Really liked what I saw of Donna when we played Cards. Obviously, it was one game, but Dobbs looks to be a QB with a lot of upside. Would be an interesting hypothetical to consider a few years from now. Hopefully, it won't be yet another agonizing What Ifs.

Big Blue Huddle / Such a weird, predictable pattern
September 13, 2023, 10:52:00 PM
When was the last time the Giants played the Cowboys on the first game of the season when it didn't start this way, and by that I specifically mean where the Giants embarrass themselves on national TV while the Cowboys look like world beaters?
It gets weirder though, because the games themselves almost always begin the same way. Giants offense looks great. They March right down the field picking up yards in chunks of 10-15 at a time. Then they get down to the red zone where the Giants put in a series of plays that would show up on a football follies reel (if that's still a thing). They never score the TD. They rarely even get the field goal. The blocked kick returned for the TD is actually par for this course of events
Every. Frickin. Time.
As frustrating as it always is to have the season always begin this way, I take solace in knowing that just like Giants will always be the butt of jokes among the NFL pundits (pros and wannabes), the Cowboys fans will be booking flights and extended hotel stays in the city where the Super Bowl will be played only to watch their team stumble their way through December into a wildcard flop.
One consolation I take from this game is that the Giants didn't suffer serious injuries. The other consolation is that they only lost one game.
Obviously, there's plenty to be concerned about, but it's a long season. This is a young team with a significantly reconfigured OLine (and offense in general).  Smart money was pretty much unanimous that Cowboys would win easily, but we're a bunch of dummies, or more accurately fanatics (it's where we get the word "fans" after all).
So, before you do anything desperate like take up a new hobby or spend your Sundays fulfilling your wife's wildest fantasy by accompanying her to the mall, remember that it's a long season. The NFL is all about teams gelling which usually comes from continuity in the lineup. Any team that stays relatively healthy stands a good chance of sneaking into the postseason. And sometimes a good old fashioned butt kicking is exactly what a young, talented team needs.
At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Wondering what people think of Sirianni as a HC? Specifically, do you think that he'll be badly affected if he lost his OC and or DC? I think Buffalo suffered from the loss of Dabs, and it would be nice to think the Eagles would be dinged a little if they lost one of their coordinators.
Having said that I fully expect that the Eagles to be one of the elite teams next year, because they're such a well built team. However, my dream scenario is that the loss of a coordinator exposes Sirianni (or that becomes the narrative if they come out of the gate sloppy), and Sirianni doesn't handle it well and implodes.

BBH Archive / Fire Coughlin
February 10, 2012, 05:23:00 PM
Look folks I'm all for giving the guy a honey moon after this flukish Super Bowl, but anyone who's paying attention can clearly see that game has passed him by.  Let's get out in front of this problem and be proactive. Sending Coughlin packing would send a powerful message that nobody's safe.  Complacency is the enemy.
I'll be printing up t-shirts for everyone to wear to the opening game/ring ceremony. Who's with me?
