Eli had some good receivers and a couple of almost elite and a lot of Jags. We're Nicks, Manningham and Cruz great receivers or did Eli make them look good? How would those three look on this team? The best receivers Eli had were Toomer, Odell and Plax. He found a way to get the ball to Smith, Tyree, and the rest.
I would have drafted Alt if not a QB. Evan Neal has to find a way to a starting role on this team. Either at RT competing with Alt or Guard. The best way to get better results from Jones is to protect him in the pocket. If you want to get his head clear, protect him. He didn't need a shiney hood ornament. Just ask this guy...
Quote from: T200 on May 01, 2024, 09:27:08 AMI have been saying this every single year Jones has been in the league: he can be evaluated despite what support he has or doesn't have around him. I got a lot of pushback from you and others saying that it was too difficult to evaluate him because of the lack of quality NFL support.
Seems to me the ability to evaluate a player is subjective.
Quote from: madbadger on April 30, 2024, 04:28:15 PMWho though? There aren't legions of good players just sitting around looking for someone to pick them up, and what sort of production would have been acceptable considering what an absolute train wreck our quarterback situation was last year?I am not even saying the 12 mill needs to be reinvested in the TE unit, spend it elsewhere.
Quote from: madbadger on April 30, 2024, 02:59:27 PMHe's the best tight end on the roster and it isn't close. If we're looking to free up money who would it be for, and would they do more to help us win next year than Walker if he plays? Or are you thinking about next years draft picks and are hoping we start ejecting dead "weight" in preparation for next year.Take the 12 mill saved on a Post June 1 cut and go get someone that could be more impactful. 14mill for 500 yards and 1 TD isn't worth it
Quote from: TONKA56 on April 30, 2024, 11:15:09 AMBased on his class and work ethic, Jones is an easy guy to root for, but I have a hard time picturing him at quarterback after 2026 for a myriad of reasons.I don't see him beyond the designed out year after 2024
Quote from: kingm56 on April 09, 2024, 03:14:28 PMSounds like a veteran player trying to avoid camps, much like Strahan in 07.Strahan was good
