet they gave it often to RB's who many say are a dime a dozen and need an Oline. lol
