Big Blue Huddle / Re: Did Darren Waller Retire??

Quote from: GordonGekko80 on March 19, 2024, 09:40:12 AMI find the lack of communication on that front disturbing.

He should've communicated his intentions quite a few weeks ago.
Lack of communication with who? The team? How do we know he didn't communicate this with the team? Maybe I'm missing something though. Haven't been following this closely.

Love reliable power backs. I've always said I'd take John Riggins over Barry Sanders any day. With Riggins you were pretty much guaranteed 3 yards on every carry so you could go for it on 4th down. Sanders put together highlight reels. Rip off a 50 yard run but get pushed out of bounds at the five. Then they'd bring in another back because he wasn't very good in goal line situations.
So yeah. Get a beast that punishes defenses. Those are the guys that enable you to close out games.

Quote from: Fletch on January 22, 2024, 09:10:36 AMYou guys can mock and ridicule all you want; his big punt return was the difference in a super bowl which looked like a shoot-out-last one-with-ball-wins type. Very worth it for a 3rd round pick and, they use other wide receivers.
Right. That play alone put the trade in a win-win status from my perspective.

He's their secret weapon that they're hiding until the championship game where he'll put on a legendary performance.

I can't imagine feeling sorry for Jerry Jones

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on January 11, 2024, 03:09:42 PMI know nothing about the Eagles' plans, but sacking Siriani for losing in the playoffs (but still making the playoffs) a year after he was a play or two away from winning a Super Bowl, like him or not as a person, would seem incredibly harsh and perhaps a bit foolish. He's a 42 year old head coach who is 36-19 so far. How many coaches in that franchise's history had a better winning percentage than that? He has been there for just three seasons and has been in the postseason every year. He's now going to lose his job if he doesn't advance to the second round in year three? Wow.

It seemed a bit rash when they drafted Hurts after their promising young starter had a couple of bumps in the road, but had already put that team in the position to win a Super Bowl. That decision was clearly the right one. Their GM consistently puts this team in the position to win. He may figure whatever magic got this coach had last season may have worn off. That would be especially true if he lost the locker room. Having said that I hope the cocky jerk sticks, because I think much of his success is attributable to his coordinators, and I want to him suffer in a way that only Eagles fans can make a coach suffer.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on January 11, 2024, 01:07:13 PMThere are rumblings about Siriano.  Maybe Wink will move to the Eagles as HC, not DC.
Hope not. After last year's playoff game where he acted like a classless clown, I've looked forward to seeing a long ugly season from him

Fletch, I'll put it in simple terms for you, because that's clearly the only hope in making a point with you.  If I speculated that you were a pedophile on a public forum, you'd be furious, I assume. And, this is a a forum where you're not even using your actual name. Imagine I used your real name, and people who disliked you  and could harm you and family were part of the audience hearing this accusation. That's legally actionable and I hope Kimmel goes after him for it. It's despicable behavior regardless of political affiliation.

If you want to get some enjoyment out of this season, head over to Igglephans.com to see the growing dissatisfaction with Siriani. Hope he sticks around for another year and the team implodes. Really don't like the guy after his buffoonery during the playoff game last year.

Quote from: PSUBeirut on November 19, 2023, 09:39:04 PMI'd much rather have the conversation at the end of the year about how the players didn't quit on each other and the head coach than what we're going to do with the #1 or #2 pick if it comes at the expense of the team quitting on the coach.  If that results in a nominally worse draft position, so be it.
Exactly.  Just how good will the QB have to be to turn around such a bunch of sad sacks ?

My best case scenario is this. We have a very young team.  I'd love to see them go on a run and end the season on a high note with growing confidence in emerging talent. And that sort of thing happens all the time in this league. Then we go into the draft looking to fill some spots and add some solid citizen free agents to lead and mentor the younger guys.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: So when Eli says stick with DJ
November 16, 2023, 08:30:10 PM
To cure out what to do in this draft I think the Giants have to answer these fundamental questions...
How comfortable do we feel with this offensive line and how much can they improve in a year to protect a high profile rookie quarterback?
How much confidence do they have in the QB class coming out next year?
If their confidence is low in both their o-line and the QB class, then it may make the most sense to not even bother drafting a QB even if this is an area of need. Maybe trade down, build depth, and see whether or not DJ finally gets his head screwed on right after watching other's work with the players he's had around him. He's likely not seeing the field until mid season anyway. If he looks to be turning things around then you stick with him. Otherwise, you cut bait and get that next QB next season.
It's probably makes more sense financially to take this approach anyway.

I'm ok with that. Those sideline reports are pretty pointless anyway.

Ok. I've been away from watching football regularly for quite some time. I guess it's showing. Still I was impressed with Dobbs when he played us and then this game with Vikes.

Really liked what I saw of Donna when we played Cards. Obviously, it was one game, but Dobbs looks to be a QB with a lot of upside. Would be an interesting hypothetical to consider a few years from now. Hopefully, it won't be yet another agonizing What Ifs.
